2018 Summer Event: Casual Chat v2

I know I'm "salty" and bashing this event into oblivion with a stick, but this is a thread to share your thoughts about the event. If someone doesn't want their fun to be ruined, they don't have to read any complaint posts. I never said I flat out hated it, nobody did. We have every right to express ourselves if we're upset with a part of the event or had troubles with something. Sorry if people expressing their opinion, just like you, ruined the fun. Criticism is a given, regardless if this was an Easter event or some monthly adopt. Everyone will have problems, and I don't think everyone should keep saying "salty group of people", cause that's just a bit rude. I was naive at first with my posts cause I wasn't exactly set into an opinion, but now that I am, I'm feeling a bit uneasy about disliking this event. We all are entitled to our own opinions regarding this summer adventure, and there is tons of criticism in this thread for the staff on stuff they could improve upon. If everything was happy-go-lucky and dandelions, there would be no need to complain in the first place, but that isn't the case. If you don't like people complaining about the event, don't complain about them--cause that in itself ruins the fun as well.

Anyways, anyone have luck with resort chips lately? I got seeds from my last two banners but I've had chips a lot lately. Loots like the RNG gods heard my pleas.

Agreed! I love the pets, *especially* the new linearts we got, and the event is low-key which I honestly like. I don't really care about the story, I usually ignore it/get confused at some point and lose track of what's going on and then don't bother catching back up so that part doesn't really affect me. I just wish the tokens had been done better, especially the resort tokens.

Sadly, no. I'm still getting fruit and trees and one single chip since roll-over, though I haven't been on the ball with the banners as well as I suppose I could have been.

@Coastal Coyote-You took the words right out of my mouth. That is exactly how I've been feeling. I love this event but all these same salty groups of people need to stop ruining the fun.

Everybody is allowed an opinion on things as long as it is done maturely; there is nothing that says "Only praise allowed!" It's people posting about their issues and concerns that ends up furthering progress to make bigger, better, more streamlined events!

I don't think anybody should feel scared off or bullied into not posting how they feel, regardless if it's praise or critique. In fact, I think by people coming together and realizing they aren't the only ones having struggles... it's kind of cathartic. You don't feel like the unluckiest person on CS anymore, lol.

I think it's less telling people "they can't state their opinions" and more of a "do it maturely" kinda comment. Let's be honest here, not all, but a lot of the comments were very...not sure of the word but they were a bit much. There is a big difference between honest criticising and just plain old complaining. I think 2 days previously at least the comments that were about what was wrong with the event were more "friendly" (not really the word I'm looking for)? More put together? If you catch my drift?

Honestly, I feel like this event would have been a lot more interesting if there had been more dialogue and interaction between the NPC's like the previous years. (Other than Simone liking Harold this late in the event.) Maybe have them all talking about the resort's expansion and tell rumors about the spirits, to get us more hyped and intrigued.

It just seems like... nothing really happened. There was no big surprise, not even really a mystery to solve, except the spirits, I suppose. I know the event's not over, but it's close enough anyhow. The idea behind the story was a good one, but I feel it could have been better presented.

I think they should have built a real mystery around it, have the NPC's wonder who's trying to sabotage their machinery, mention sightings of ghosts in the jungle, etc. Then the leader of the spirits (an event exclusive NPC) shows up at the shrine asking for help. We help mediate between the resort staff and the spirits, the forest grows back, everyone's happy, no innocent bulldozers get destroyed. :'(

But as far as the pets and artwork go, the staff outdid themselves. I really love all the pets, and many of them are close if not exactly the stuff I was hoping for from this type of event! And the scenery items are so awesome! <3

I guess we can never have another Egypt event. I know I'm probably being too pessimistic, and that's probably due to my general life problems. I really don't mean to be critical, just share my two cents on the subject. All in all, the event was great, everyone did a wonderful job, and I'm very thankful they put these events on for us!

Edit: However, there better be some event exclusive NPC's or I will cry internally

It does seem like the bulldozers are on their own sentient, and not being driven and property of the resort owners

Oh yes, I wanted to ask before but was the Egyptian event that great? When I first joined the site, I fell in love with the pet designs and it was one of the first things I added to my wish list but it seems as if it was even more spectacular to have participated in it.

I remember it being rather frustrating with the brick pile, but I loved some of the more unique pets they had so it felt like it balanced out. I'll probably feel the same after this event is over, with the beautiful hybrid pets and the new bird lineart... because I definitely remember being at least as frustrated with the brick pile at that event as I am with these resort chips this event.

But it was overall a fun event, even if it wasn't my favorite.

It really was. There was mystery, suspense, frustration, and intrigue as we all waited for the bar to fill up (by trading in map tokens) and the pyramid to open. And when it did, there were still locked rooms, one of which ended up being where Queen Cleocatra lived. She cursed the town with scarab beetles and we had to vote between her and the archaeologist, Archie, about whether or not to take her artifacts to a museum (she won the vote). And then people started shipping them. It was so awesome.
