Ark and Fudge were out training with their mentors. They were training very hard and Ark was starting to look like an expert. Fudge, however, was struggling to keep up. He got to his paws, panting.
"How are you so good at this?" he said while catching his breath.
"I don't know. It just happens," Ark smugly replied. "Though haven't you heard? I'm the Alphas pup!" He then received a swipe on the head by Rusty. He yipped and rubbed his head.
"One out of three, should I remind you. Also, being a little more modest would help," he said.
"Cut him some slack," Nemmell chuckled. "They are pups after all."
"Well... I wouldn't say that..." Rusty sighed. "Anyway, good work you two. We will have a quick break and then finish where we left off." Fudge made a sigh of relief and collapsed under the shade of a tree. Rusty had a chat with Ark who afterwards trotted up to him. He shuffled his paws around.
"Hey, um... Rusty wanted me to apologise for what I said from before. Which is dumb... But I'm sorry if I offended you," he said.
"Oh, no. It's okay," Fudge gave a weak smile. "I don't mind, really." Ark sat down beside him. They sat in silence as they watched Rusty and Nemmell discuss training techniques. He titled his head towards Fudge.
"But you know... If you keep trying, you'll get at it eventually."
"I know," he sighed.
"Don't give up yet! You can do it!" he shouted and got to his feet. Fudge looked at him in shock. What's he all fired up about all of a sudden?
"Maybe I could help you!"
"How?" he asked.
"Right now! I'll tell you some secrets before they call us again. Get up, lazybones!" he barked.
"O-okay!" Fudge did as he was told and listened to Ark give some tips. They then practised it together. Somehow, it made more sense coming out of Ark's mouth. After a while, they were called over again and went back to training. This time Fudge was more confident and seemed to be on the right track. Ark and Fudge became a little closer on that day.

Talks of a scent detected was travelling fast in the kennel. There were rumours about what it could be. One thing was made clear though. It was a potentially dangerous mission. Seria was naturally the first to know but somehow it had spread so that everyone was aware. Many asked her questions but she said she was sorting it out.

She had fled from the commotion and was hiding with Sol. "What are you going to do about the-" Sol started.
"Hush. Not now. Let me get some peace first," she said, closing her eyes. She stayed like that for a while while Sol awkwardly watched. After what felt like several minutes, her eyes flung open.
"Right! Let's go sort this scent out!" she announced and got to her paws.
"Have you decided what to do?" Sol asked her, following close behind.
"Of course. We will follow the scent and see what the fuss is," she said. He opened his mouth to speak but she kept on talking. "Could you get Bohemian for me? Oh, and Bella and Rowan too while you're at it." He nodded and dashed off. Seria made her way back to the cavern and dogs immediately surrounded her. She eased their worries until Sol returned with the others. She gestured for them to follow her. She led them into a quiet part of the cavern where they couldn't bothered.

When everyone was seated, she told them her plan. They were going to investigate the scent and she even thought of a battle plan in case they needed to fight. "I have chosen you lot because I have recognised your strengths in both battle and speed. You all possess a strong spirit too," she told them.
"Wow, Seria..." Rowan gasped. "I'm not sure what to say..."
"Just a little compliment from me to you," she smiled.
"A little!? Gee, your funny..." Bella said and looked away in embarrassment. If that settled, they were going to leave as soon as possible. Seria made a quick announcement to the kennel before they left.

Pippa trotted up to the group. "Good luck, Rowan. I'll be waiting for your return," she said.
"Thanks, Pippa. See you when I come back," he nodded to her. She gave a smile.
"Rowan!" Bella shouted. "Are you coming or not!?" He spun around.
"Uh, yes yes! Sorry, Pippa I have to go," he said. Rowan bounded up to the patrol and then they left, leaving a kennel waiting for a safe return.

Mod Notes: I forgot about my babs from my other kennel! The Underdogs can find Echo and Denali at any point (but together!)^^

Nike licked a paw. She had gotten a thorn stuck in it the last time she was out on patrol and was following Lonin’s orders to make sure it didn’t get infected. The last thing the Underdogs needed was a sickly leader. Sure, Mako could take over, he was a strong and wise dog, but Nike loved her group and couldn’t stand the idea of not leading it. So, she obeyed her medic and stayed back from the patrols. Plus, she didn’t have to go out in the cold. It rarely snowed in their territory, but the winters were still bitter and nipped at her ears. She was used to the cold, in fact she rather enjoyed it, but she hated getting sick. Didn’t everyone? Hayes especially could relate to this. He would come back from hunting trips fluffed up and sniffling, blabbering on in his cute accent about his the wind was freezing his toes. Wait. Did she just say his accent was cute? Blinking, Nike shook herself mentally. That was no way to think of a colleague. The again, she couldn’t deny it... ‘Stop it!’ She growled mentally. She couldn’t let herself show any signs of weakness. She was trained that way. Desperately searching for something to take her mind off of him, her eyes caught Clint and River. The two had basically been attached at the hip. Sure, they were best friends, but all they did was talk to eachother. Whenever another dog would approach, River would shut her mouth and Clint would just smile and make small conversation. Clint was obviously the only dog River felt comfortable enough around, and that was fine with Nike, but she hoped the young cadet would break away from her shyness. River was well-built, sleek and swift, but also muscular and powerful. She would make a good soldier after her training. She had purposely given her to Bullet to train due to his high rank. Perhaps he could teach the pup some confidence. Speaking of which, as soon as the thought crossed her mind, Bullet and Granite approached the two young ones, mumbling something and herding them up the tunnels. Nike giggled at the cadet’s protests and claims of freezing that echoed through the camp. She remembered when she was that young. She wasn’t fond of training either, but eventually she learned to enjoy it. Now that her point of interests were gone, and her scratch was licked clean, Nike found herself with nothing to do. But then she remembered the star chamber. She was due for a chat! So, she rose to her paws, steadied herself gingerly on the scratched paw, and padded over to the dark room, preparing herself to ask for a new member.

This Moon

xxxxx"Ugh, Fir, watch where you're going, you're making my bedding all muddy." Pine muttered from the depths of his nest. You could just barely see the tip of his black and white muzzle poking out from the heaps of moss and clumped fur, his chocolate eyes glaring out at his brother. "Well, if you would just get out and play with me I wouldn't be in here, would I?", the fluffy tan pup replied, annoyed. Pine lifted his head up, pieces of grass and fluff tumbling off his head, and let out a small growl, his teeth showing for a second. He was really cross now. All he wanted to do was take in a nice nap in his clean bedding, but his obnoxious, messy brother had ruined it for him. "Well, I was going to play with you later, but now that you've bothered me I don't think I will. You're not very fun anyways."
xxxxx"Hey!" Outraged, Fir bared his teeth and crouched down, ears flattened. "Well..." Fir fumbled for a good retort, "You stink," he finally spat out. "I'd rather play with Blossom anyways." With that last word he flipped around and shot out of the nursery, growling under his breath one last time.

Last Moon

xxxxxAqer trotted alongside the steady merle Leopard dog, his paws bouncing off the mossy ground as the distant sound of waves crash along the shore. They were making their way along the coast to the narrow arm of the island connecting it to the mainland. Melody and Finn ranged somewhere ahead of them, scouting for any potential dangers and reporting every so often to him and Arrow. They were not in sight currently as their view was mainly filled with mossy boulders and the occasional strand of trees, though they could hear their occasional bark back and forth, most likely reporting their position. If there was any problems they would meet at the sight then either one of them would race back to alert the Tactician and Warrior and receive directions, or, if there was immediate danger, alert the rest of the coterie from their position. Since their group was the only coterie they would bark the easily identifiable bark-howl-bark code. When other coteries are assembled each one would have a code for their specific coterie. Hopefully, a second coterie would be formed soon. All that was needed was a Tactician, which Wren and Rain, the projected scouts for it, had requested their mate, River, who was currently training to be one. Eden and Diego, the Warrior and Medic, respectively, had agreed on this appointment.
xxxxxAqer glanced over (and up) at Arrow. He didn’t know how he felt about the strong dog when he first met him, but now he knew he could count on the gruff dog, as a warrior and a friend. Honestly, he would not know what to do without his quiet companionship and patient insights into any situation.
Suddenly, they could see the white and black form of Melody, racing low to the ground as she hurtled over a squat hill, darting between boulders. Aqer started running, though his little legs couldn't keep up with Arrow's loping pace.
xxxxx"Report, Scout," Aqer managed to say when they met up. His tongue lolled out, panting, in an attempt to cool the small Cocker Spaniel off after the small exertion.
xxxxxThe Border Collie was in the same predicament, her head drooping and sides heaving. She lifted her head and said, in broken sentences, "Finn found.... a dog.... husky... good solo," She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "Follow me," She flipped around and retraced her steps, though going at a slower pace so Aqer could keep up.

xxxxx"I wouldn't want to work with those stinky dogs anyways, the stars know where they've been." The arrogant husky, Kira, curled her lip at the thought of being in a coterie, "They wouldn't appreciate me anyways, me being a purebred and all." The liver dog said, rolling her eyes.
xxxxx"I didn't think a dog could be more vain than the Queen, but she definitely takes the bone, " Melody muttered to Finn, not taking her eyes off of the husky. Finn rolled his eyes but didn't reply.
xxxxxKira was still talking, "Long-paws would travel the world to see me, and I can see why." The husky sighed, "Those where the good old days."

[reaper is able to sit up, but walking is still too much of a task for them. there is a chance that reaper will be able to walk again, but definitely not with the agility and focus he used to have]

* seth heals easily, their wounds not having been too harmful in the long-term.
* angus is assured that he will, soon, find his brood-mother among these new lands.

Seria stopped to think as she heard the rogues words. The leader looked at her and said, "we'll give you a day to decide." Then they left, leaving Seria and her group behind. She turned to the others and they made the long journey home.

By the morning, the whole kennel was aware of the deal and a conversation had already started.
"Well, I don't feel like fighting," Lilac said.
"They are in our territory though..." Arwin replied.
"Let's discuss the pros and cons of each then," Seria suggested. "Who would like to start?" Tulip stepped forward.
"I know I'm not directly involved but allow me to help. If you fight, injuries may happen. Or even worse. If you give them prey, we would have less and need to get it part. It's also winter now."
The crowd listened and some nodded while she spoke. Eventually, Seria raised her head. "How is the fresh-kill pile looking?"
"There's quite a lot here..." Aster said while looking over the pile.
"How much left over if we give the rogues what they went?" she asked. Aster started to count.
"Wait, are you just going to hand it over?" Sandy gasped.
"Yes. I think we should be friendly first. It will make them leave us along, at least," she nodded.
"We will have still quite a bit left over," Aster said at least. Seria stood up.
"Then it's settled. Sol organise a hunting patrol now and we'll have another when I return."
"Sure," he replied and started to gather a patrol.

Seria brought a small group with her consisting of Bella, Bohemian and Conner. The four distributed the prey between them and carried a couple each. She led them to the meeting spot and surprisingly the group of rouges was already there. The leader raised his head.

"You've brought the prey I see," he said.
"The exact amount you wanted," she said. They dropped their prey in front of him. He looked it over before nodded to his group to grab it.
"As promised, we will leave," he said.
"That's great! I hope you-" Seria begun before a growl interrupted her.
"You better not come back," Bohemian growled.
"We won't. But I can't exactly make promises," he said with an evil grin. Seria stood in front of Bohemian to keep him quite.
"If you return, we won't be as friendly. Understand?" she told the leader. He looked at her and some minutes passed in silence. Finally, he smiled.
"Understand. Anyway, we will be off. Til we meet again," he nodded. Just as quick as they arrived, they vanished. The group watched them go.
"Does that mean they will come back?" Bella asked.
"Who knows. But let's return home and tell everyone that they are gone," Seria asked. They walked home and the kennel was glad to see they were safe. They told them their threat but they all made a vow to be strong if they were to come back.
