For the swirl chickens, may also consider since two are hens and two are roosters, using those to help differentiate. I feel like naming them after where the swirls are may get confusing for some, considering that three of them have swirl lines that originate from their eyes, two have swirls around/on their wings, and three have swirls in the neck region. I can understand the reasoning for each, but it may be confusing for people who don't have them all lined up, and even with that, I'm not sure there would be a defining way to tell which swirls are being referred to on which chicken.

Just throwing out ideas, but I could see the hens just being called green swirl hen and brown swirl hen since one has considerably more green (yellow? green-yellow? idk). Roosters are a little less so. Leg color and beak color could possibly be used as well.

I've been going through and researching some pet names from the various discussion topics over the years, and I had been updating the various unofficial name guide topics with my discoveries (especially horses/ponies since they were so out of date). Hopefully that will be useful to you guys!

Great to see this thread

I went straight to the third post because I can't really help with new pet names :'D

I looked through Dog names 2008, 2009, and 2010, and for the most part I didn't see straight errors (these are highlighted in red below), but I did see minor things that makes me twitch a little and some additional names that I feel like are missing.

Dog names 2008:

• The "non" names are hyphenated. I feel like I'm being nitpicky but it bothers me that "Non-tag", "Non-swirl", "Non-jewel", "Non-coon", and "Non-balloon" are all hyphenated in the wiki when they're rarely if ever hyphenated by users on the forums. By now, I see "Nontag", "Nonswirl", "Nonjewel", "Noncoon", and "Nonballoon" as single units, not two units connected by hyphens.


• October litter: Technically, the blue/aqua, red, and orange October litters are/were all part of one big litter. I can understand keeping them separate in the wiki, though. Also, maybe I'm just out of the loop but I thought "teal" was also used for the blue/aqua litter. But again my knowledge is probably outdated there


• "Red October Moon": I swear I've also seen "Pink October Moon". Can someone confirm/counter?


• "Tinsel/Tree Dog": Could be "Christmas Tree/Tinsel Dog"


• "Socks/Tan Santa": I've heard this called the Tan Santa Dog and the Tan Sock Dog, but I feel like I've never heard this called the Socks Santa, which is one of the names that is currently suggested there...


• "Santa Hat Advent": sometimes preceded by "Cream" to make "Cream Santa Hat Advent" or something similar


• "White Snowflake Advent": sometimes has "Grown" in the name, sometimes has "Scarf" in place of "Snowflake"


• "Point-eared Border Collie/Laika": sometimes has "Black and White" in the name (it's also the only black and white Advent 2008 dog)


• "Cookie Advent": should probably start with "Brown"...


• "Mustard Heart Advent" and "Purple Husky/Heart": oh boy I am twitching so bad at this LOL they've got the exact same design in different colors, but the same cannot be said for their names, apparently... xD "Mustard Husky/Heart Advent" and "Purple Husky/Heart Advent"

and then Dog names 2009:

• "Common Robot": also "Silver Robot", I'm pretty sure


• "Scribble Dog": .......... okay who put that down and why isn't there the modifier of "Long-tailed" when this isn't exactly a household name xD (as opposed to, say, Red Rose Dog and Red X Dog)


• "released for CS's first anniversary; had six outcomes and an adoption limit of four"

• "Demon/Devil PPS": also "Blood PPS"


• "Unreleased (UR) Dog": might want to update this now that there's more than one "unreleased dog" xD


• "Lion-tail Store Dogs": this is just as twitch-inducing as seeing "Non-tag" etc xD


• "Litter" and "Gold-marked CS Cake Dog": this is also the only dog released for CS's 2nd birthday; I don't have any names for the "litter" lol but it's... probably not called "Litter"

and then Advent 2010: "Yulyhn Sled Litter"--entire table has "Yulynh" misspelled

Thanks, nickjr - that's awesome! ^^ I've gone through and made most of those changes, so those will be showing up once the edits get approved.

For the additional names, I try to avoid putting too many names or variations in there, usually no more than two variations for a single outcome, or making the names really long, so I left out 'Black and White' on the Laika, 'Teal' on the Octobers, 'Grown' on the White Snowflake, 'Cream' on the Santa Hat and 'Christmas' on the Tinsel, since those are reasonably identifiable without the additions. The other name additions like 'Brown', 'Scarf' and 'Longtailed' have been added though. :3 I also changed 'Socks/Tan Santa' to Tan Santa/Sockdog, since it looks like the Socks Santa name died out and I got far more hits from Sockdog.

It's funny how much some of the names have changed or become super obsolete over time - there were some serious clunkers that I zapped right in the conversion phase. XD One of the nice things with the conversion process is I get to actually check over all the names and update them as needed, especially ones that got given names while still growing and ended up stuck as, like, 'Blue Blanket 2nd Gen' forever. >.>

As a side-note, let me know if you see any spots where the table says just 'Litter', 'Artist' or 'named for'. Those are from my table template and are all supposed to be either filled in or deleted from the table, so they're always errors.

2016 chicken guide had an error where the Scythe chicken's litter name was set to "Grown-Up Newborn" litter. I've already fixed it, change just needs to be approved, so no need to point it out^^

The 2013 chickens are now nearly done, thanks everyone who pitched in with suggestions c:
The only thing that's still been iffy were the swirly chickens: Here's three sets of suggestions based on the discussion, any thoughts on them?
