"cats of mallowclan," mudstar called from her perch on the ancient treestump almost directly in the centre of camp. "may all those old enough and well enough to catch their own prey come and sit beneath the light of the moon with me." there was a flurry of movement within her camp as cats gathered before the stump. mallowclan had grown to a considerable size over the moons.

"my friends, my family," she continued, gaze wandering languidly over the crowd of familiar faces, affection blooming warm in her chest. "tonight, i am honoured to share with you the news that three of our youngest members are ready to become apprentices." behind her, the three kittens gasped and quivered as they tried to hold themselves still. "foxkit, leopardkit and mothkit." she looked over her shoulder at the trio of littermates, flashing them a warm smile as she signaled for them to come closer and sit beside her. "i remember their birth, our fear we would loose them and mousestep, too." the kitten's dam was sitting in the front row, beside their own littermate, eyes bright and proud as they looked up at their kits. "all four of them have beaten the odds to stand here among us tonight, part of our proud clan."

mudstar's gaze found tawnyface in the crowd, on the edge of the first row. owlkit was sitting beneath her huge paws, staring up at their denmates in awe. "tawnyface." the perpetually glowering molly blinked in acknowledge, gently nudging her adoptive kit towards mousestep as she walked to stand before mudstar. "you are among the newest members of our clan. mousestep has witness your gentleness towards kittens, your own and not. may you and foxpaw bond greatly over the coming moons." the tiny ginger gasped at their new name and scampered to the edge of the stump to press their nose against tawnyface's offered one.

"fogflower," mudstar called out. the handsome silver tom jumped to his feet, almost knocking into bramblestream in his haste. "over the past moons the clan has come to truly appreciate your patience and talent for storytelling. may you and mothpaw bond greatly over the coming moons." the tortoiseshell kitten limped forwards on their three good legs to bump their nose against fogflower's.

"batnose." the lanky tom, sat beside an amused hazelleaf, blinked up at his adoptive mother in surprise. why, mudstar didn't know; apprenticeships were almost always talked about with their prospective mentors before the time came. "my son. the clan has watched you grow come apprentice to talented healer. and we hope you and leopardpaw will bond greatly over the coming moons." the tuxedo tom made his way to the edge of the stump with an affectionate smile as the eyeless apprentice confidently moved to the ledge and bumped their nose against his.

"foxpaw! leopardpaw! mothpaw!" mudstar called out as the three apprentices sat proudly in front of her.
"foxpaw! leopardpaw! mothpaw!" the clan echoed back, pride, joy and excitement laced in all their voices.

"I've heard about clans," the other cat iturrupted, "and they always sounded pretty good. Didn't know there was one around here though. Are you... Are you looking for new cats?"[b]
Mousestar and the she-cat talked more, and it ended with the new cat introducing herself as Dawn, and Mousestar offering her a clan name and a space in the fledgling clan. The two she-cats headed back to camp, Mousestar gently probing Dawn to work out what the best name would be for her. When they reached camp, Nettleleaf looked up from organising the herbs and and lifted his tail in greeting. Mousestar gestured proudly to the new cat, and introduced her.
[b]"This is Dawnflower. She's joining us, and I have to go hunting now." With that, Mousestar turned, and ran away from the camp, leaving her clanmates to get acquainted, both with themselves and their home.

Leaf Fall

Weather:

Greenleaf was dry and caused the leaves to fall early and now most of the trees seem to be bare already. The dry weather has not changed, but at least now it is starting to cool off. Predators are going to be found more often now as they try to stock up on prey before the coming winter. Prey is starting to become scarcer now, but herbs seem to be in abundance now. Rogue groups are going to be about as they try to claim as much territory as they can for the soon to be harsh leaf bare. As if this is not enough, the smell of smoke is in the air, lets hope that the fires do not spread to the territories.

Dapplecloud sniffed at one of the objects. It was shiny and had a cool touch. It was like nothing she has ever seen before. Her patrol was investigating a couple more. "Truly strange..." Rainpuddle thought aloud. "Do you think it's an omen?"
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"An omen of bad things to come. First Flamebelly was murd-"
"Hey," she flicked her tail. "We shouldn't keep talking about that."
"Fine," she huffed and walked away. Flintstripe and Brightskip were deep in the bushes investigating. Dapplecloud was about to ask them when she heard a squeal.
"What's wrong?" she shouted.
"There's a cat in here!" Brightskip squeaked. Dapplecloud and Rainpuddle joined them in the bushes. Sure enough, a brown tabby tom was locked inside one of the objects. He looked scared but relieved to finally get some company.
"Oh, I'm not alone. Please help me!" he pleaded.
"R-right!" she shouted. Working as a team, the patrol tried to help him get out. Swiping it didn't seem to work well and neither did attacking it front on. Flintstripe found a strange lever. She tapped it and it seemed to move. She tapped it harder and the object sprung open. The cat inside jumped out.

"Oh!" Rainpuddle said in surprise.
"Thank you so much," the cat panted. "Who are you lot anyway?"
"Ah, well let us explain..." Dapplecloud said. They led him back to camp while telling the story of their clan.

The clan was still on alert about the strange objects. They were showing up in many parts of their territory. Dustbreeze didn't care too much. As long as they stayed away from camp, he's fine. He was more concerned about the happenings in the clan itself. Emberstorm was still a concern but she hadn't done much lately. Then there was Greypatch and Blossomberry. They were still friends so it was more his problem then all of theirs. In fact, Greypatch invited him to come inside the nursery. Blossomberry had their kits and he heard it was a beautiful little she-cat. He decided to take their offer.

Dustbreeze crawled inside and was greeted by Greypatch. "Hey! I'm glad you could make i!" he said.
"Oh, no worries. I'm not doing much," he replied with a nod. Greypatch led him over to where Blossomberry say. She gave him a smile and her tail was wrapped around a small kit. He stared at it.
"Do you like her?" Greypatch asked.
"Ah, uh, yeah," he said. It hurt his heart a little but he was still happy for his friends. He leaned in close.
"Her name is Slientkit," Blossomberry told him.
"That's an interesting name," he gasped.
"She got it because despite everything, she didn't make a single noise. Hah!" Greypatch laughed.
"Oh..."
"Rabbitnose said she's fine though," she giggled. Dustbreeze stayed with them in the nursery and they were able to catch up. Blossomberry thought it was very brave of him to look for Hailmask. They were relieved he came home safely.
"He was your apprentice. You two are pretty close!" Greypatch remarked. He nervously laughed. Eventually, Greypatch left for a patrol. He decided to leave so Blossomberry could rest.

He crawled out and saw Foxfang staring at him. He was just as much a peculiar character as Emberstorm. Since he was an apprentice, he was mysterious and hard to read. Dustbreeze gave him a glare.
"You're close with Emberstorm, right?"
Foxfang nodded. "Tell her to leave that kit alone," he hissed. He rolled his eyes and trotted away. On that day, Dustbreeze decided to protect Slientkit from whatever Emberstorm had planned no matter what.

With new life flourishing during this marvelous green-leaf, all seems well in Fireclan. There are four new births and a kit found in the wild to help grow the clan numbers and everyone seems healthy and happy. Almost enough to ease the lines on a troubled leader's mind.
Timberstar
"One scale, one herb... something about fear... what else was in the omen?" mutters the leader as he paces back and forth in his den. "I can't remember the omen... what were those words... what with fear..." he plops down on the ground and huffs, defeated. The rising sun trickles into his den and reaches towards him, though the brambles keep the sun from reaching the leader. The bramble hides the fear.

Sorry if it's a small post but this is all I can get in seeing as I just came back from my month long trip today. I promise there will be more next time.

Mallowcloud's patrol trudged on, hoping that they would find somebody on the other end of the trail.
I hope they'll be alright, Mallowcloud thought grimly. He didn't want to traumatize Applepaw, who walked listlessly behind him.

After following the scent for a while, the group came across a fox den.

Mallowcloud cursed under his breath as Dunnockpelt and Applepaw shrunk back, probably recognizing the den from their loner days.

The white furred deputy took a few cautious steps towards the den and peeked inside.

There were three fox kits sleeping in the den, and Mallowcloud's blood ran cold.
He pulled back from the den and turned to his patrol-mates.
"There are three fox kits in there."
The rest of his patrol relaxed a bit before Mallowcloud spoke again.
"So, do we kill them or keep them alive?"

Dunnockpelt and Applepaw froze up at the dilemma Mallowcloud had just presented them with.
Applepaw, who had been speaking more and in longer sentences over the moons, returned to his stuttering and short words.
I-I don't know. I don't know... could the mother track us if-if you know, we kill h-her kits?"
"Uh... I dunno. I don't think anybody has ever wanted to get close enough to one of them to study them."
Dunnockpelt's words were intended to be humourous, but the tremble in their voice and legs betrayed their true nervousness.
"Maybe, Mallowcloud suggested, after it became clear that his patrol-mates didn't know what to do,
"We could leave the den be for now. We don't want the mother taking revenge on us after all. Then, we'll send out routine patrols - no apprentices to investigate the den. If it's clear that the mother won't be there anymore, the warriors will cave in the den. We'll go wade in the river right now. It should throw their mother off our scent."

Dunnockpelt and Applepaw didn't respond, but they nodded.

And so, the group left the fox den be for the time, and waded through the shallow, scarcely moving river, Dunnockpelt and Mallowcloud keeping a watchful eye on Applepaw as the small tom waded through the water.

Satisfied with their choice and precautions, the group left to go back to camp.

Linnetpaw's eyes lit up when they spotted Applepaw, Mallowcloud, and Dunnockpelt returning to camp.
They're okay!

They raced forward to greet their friend, and the ginger tom grinned.
"Why were you gone so long? That was like... hours!"
"We-"

The ginger-furred apprentice was cut off by Mallowcloud,
"You can talk to Linnetpaw after you catch up with me on your training. I'm going to tell the clan what happened, now, but you can tell Linnetpaw your side of the story later."

The deputy smiled and motioned for Dunnockpelt and Applepaw to join the clan that had gathered to hear why Mallowcloud's patrol had taken so long.
"We found a fox den. However, only the mother's three kits were there. We decided to leave their den be for now, as we feared the mother would find and kill us if we hurt her kits. However, I recommend sending out patrols of out more powerful and experienced warriors to investigate the milk-scent we found leading to the den as well as perhaps the den itself."

There was a brief, stunned silence for Sagestar spoke.
"It's troublesome to hear that there is a family of foxes on our territory. We'll have to keep a vigilant eye out at all times. I think you did the right thing, though. A fox is dangerous by itself, but an angry fox is a death sentence. My hunting patrol and the regular scheduled patrols will go out now. Since you weren't here to hear the patrol schedules, Mallowcloud, Applepaw, and Dunnockpelt, you will all be on my hunting patrol. Mallowcloud, where was this fox den?"
"At the very end of the western part of the territory."

The leader dipped her head.
"Patrol, please steer clear of the Western part of the territory. It's too dangerous to go anywere in that area until we're sure that the danger has passed. Meeting dismissed. We'll be safe so long as we're vigilant."

Sagestar was more on edge about her hunting patrol than she had let on. She supposed that she could've reorganized the patrols, but Wasppelt had already shared her patrol plan with her. It was on the Eastern most side of the territory - they'd be fine!
She tried to convince herself that that was indeed the case, that Wasppelt's patrol would be just fine.

As she was lost in thought, she slipped and the front half of her body slid into the river.

Embarrassed, she picked herself up and clambered back onto the shore.
"So... we're going to all be fishing today. Stay close enough by each other to help if something goes wrong, but far enough away to not disturb their catch. Is that clear?"

Her group nodded seriously, and Sagestar smiled.
"Glad to hear it. We have a lot of prey, so don't be too upset if you don't catch anything."

With that, they seperated along the river. Mallowcloud was within shouting distance of her, as was Applepaw. Sagestar figured it'd be most important to have the most experienced cat closest to the youngest.

"I caught one! I caught one!"
Applepaw's head peeked out of the water, is ginger fur wet and sticking to his face. In his jaws was a large fish.

Applepaw pulled the fish away from the shore and admired his catch while also trying to shake the water from his fur.

With a bright smile, Sagestar searched the water again, eventually spotting a tiny fish - a minnow, swimming in the water.

With a quick strike, Sagestar had the tiny fish in her jaws, carefully trying not to swallow the little thing.

She and Applepaw searched the water around them for more fish, but none swam by. Eventually, Sagestar pulled back and looked around her. Mallowcloud had a large fish beside him, but Dunnockpelt hadn't caught anything yet.

Normally, Sagestar would wait until everybody had caught something, but unfortunately, there wasn't any time for that today.

She padded over to the other cat.
"Hey, Dunnockpelt? We're done for today."

The young warrior sagged, and Sagestar told her other two hunting-mates that the hunt was over.

Satisfied with their catches, the group headed back to camp.

It wasn't long before Wasppelt's patrol encountered something... interesting.

Sitting at the edge of Eastern RainClan territory was a tabby, his green eyes calm and serious.
"Hello. I'm Dust. Who are you? Is this your territory?"

Wasppelt blinked in suprise. Usually, cats they met on the border weren't so polite, and usually didn't care about the scent markers.
"Errr... I'm Wasppelt. Yes, this is RainClan territory. What are you doing here?"
"Huh. You're not the leader then, pity. I really should've known. You don't look like a Sage."
"Wait, you know-"

The cat - Dust - sighed.
"Yes, of course I know Sagestar! Every cat outside of your borders knows Sagestar. Now, can I join you lot or not?"

Wasppelt froze. This cat was.... upfront? Pushy? Rude? Polite?
He was an enigma, Wasppelt decided.

"Errr... yes. I suppose you may join."
Dust dipped his head in thanks and stepped over the borderline, following the group back to camp.

Sagestar seemed surprised at the contained enthusiasm that the new cat held, who noted his agility and was then named Dusttail.

Wasppelt smiled warmly. Dusttail would be a welcome - if odd addition to the clan.

Briarleaf twitched her tail, annoyed. The threat of foxes had barred anybody who was not a part of one of the routine patrols to the den to stay far away from the Western part of the territory - where all the bets herbs were!

It took hours upon hours of walking through thornbushes, wading through mud, and tripping over roots for Briarleaf to finally find a bundle of herbs.

Dock was good, she supposed. Versatile, although not much of anything in a crisis. She would've much rather collected herbs that would work for bigger wounds, with the fox around.

She pulled up the plant, and not wanting to go through everything that she'd done to get there, when she had to be t ground level to properly search, Briarleaf scrambled up a tree and went back to camp that way.

Applepaw shifted his paws as Mallowcloud drilled him on how to properly fish. He'd caught a fish earlier that same day, so Mallowcloud skimmed through the basics, but all the fish currently swimming around in the water evaded his jaws.

Finally Applepaw clamped his jaws onto a fish - it wasn't big, but it wasn't small either.

Mallowcloud's eyes lit up.
"Good job Applepaw! Our prey pile is already a good size, maybe Sagestar will take it to the moonpool when she goes tonight?""

Applepaw's eyes lit up. His catch? Given to StarClan? That would be wonderful!
Mallowcloud snapped him out of his fantasy of StarClan taking his catch from the waters of the pool.
"Well, I think I've covered everything. It seems that Sagestar and Linnetpaw are wrapping up as well. You've progressed excellently, Applepaw/ Your warrior assesment is coming up in just two moons, you know. Are you excited?"

A wave of emotions rushed over the apprentice - dread, anticipation, even a little bit of remorse at the thought of transitioning from apprentice to warrior. He'd have so many more duties! More would be expected from him, hed have mpre freedom... and he had no idea what to do with any of it.

But, when it all came together, he was excited.
"Of course I am! What do you think my warrior name will be?"

The deputy grinned.
"That's anybody's guess. But, I'm a big part of deciding what your name will be, since I'm your mentor. What do you think you'll be, and what do you want to be?"

Applepaw thought for a moment about what to say next.
"I want to be a -cloud. Like you."

There was a pause, a pleased purr, and then...
"You know what, I think that suits you. Come on, let's go back to camp. I can't guarentee that'll be your suffix, but I'll bring up your patience and compusure with Sagestar. I would have done that anyways, though -
I really think you're a -cloud."

As they headed back to camp, Applepaw spotted Linnetpaw, talking excitedly with their mentor. Applepaw had picked up his fish before they left, but Linnetpaw didn't have anything. Nevertheless, Applepaw figured that his friend would wind up being a -whisker.

With a warm purr in his throat, Applepaw sped up to catch up with mentor.
Two moons couldn't go by fast enough.

Wasppelt stared intently at the black-and-white apprentice she was mentorng. Swiftpaw was currently pouncing on leaves, stones, insects, everything he could see using the tips Wasppelt had given him.

Her eyes flitted from object to object, pleading silently that Swiftpaw wouldn't hurt himself somehow. She was almost positive that Swiftpaw had cut his paw pad during their training session together. He hadn't told her, but it did really seem like he'd just been too embarassed - or scared to tell her that he was in pain.

It was her fault for being too rough with him. But still... she feared that the world he lived in would crush the naivety and innocence out of him. To put it simply, she had no idea what to do.

"Waspelt? Wasppelt!"
"Hmm?"
"You've gotta watch me! You're my mentor, you're supposed to pay attention so you can actually mentor me!"
Embarassed, Wasppelt pulled herself away from her thoughts and watched her apprentice.
"Okay, okay, now, how is... this!"
The little cat lept onto the little bug in front of him, with zipped away before he could catch it.

"That was just a warm up! Keep watching!"
With a little chuckle, Wasppelt continued to watch her apprentice try to catch little objects.
It would take a lot to crush his spirit.

Sagestar padded into the center of the camp as the rest of the clan gathered around her to hear the patrol schedules.
"Alright now. You may all eat while I speak."

The clan took their shares from the prey pile, and Sagestar took her own for after she was done and began talking.
"Okay. there will be a hunting patrol that keeps to the Eastern part of the territory. Dusttail, Applepaw, Linnetpaw, and Swiftpaw. Be careful. Mallowcloud, Dunnockpelt, Wasppelt and I will patrol near the fox den, and keep a careful eye out for the mother. Briarleaf, could you hunt for herbs and steer clear of the West? Mallowcloud and I already agreed to train both Linnetpaw and Applepaw in Stealth, and Wasppelt told me that she'll be teaching Swiftpaw how to climb. Anyway, I'll be taking the fish that Applepaw caught during his training session to the moonpool. I'll be asking for a warrior to help apprentice Campionclaw's kits. Meeting over."

With that, Sagestar ate her share, picked up the offering, and headed to the moonpool.

Sagestar had walked the path to the moonpool enough that by now, she had it almost memorised. The time it took for her to reach the glittering pool was shortened upon each visit, and this was the shortest yet, although she did often check her surroundings out of fear of the fox.

She sat in front of the pool and dropped the fish into it.
"StarClan, Campionclaw's kits are due soon. Please send me a warrior in the case that we need a lot of warriors to mentor them, and so that we have more warriors to hunt and defend for us."
And with that, she pulled back and waited.

[Ending the Patrol: Mallowcloud's patrol leaves the den be for now, worrying that the fox kits' mother would attack the clan if she was able to track down who killed her kits. They wade in the shallow river to throw the mother off their scent, and then go back to camp and report the fox den - patrols will be sent out to investigate the den, and if it's clear that the mother won't be back, they'll cave it in.]

Cloudpaw found herself wandering out of the camp in search of a sturdy stick that could be used for Suntail's kitting. The she-cat had felt some tightening in her stomach this morning, and while the kits weren't on their way yet, they would definitely be coming soon. Pinedust had offered to go with her given the recent rogue sightings near the edges of camp. Olivestar had ordered that no cat should leave the camp alone, and while Cloudpaw enjoyed moments by herself, she didn't mind the company of Pinedust. Truthfully, she think he needed it more than he let on. "Leaf-fall is definitely making a move here, I worry about the smoke on the air. It's far away, but it's still unsettling. Hopefully you and Splashpelt can gather enough herbs for Leaf-bare, I have a feeling it'll be a tough one." He mused, carefully placing his paws so that they didn't trip over any of the undergrowth. His words gave Cloudpaw a bit of unease, though she had heard Splashpelt mention that this leaf-bare didn't look pleasant. "What else do you notice around the forest?" She asked, careful to look for any sticks that might be lying nearby.
The striped tom stopped walking, taking a few moments to listen for something she couldn't hear. "The birds. There is a family of larks not far from here, which is odd for this time of year. It sounds like the lark just had hatchlings, and I can hear her singing so happily."
There was something about his words that stirred a feeling in Cloudpaw, and she sensed a need to see this for herself. "Can you take me there, please? That might be a good place to find a sturdy stick for Suntail." She asked, moving beside him excitedly as he lead her deeper into the forest. With each pawstep, she could begin to hear a faint singing from far away. It's miraculous that he was able to hear this far off..his senses are amazing. Eventually, they reached a sturdy tree where the singing was at it's loudest, and small chirps could be heard from up above. "I'm pretty sure the mother is the one singing. She has found such a safe home for her family here in the woods, the perfect place to raise them. I could hear them back at camp, day and night. A moon ago I could hear the lark, her songs were so sad and mournful. Now she is filled with joy, and I had to come see it for myself so I could congratulate her, in a way." Pinedust spoke quietly, his words full of a sense of understanding and appreciation. "Thank you for letting me join you, Cloudpaw. Something told me you were the one I had to experience this with."
The Medicine Cat Apprentice could hardly believe it as she looked up at the trees, mouth agape. "Thank you, Pinedust. This is something I definitely needed to see. I believe it could be a sign from StarClan. We should head back to camp so I can let Splashpelt know." She meowed, turning around in the direction of camp. As she did so, something long whacked her on the head and bounced onto the ground. "A stick! It's perfect, too. Where did that fall from?" Looking up, Cloudpaw's eyes landed on the nest of larks, where the mother stared directly down at the cat with a friendly chirp.

Upon entering camp, Cloudpaw was surprised to find a large gathering of cats around Olivestar and Poppyflower. "Jayfrost, Lynxtuft, Whitewing, and Rowanfur, you'll be joining us. We don't want to fight the rogues, but we need you all to be prepared in case something does break out. Hopefully we can just get them to leave our territory." The chosen cats stepped forward, fur bristling in anticipation. Snowbird went to touch noses with her mate before stepping back to let Cloudpaw and Pinedust enter the circle. "Are you guys going after the rogues?" She asked, handing the stick over to Rowanfur so he could bring it to Suntail before leaving. "We are going to figure out why they are here, first. We don't want a fight, but with rogues you never know what could happen. With StarClan on our side, we should be safe. Come on, lets go!" Poppyflower called, leading the cats out of the camp.
An uncomfortable silence flickered among the remaining cats, who no doubt felt worried about their clanmates being gone. The few moments were enough to make Cloudpaw forget about her priorities, though they came back to her with a gasp. "Splashpelt! I need you to get Larksong and Mooseheart. Bring them to the Medicine Cat Den please."
Splashpelt gave her apprentice a questionable look before going off to find the pair, leaving Cloudpaw to turn back to Pinedust. "Having you with me really helped today, Pinedust. I've been struggling with something for a while now, and I think that because of you it can be resolved. Thank you."
The blind tom let out a pleased purr, tail curling around his paws. "Bringing a family close together is my pleasure. Everyone deserves to feel safe in the Clan with someone they love." He meowed, a faint sigh trailing off the edge of his words. Cloudpaw gently set her tail on his shoulder in comfort, glancing around the camp in wonder. "You deserve that too, Pinedust. You are a great warrior of PebbleClan, one day you'll get that chance to have a family too."
WIth that, the she-cat departed from the warrior and headed into the Medicine Cat Den where Splashpelt, Larksong, and Mooseheart were already waiting. "I'm sorry to bring you all here at such a bad time, but I couldn't waste a moment. StarClan sent me a sign, and it's about you, Larksong."
The gray she-cat reacted sharply, looking at Cloudpaw in surprise. "Me? Are they upset with me for something?" Pain and emotional hurt edged her voice as Moosehear scooted in closer to her for comfort. Cloudpaw shook her head and began to explain everything, even including Pinedust and him leading her. "I believe you are meant to have another litter, here in the forest, Larksong. I know it was a sign from StarClan telling me you were needed here, where you could be happy and safe with your kits. If you take it easy we will make sure everything goes smoothly."
Splashpelt hadn't spoken a word during the entire conversation, watching as the mated pair looked at each other uneasily. "We had planned on having another litter..but we were going to try and have it as kittypets. I need to think about this a little bit, but thank you for letting us know." Mooseheart said quietly, leading Larksong out of the den. Only then did Splashpelt open her mouth to speak. "I was a little worried when you gathered us all in here, Cloudpaw. I had thought that maybe you were going to try and convince Larksong and Mooseheart to stay. I should've trusted you more, and I apologize for having those doubts. Besides that, I'm extremely proud of you. I wish you would've spoken to me first, but I can see that this was the best time for you. StarClan trusts you with important signs, and believes in your ability to carry our your duties. You have been an amazing Medicine Cat Apprentice, but after this I don't believe there is anything more I could teach you."
Cloudpaw couldn't believe her ears.
"Cloudpaw, you have proven yourself worthy of earning your Medicine Cat name. Do you promise to uphold your loyalty to PebbleClan, and always do what is best for the Clan?"
"I do"
"Do you promise to always trust in StarClan, and believe in them even when times seem dark?"
"I do"
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your Medicine Cat name. Cloudpaw, from this point on you will be known as Cloudwing. We would normally head to the Moonpool tonight, but I have a feeling Suntail will be kitting soon, so we will go tomorrow. Get some rest for now."

lionfrost stared at the mouse at his feet. he'd selected it from the fresh-kill pile, fully knowing he wasn't going to take a single bite out of it. the simple thought of eating made him feel sick. every word he spoke made his mouth taste like bile, every step he took made his legs feel weak and every breath made him feel like dizzy. his heart beated loudly against his chest, so loudly he almost couldn't hear anything else. his vision had began to blur and the world around him was spinning- 'lionfrost!' snapping out of a daze, the orange tom looked up, into cindertooth's worried amber eyes. 'i asked if you were alright. you seem pale; are you ill?' her brother, wolfcry, was sitting beside her. he also seemed troubled by the maine coon's strange behaviour. suddenly, all of his problems were solved. the debate that had been tearing lionfrost apart for the last few days was resolved. these cats cared for him. they truly did. if he was feeling sick, they didn't tell him to shake it off, they asked if he wanted to go to the medicine cat den. if he was hungry, they'd offer him a piece of meat from the fresh-kill pile, they didn't laugh and tell him he'd eat later in the day (which he learned was a blatant lie). their consern was legitimate, not fake. lionfrost now knew which world he belonged to. he jumped to his feet, nearly ran to foxstar's den, and once inside, looked straight into his leader's eyes and said: 'there's something you urgently need to know.'
