I don’t know, I don’t mind if people like this series or anything, I just really needed to get that off my chest.

I agree with you entirely, OTS was really disappointing IMO, along with Power of Three. I on the flipside really love Hollyleaf because she was a nice change of pace, rather than a generic protagonist she was finally someone that was a rules person that broke and did bad things, but didn't wasn't a villain. She wasn't black and white like most of the recent series' characters.

As for Mapleshade, I agree. I love her as a villain but she did do terrible things--and didn't regret them or do anything to reprove her loyalty, unlike Hollyleaf who sacrificed herself in the end. Mapleshade wanted the Dark Forest--so it was what she deserved.

And so did Ashfur, because he was the same way. >:/ The cat was practically a sociopath, he was murderous and had no care for anyone else. His death was unfair, but so was Tigerstar's. He was an awful cat and I'm glad at least the Erins regret their decision to put him in StarClan.

I didn't know they regretted it and I'm honestly glad they do. Imo it gives a terrible message to kids and a dangerous one at that. The whole, "It's okay because he loved to much!" Apply that to everyday situations, and things get messed up real quick.

There were so many pronoun mistakes, name mistakes, fur color mix-ups and inconsistent character descriptions, etc. It wasn't a bad story but after awhile it got irritating. Yeah! The biggest mistake is that in the Ultimate Guide, it said nothing about how Moth Flight followed the moth or about how she met Micah!

First of all, why make the first book a traveling book? I don’t personally find traveling books as boring as most fans of the series claim them to be, but at least wait until later in the series so we can spend some time with the clans themselves first? Second, Dovewing. Potentially the most boring, whiny, and at times generic main protagonist I have ever had the displeasure of reading. First she whines about having powers. Then she whines when her powers don’t work. Make up your mind??? I really disliked the concept of the three to begin with (Although I still adore Jayfeather as a character, he would have been just as good without powers.) and Dovewing just pushed it over the edge for me. I’m not a huge fan of Hollyleaf, but she was a way more likeable character.

Forbidden love and love triangles. Why. Why forbidden love again? We have seen this plot done way too many times. I swear, if they try it again in Vision of shadows I am actually going to scream. Most the time these relationships aren’t even interesting to read about, and Dovewing X Tigerheart does not fix this issue. Bumblestripe could be annoying, but his heart was in the right place, and he was a good guy, so why turn him down for someone in a different clan? So many times did I feel tempted to just skip Dovewings chapters entirely.

^^^ This. All of the reasons stated here are some of the many reasons I also had a
problem with Omen of the Stars, Lionblaze also really ruined it for me. His relationship with Cinderheart
was really awkward (probably because Cinderheart's existence sort of creeps me out and makes no sense,)
his power is literal invincibility, he goes through the exact same internal struggle Bramblestar did, and is a
complete jerk to Heathertail for no reason after the tunnel incident. Like I understand they couldn't be friends
anymore, but Heathertail was really undeserving of being blamed so harshly when as far as I remember she had
nothing to do with it.

And yeah, Mapleshade and Ashfur should be in the Dark Forest,
they didn't feel regret or ask for forgiveness for any of the horrible
things they did.

Also this is probably really unpopular opinion, but I actually liked New Prophecy
more than any of the other archs? I just liked the characters way better in those
books and the drama was far more realistic and tense than the original or the
subsequent archs in my opinion. Also the tribe was really interesting; even though I've
retired from reading the series, it would still be cool if they made a sub series just
on the modern tribe.

I haven't been able to finish whatever book comes after tigerheart's shadow. That was the worst book I have ever read. tHEy LITERALLY RESURRECTED A CAT by making him leader. That is the cheesiest thing I have ever read



And a new prophecy is my favorite series honestly. I think it took the best parts of the first series and made them better. That series changed the course of everything in the WCU

I’m rereading TNP and I just finished Dawn. I do feel like in that arc I can connect with the characters more. Firestar had inner conflicts, but I never felt as close to him as Leafpool or Stormfur, for example. I remember hating that arc, but now I find it alright. I think it’s because I cared more about action back when I first read them, but now I hold character interactions and inner conflicts to a much more higher degree. Plot wise, I don’t like journey books, I personally would be much happier just seeing day to day Clan life.

I can’t stand how Tigerheart is leader now. I think it would have worked much better if he had a made a heroic sacrifice to save whatever cat was almost killed, or hadn’t died at all. Tawnypelt deserves that spot anyway. Besides, StarClan bascially said “hey so you died but we’re gonna bend the rules cuz we like you. You’re leader now! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻” right?

Hey all! I'm reading Dawn of the Clans for the first time (three books in so no spoilers past that please!!), and was wondering how many of you guys have read it and what your thoughts were? Favourite characters?

Also if any of you are as avid as me in collecting the books I'd love to see your collections!! My shelves are getting pretty full now cx
