Astrid glared at the wall when she woke up. She was still here, in her cell, in the officials' building. Trapped. She should never have agreed to this. She hadn't know that this would have happened, but now she knew not to trust any of the humans here. Now, if she could just find a way to escape---possibly with the other shifters. She had known someone had escaped last night. She had watched it happen, as much as she could. She hadn't called out to ask him to set her free too. She knew he would just get caught later on. No need for Astrid to suffer too. She sat up, swinging her legs over the edge of her bed. She hated it her. It was a far cry from her apartment in Berlin. The shifters here were treated poorly, much like prisoners, which they technically were.
Except they hadn't done anything even remotely wrong to get put here. She stood up, stretching, and went through her morning exercises. She had too keep herself fit, or else she would be to weak to fight. Once she was done, she went over to the door of the cell, putting her hoodie one. Her fingers brushed over the injection site, feeling the scar over it. She had once clawed at it, as if ripping her skin open would do anything to free her from the mind control the officials had over her. She pushed the cell door open and stepped out. Every time her foot crossed over the threshold, her heart froze as she felt as if she was doing something against the rules and would get caught. But the cell doors were always unlocked in the daytime. It was only at night were they locked. She walked down the hallway, keeping her gaze from looking into the other cells. She saw someone walking down the hall in her direction, and forced herself to keep an even pace. She didn't say anything at first, waiting until they were closer.
"Come to check on your prisoners? Most of them are out and about. The few in here aren't pleasant to talk to, but then I guess you'll have that in common," she called over to the woman. She knew that the officials greatly disliked when she talked to them like that, but it only made her do it more.
