days are growing shorter, and time is running out to collect precious herbs before they wither away. prey is preparing for the coming winter, and an occasional sharp chill makes it way through the camps of each kennel. there is an uneasy feeling in the air.. this winter is going to be harsh.

[arum, ghost, and phantom manage to catch x2 voles while on their hunt. charcoal catches x1 salmon, but manages to fall into the water while catching it! they're uninjured, but definitely embarassed]
[lavender, crescent, pine, and bloom run into a dalmatian asking to join your kennel]
[while on patrol, almond catches a strange scent..should he alert the others and go as a group, or go by himself to reach the destination faster?]
[rye gives birth to three healthy puppies, all seem to be in perfect shape!]

[dahlia leads a patrol along the northern borders and runs into a dog who goes by nikita]
[while patroling the eastern borders, creed notices that there is the scent of foxes nearby..the scents are strong and imply that the foxes have been here a while. the patrol must decide if they should handle this on their own or gather more dogs]
[while on patrol near the southern borders, the dogs come across a border collie asking to join their group]
[the patrol along the western border is uneventful]
[reaper seems a bit more responsive and aware, but he still needs to be watched over]
[cujo's hunting party is successful! the dogs managed to take down a sheep that had strayed into the territory. its a bit thin, but definitely a good catch]
[atlanta, havana, and miami learned how to swim!]
[vala and yarrow learned defensive moves!]
[zinnia, auberon, and aurick learned to hunt!]
[neagan learns about catmint, tansy, and coltsfoot to know how to cure different types of coughs that might occur in the coming winter season]

Granite sat at the edge of the sandy clearing. Chase was before him, pawing at rather large pebble. Granite sighed and shook his head. “Who am I kidding.” He said aloud, causing Chase to turn and look at him. “You won’t learn by using pebbles. Nike would want you to learn by experience.” Since their leader was away at the gathering, Granite was in charge of training her cadet. Chase was a fine young dog, very eager and quick to learn, and Granite has enjoyed teaching him so far. The dog was thankful to have been assigned an easy lesson. Battle. The thing Granite had plenty of experience with. The brute had fought in many battles, and he was going to be doing the same for the Underdogs. But now, it was time to pass on his knowledge. He padded up to him, so that the two males were face to face. Granite dropped into a stance, shoulders apart and head low. “Now, get into this stance.” He instructed. Chase obeyed, copying his temporary mentor to his best ability. Granite stood and inspected the young dog. He placed a paw on his back and lowered him a bit. Other than that, it was good. The mentor returned to his spot and got into the stance. “Good. Now I want you to attack me. Bunch your muscles and jump. When you jump, I want you to aim for my chest. Make sure you’re neck and belly aren’t exposed. That would be bad. When you tackle me, push me to the ground and keep your paws on my shoulders. Ready?” He informed. He hoped the information he just unpacked didn’t rush over the young one’s head. Because if it did, Chase wasn’t going to learn as much as Granite hoped today. Chase licked his lips and nodded. He bunched him muscles and pushed off the ground, soaring a bit too high. He almost missed Granite but the dog used his body to twist down, stabbing at Granite’s head. The two collided, Chase knocking him over and pinning him to the ground. Granite thumped on the ground. He tried to get up but Chase had a death grip pressing on him. Granite was impressed at his strength. “Not bad.” He admitted, getting up “Let’s try it again. And this time try not to jump so high.”

Last Moon

Moonlight streamed down over the Keep, illuminating a figure standing vigil at the entrance. Sharp blue eyes cut through the darkness, as the calls of owls echoed through the darkness. The dog, a husky, suddenly perked up from its crouched position as a dark silhouette came closer to the entrance, "Prince Alaric?" a hopeful voice whispered from the husky. The shadowy dog stepped closer, revealing it's features to be that of a husky also. "Are you seriously Queen now? I thought you were still living in the far reaches after being banished." You could feel the first husky's eye roll as she ran up to the other husky. Then she asked, ignoring the comment, "The stars sent for you to be the King? I was hoping for Prince Cedar, if he's still alive that is." The other dog took a step back, "I had forgotten how blunt you were, but yes, I was sent by the stars. It's going to take some time to get used to you, but I will be loyal to the Ivory until the end." The queen nodded her head in acknowledgment, then paused as if waiting for something to happen. The prince sighed and pressed his nose to the Queen's. "I, Prince Alaric, solemnly accept the duties of King and promise to always do the best for my kingdom and my Queen." The female leaned forward and nuzzled the male. "Welcome back, King Alaric"
