Snowball's ears twitched, causing her to awake when she heard the jingle of the front door. She awoke from her bed, stretching her paws and yawning, her tail curling tightly as she stretched her muscles. The maine coon stood up, moving towards a large heating pad, laying across it and closing her eyes. Despite the female just waking up, she was tempted to fall back asleep in the warm embrace of the heating pad. She purred silently as her thick white fur pooled around her.

Jasper awoke, his tail waving in discontent at the noise that woke him up. While some cats would be greeting each other, Jasper jumped on the windowpane and stared at nothing in particular. He just saw the life that he could be having, a life of freedom and endless exploration. But in here he just sits around until someone comes to pet him. He thought he'd die here, just a plaything for the humans for the rest of his life. He's always wanted to bolt out that door and take off running, but he knew he'd just end up getting caught again. He was faster and swifter than the humans, but they had the entire layout memorized and he didn't. He simply sighed and he laid down, staring at the humans as they walked by.

Before Artemis could wipe her paw once more at the older tom, her ears perked as she turned and saw Nori behind her. "Oh, hey Nori! We were just playing!" She smiled, sitting down obediently as she swished her tail lightly. "Isn't that right, birch?" She turned her head towards the older tom. She hoped that she and Birch weren't in trouble, she didn't mean any harm. Then again, she never does and she always finds her way in trouble one way or the other.

Spike had watched the play-fight between Birch and Artemis take place from the doorway, after being kicked out of the kitchen. He watched Nori intervene. He watched everything. He knew that if it came to it, he could beat them all in a fight. He was large, powerful and cunning, abilities which he often used. Because he saw this, he realised he really, really wanted to fight something. So he leapt in top of an unused table and yowled to all of the café cats. “Who dares to fight me? I shall be impressed if any can beat me. After all, I am much smarter and stronger than any of you runts!” He had insulted them deliberately, to increase the chance of some cat getting riled up and challenging him to a battle. After all, the cats in the café are a weak, lousy lot, Spike thought.

Silky looked over at Snowball, the enormous white she-cat. Despite their size difference, Silky had always admired Snowball. She was so big and beautiful, while Silky was small and dull. She decided to go over to Snowball. She wasn’t sure why, she just felt that she had to. Silky moved out of her corner and over to Snowball, stopping to clean her ear halfway across the room. She stopped in front of the great she-cat, captivated by the other cat’s magnificent coat. Silky found herself unable to speak because she was so nervous, so she sat and waited for the other cat to notice her.

Kie woke up. He stretched for a few seconds, glancing around. He noticed someone walk into the cafe who was wearing bright colors, which caught his attention. He stood up from his catbed and padded over, maneuvering around tables and chairs, to walk along next to the customer. The customer smiled and leaned over to scratch Kie on the head. Kie followed the customer as she walked over to the counter to order, but she was ordering a lot, so he got bored. He glanced over at the other cats, but they all seemed occupied, either with another cat, or probably lost in their own thoughts. Kie scanned the area again and realized that he was, in fact, wrong. There was a poofy, tricolored cat who had just run into a corner, and was now walking around with the customers. Kie decided to stop by and chat, "So, you like attention from the humans too, eh?"

Daru woke up and left her catbed. She strutted over to a customer, who pet her while she was standing in line. She was a bit sad when she moved on in line, so she let the next person in line pet her, and the next. Eventually, they all moved on, though. She was a bit disappointed, but she just walked away anyways. She was hungry, so she went over to her food bowl to have her breakfast. Unfortunately, there was no food in the bowl yet. She was a bit frustrated. She did, however, have some water in her water bowl, and before she took a drink, she looked into it. Wait a second... Some of her fur was matted! Daru tried to fix it with her paw, but it didn't work. She quickly glanced up and frantically looked around for either someone to help her fix her fur, or a spot to hide until a human would find her, and help her fix her fur. She looked a bit strange as she just quickly walked around the cafe. It looked like she was chasing a bug, but the bug was at her eye level or higher, and eventually, after making herself look like a fool, she settled for sitting in the corner.

Snowball opened her eyes, happening to catch Silky padding by her field of vision. "Oh, morning, Silky!" She smiled warmly, standing up and shaking her pelt. Her thick coat gathered heat easily, and laying on the heating pad for a few minutes was enough to cause her to steam up. She padded over to the shecat, laying down before her as she smiled at her.

That's no way for a cat to live, he believed. "I used to catch birds out of the sky and go wherever I please. Now? I can't even go into the kitchen without them shooing me out." Jasper paused and closed his eyes to silence himself. He knew how much the other cats liked this place, even if he didn't.
