Alright, now that I've got all but 1 event pet (blasted all gray macaw baby), I wanted to reflect a bit on the event. I'm sorry, its so long!
It went from fun, to frustrating (too many resort chip trade ins! Eek), to fun again (resort chip exchange - yay!). I know some people were sorry to see the chip exchange because it will likely have some reflection on the rarity if chip pets, but not everyone cares so much for rarity
I for one dont. I have a goal on CS to get every pet! It's a huge goal and since I only joined in 2010, it's pretty difficult anyways. What u can usually count on is the years I AM here. But CS is a past time for me. I work full time, have a toddler and carrying our second child, which means lots of doctor appointments. I also run a rattery and have other hobbies. This isnt me complaining, I LOVE my life! But I like CS because it combines 2 of my passions, art and animals! It's a place I come to unwind and just have fun! I love the events because it helps to take my kind off the stress of life and some challenge is fun! But I have to say, this event started to get quite difficult with the high number of tokens and the multiple chip trade ins when the chance of getting chips from the banner were so low. I really started to get disappointed and I honestly felt like I wouldnt even he able to get all the pets in this event. I am SO THANKFUL to the CS team that they considered the difficulty that some of us faced and gave us a way to catch up. That really made the event for me and I cant thank them enough. Sure the rarity may decrease a bit, but at least we all have a better chance of completing sets, which is pretty much most of CS's goal (just look at the trade threads).
Past that, I do feel the same about some others who found the event a bit disappointing as far as the story goes. I read everything but it just felt like something was missing, or maybe the event (as a story goes) was a bit rushed. I always enjoyed the summer events that had plots and stuff to them. Like, you need these tokens to get this map piece and then trade the map piece for a pet. They made you think more and feel like you were participating more in the story. With this event, I was pretty much just trading in tokens and not really feeling like I was involved beyond.. well... trading in tokens for pets.
Where the story was a bit uninvolved, the pets have been great! I think it really made up for it in fact! I love the jungle theme and I love how most of the pets were based off some jungle species. I really enjoy looking at CS pets and being able to identify what the pet was based off. Although I do love the regular artsy stuff, I love the pets that are based on REAL animals.
Can I just throw this out there for whatever CS artist does the rats? It's totally not event related but it's related to what I just mentioned. THERE ARE ENOUGH RAT VARIETIES IN EXISTANCE TO GET THROUGH A WHOLE YEAR OF RAT OUTCOMES. I have wanted to see some real rat varieties on the rat lines since FOREVER! I breed pet rats and seriously, come talk to me and I can send you photos galore if some AMAZING rat varieties which would look super cool. I'm not even kidding here. Someone get in touch!
Ok, I'm sorry, back on topic!
I'll draw this to a close because it's really long, I know, if you've read this far, i give you mad props!
My favorite pet this event us hands down the brazilian rainbow dragon. I have a BRB myself, my favorite snake I own and probably ever will own. It would have been awesome to have an actual snake lineart but I'll take what i can get. The art behind them was great, they really nailed it! I will agree with others though that maybe in the future, a snake lineart would be really cool. The argument that they wouldnt give much can as space.. i mean, have you seen how tiny the dwarf hamster lines are?? Or even the Syrian lines. You could put so much more design on a snake lineart, even stretched out, than you can on the hamster lines. Theres so many snake owners who would appreciate this! And also, back to the realism, there are SO many snake species and morphs that literally the possibilities are endless. I dont know if anyone has looked up ball python morphs, but seriously, I'm pretty sure there are thousands of them alone. Then you've got some cool ones like retics and hognose and corns and kings and an assortment of boas and pythons. It would be so so cool and I would have at least 5 hoards of snakes for each of my own snakes which, ahem, would make super cool designs (BRB, western hognose, madagascar speckled hognose, Kenyan sand boa, amazon tree boa).
But yeah, the BRB dragon was totally spot on, LOVE IT!
