I love the snake dragons but--

I want real snakes--

The problem with having a real snake species on CS is that it would provide so little room for designs. You could come up with some natural snake designs sure, but ideas would run out pretty quickly. The thin, long shape would make it very difficult to come up with something new and fresh (Think like the caterpillars except longer) without seeming like copies of previous designs.

You could say the same for dwarf hamsters, they offer VERY little room for design. But they are still used pretty often.
If there was a coiled snake lineart you could use them as canvases, kind of like the chickens often are

The snake dragons are so bright and perfect, I gasped when I saw them!

And those hamsters EEEEEE. I used to work in entomology so I have a very special place in my heart for the creepies and the crawlies of the world. It's that a lantern fly I see?

So pleased to get the forest spirits too, I hoped we would! Wish we'd got the rubber ducks too though, hahahah. They're adorable.

OOOOH MAN! I feel you on the creepy crawlies! When I saw that first little hamster I fell in LOVE (yay for fellow entomology lover)! And those birds are just to die for!! I HAVE to get my hands on them all!! Plus those spirit items are much more amazing then I hoped for!!

All in all?

12/10 for the event art, lines, and pets!

I feel like I'm the only one who isn't bowled over by the parrot parrots They are definitely pretty and it's great to have new lines, but I think I would've preferred a frontal view of the pet so you can see chest, cool body details, feet, etc. I will of course keep trying to get all the varieties though, they are still nice.

My biggest disappointment is something I've been griping about for a while time now-- no chicken pets! You know what the last summer event to include chicken lines was? Slumber party 2013, edited into ravens. I don't know, I'm beginning to feel that chickens are the least popular pet with some artists/staff and or only a few people have permission to edit them. They're some of my favorite pets and lines, so I'm always crossing my fingers that they'll get to participate in events. Junglefowl would've fit in perfectly.

I am pretty dang thrilled to see the insect inspired hamsters, even more than the snake patterned dragons. Insects are so awesome and beautiful but are horrendously overlooked. This was a great pet series to end the event on. And the resort chip swap is a lifesaver, I don't know what I would've done without it.

I bet my post would go unnoticed in the Casual Chat thread so I'll share my thoughts here.

This event was a bit underwhelming for me and I'm a bit disappointed.
The plot seemed a bit... dry to me? There was barely anything, just the opening of the golf course, the spirits becoming angered and declaring war on the construction vehicles, and the overgrowth of the jungle that required everyone to evacuate.
Last year's was more exciting with the Deep-sea Investigation Squad and solving the mystery plot. We even hit 3 casual chat threads. I know the last few days have been to catch up but I was hoping for something a bit more exciting, like a plot twist where the construction workers attack back or something.

I know a lot of people have said this but I also think there were too many tokens to keep track of. I appreciate tonight's token trade feature but I was still overwhelmed... fewer tokens would be much better next year. The Easter/Halloween events are much easier in my opinion even though sometimes I feel as if I'm cursed with a certain token. It's an easy trade on the swap thread.

The pets were pretty cool, I fell in love with the rainbow macaw from tonight. They were all very colorful and fun. The items were also nice as well, the plushies being my personal favorite. The Superb Bird-of-Paradise is a close second. I had just hoped for a few more, because personally I feel like we have had fewer non-event items released lately compared to earlier years.

I never really had any NPCs I was "attached" to. Last year I liked Herringbone, the Princess, and Cuttler but this year none of them stuck out to me, although I do ship Honey.

Two minigames were a surprise to me, as I was only expecting one. The staff ducks were a pleasant surprise. Although the minigolf game was more simple than the duck race I still liked getting the eggs.

These are just my thoughts, maybe I was a bit spoiled by last year's event and the bar was a bit high for me this year, but I'm not sure how it compares to the previous year's.

I have to agree with you to some extent. I loved the pet designs and the variety of them, and on your point of tokens, I did find it a bit overwelming. In addition, I did feel the story was dry if non-existent, BUT this reminds me of the Medieval Faire event which was the first of these summer events I participated in. The story was simple but the pets stood out a lot. I do kinda wish that there was a more complex story like theyve been doing for the past 3-4 years, but I'm not complaining too much, I love these events no matter how they are because the pet designs are always surprising and exciting and the chat forums are always fun!

I love the new parrot growth tonight! I got a pile of the new eggs to boot but I honestly cant wait for my chickie to fully grow into that marvolous bird!!

Lunar moth (Edit apologies it's a comet moth I'm half asleep and useless)

Atlas beetle (I originally said stag but I'm pretty sure it's actually an atlas)

This one is definitely a mood with me. I am super thrilled about all the birds and bird-based pets we've gotten, they're all gorgeous and I love the artists for making them.
But the chickens are my favourite CS species, and every summer event I keep hoping we will get some. They had so much potential for this theme, too.
So not seeing any made me rather sad :c
