Doing this for fun but I will be looking for the future, any replies appreciated c:

Have you had dogs before? What breeds? Had a puggle, currently a hound mix, Lab, Border Collie
Are there any breeds that have already caught your eye? If so, why? Australian shepherd and Standard poodle. Intelligent and large capable dogs.
How much time a day do you have to devote to training your dog? All day, go to work with me from 4 a.m to 1 pm and then do activities at home.
What kind of grooming needs are you prepared to handle? Any really, my BC puppy doesn't need it too much YET. But I don't want something like an Afghan hound, you know?
What kind of energy level are you looking for? Medium to high
What do you plan on doing with your dog? some kind of job. Currently doing dock diving and agility. Really want to start weight pulling though.
What size dog are you wanting? medium to large
What age dog are you looking for? any age below 4 years
What kind of lifestyle do you live? extremely active. I'm in the army (train a lot) and I work on a cattle ranch and my dogs always come with me. They play with the calves and mamas' get a break to eat, it's adorable.

hello! im just dropping in because i just got a baby dachshund (3 hours ago of writing this) she is 10 weeks and im getting no sleep tonight because we wont have a kennel for tonight which mean i have to keep an eye on her so she doesnt get itno trouble tonight,
nobody in my family has experience with a dachshund but we do have more experience with bigger, more finicky dogs (pitbulls huskys etc) is there any tips as for training/caring for one? she will be crate trained! i understand that they can be stubborn and harder to housebreak so im looking for some tips into that ^^

I don't know too much, but a big thing is not to let your little weener get too overwieght, as a puppy and adult. It can really mess of their joints and cause early arthritis. Not that any dog should get fat, but it's really important for mini and toy breeds like Dachsunds. Anyway, congratulations on your new puppy!! We better be seeing plenty of photos over the next few days, we all love puppies c;

Siberian Husky has been suggested so I just thought I'd jump in with Alaskan Malamute because I love them. Intelligent to the point it's kind of annoying and has the exact attitude to training as a Husky does. My Winnie does not care for all that "good boy" nonsense, but he'll do anything for a good treat.
Loyal and independent, but will mouth-off to you a lot and selectively listen to you.
Same kind of grooming needs as a Husky. So, if it's hot you'll need to brush regularly, but other than that they blow out their undercoat by themselves twice a year(?).
Definitely a breed that needs lots of exercise. They won't do as well at agility as a husky might, but weight pulling is their forte. They're a chunk of a dog, capable of a lot, but, like a husky they do have a high-prey drive. If it smells good and it runs, they'll chase it down.

As for a realistic suggestion, though, I'd say any cattle dog capable of performing those activities.

... I just really like Mals. Had to suggest one at some point xD ahaha, ignore me.

On a side note, Winston has finally learned roll over. After a lot of pushing and grumbling, when I say "Roll over" he actually does it himself (albeit with a lot of complaining on his part).

And also, he's just learned "Please" after only 3 times of me repeating that and giving him a treat after he barks.
Please is really just my word for "Speak", but he uses it when he wants something so I thought Please was more appropriate.
It was a bit more complicated than others, because when I say please to Ruby — she lifts her paw because she knows I can't resist that level of cuteness. So Winston thought please meant paw, but he got the difference quite quick. They just had to learn to do their own thing.
It was probably a bad thing to teach him because now he says please whenever I have food xD
Soon enough I'll teach him the sign language for it, since he's a lot better at motion cues than verbal, and all his other tricks are various hand signals.

Yikes, I'm just so proud of him. My bad boy is finally getting a bit more civilised.

I've mainly just been lurking on here, but thought I'd pop in to post a quick photo & update of Lyra.

We recently took her on a camping road-trip and she did amazingly, sat in the boot of the car without fussing and even had a nap in there whilst we set up the tents. She was well behaved at the camp site and whilst out exploring.

She's also finally learnt how to swim, deep water still spooks her a bit but she's getting there! The heatwave that we've been having recently has made her love water a lot more than she used to, she's even started properly doggy-paddling for the first time.

And I've been biking with her at 5am whilst it's still cool out, she runs off leash on trails perfectly and even ignored a loose sheep and two foxes on our last run. I'm proud of her, she's gotten so much more relaxed and mature, most walks she's off leash and recalls well (especially if treats or a tennis ball are involved), ignores other dogs unless they come up to bug her then she tells them off (wouldn't happen if people didn't let their bouncy dogs run up to every dog they see), and she's just less scared and anxious in general.

Fellow dachshund owner here. Start training now, they can be stubborn at times as they are hounds. Do not free feed, measure food out and feed her three times a day since she’s a puppy. House training is going to be difficult at first, smaller dogs are harder at this. It took Loki until a year until he was 100% and we were consistent. Start kennel training also when you get one, make it fun so she finds it a safe place. Grooming, depending on what coat type you have is easy. I have a long hair. Please get her use to having her nails clipped, use a dremel also if you are uncomfortable because her nails are darker. Pick up food and water at a certain time Before bed usually helped with potty training. Taking her out every hour until you see how long she can hold it without accidents in the house. Get her use to her teeth being brushed daily. Don’t let her jump down off of high surfaces etc.

Hello (first time posting here),

I have a rescue dog (some kind of herding dog mix). I have had him for about a year and a half how. He is great doggo and loves people. His only problem is other dogs. If he sees another dog he will bark his head off and if he is on leash he will lunge at the other dog (but he is still wagging his tail). Any advice for that? He is about 5 (do not know his exact age). I have tried front pulling harnesses (the one by ruffwear) and when he sees another dog just trying to run past it so he does not start his barking frenzy.
