I believe you are right. These "ant" rats have a sort of theme to them. They're all actually wasps not ants! At least the first two are, so it would make sense for this to be a Thistledown Velvet Ant as it is also a wasp.

Yes, the litter is based off of velvet ant wasps. c: I believe it was already confirmed. That's why the artist said we should "keep the rats away from the ponies", because the ponies are based off of cows, and the first rat to grow was based off of the "cow killer" velvet ant wasp.
