"What?" Scarface scowled, if Breezefire gave up so quickly that meant Tanglebelly was dead. "He can’t be..." He padded nervously up behind the medicine cat and stared sadly at the deputy. "There's really nothing you can do?" He whispered, the reality hitting him. Tanglebelly had probably already been dead when he'd found him this morning. "What are we going to do." He sighed, thinking of Nettlesong, Heronkit and Dovekit.

Breezefire shook her head, tearing up a little bit when Scarface scowled. "I-I..." she mumbled. "He lost too much blood to still be conscious or alive even," she whispered. "What would we tell them?" she asked the warrior. I hope the kits will still be able to live through this. They both have such bright futures and I don't want anything to ruin it for them.

Scarface moved to sit next to Breezefire and leaned into her for comfort. He didn’t look at her, instead his gaze was down on their fallen deputy. "I don’t know." He said softly, "But we have to get him to camp. It’s out of our paws now. All we can do is give him a proper burial."
