Majy called Ezeh, Hezeg and Me into his room that came off the side of The Council Hall. We came in and stood quietly at the side of the room. The Harlek lay on the table in the middle of the room. Majy had healed his nose but left it crooked, I noticed, amused.
‘You three come over here,’ Majy called from the other side of the room.
‘We searched his pockets,’ Nnay said, ‘and we found these.’ She held out a knife, a small first aids kit, and a notebook.
‘Abih,’ Majy said, ‘I want you and Zahe to take this and start translating it into english. Hezeg, I want you to take the knife. You and Saja can test it for DNA and stuff that might be useful to get information. Ezeh, you take this to Tama and see how much of his cut you can re-bandage.’
‘What cut?’ Ezeh asked.
‘The one he got when he was sword practicing with Lehe, of course.’ Nnay answered exasperatedly. We nodded and turned to leave, but as the others left. ‘And Abih,’ he whispered, ‘Can you please help Ezeh with the bandage? We don’t want him to do any more damage.’ He grinned, and I nodded then started to leave. I had just turned the door handle when Nnay said: ‘Oh, and can you send in Lehe, Yojh, and I suppose you should probably send in Elfa, too.’ I nodded and left the room just in time to see Ezeh walking up to Tama with a downcast look on his face. Tama was talking to Elfa so I ran over quickly. ‘Elfa,’ I told her, ‘go find Lehe and Yojh. Majy and Nnay want you.’ then to Ezeh I said, ‘Here give me that; I can do it.’ At that I saw a huge wave of relief spread over his face. ‘Thanks!’ he said, ‘I don’t want to do any more damage than what’s already been done, ya’ know.’
‘Stay here, I can give you some tips if you want.’
‘Ahh, no, thanks, I’m good.’
I unwrapped Tama’s arm and sucked in a sharp breath as a queasy feeling came into my stomach.
Deep breaths, I thought,
deep breaths. I gulped as vomit came up in my throat. Unable to stand it any longer I stood facing the other direction with my hands over my face. I let out a long, deep breath before turning back to Tama. He was sitting in front of me bitting his lips, pain visible in his watering eyes. ‘Sorry.’ I muttered, trying to keep my stomach down. I wrapped half of his arm then had to pause to breathe again. I know, I call myself a doctor, which I can be! but I can also get rather queasy, even at the smallest of things if I know that it happened painfully. I finished wrapping Tama’s cut then shuddered as I walked away to find Zahe.
I went to fish the Harleks notebook out of my pocket, but couldn’t find it. Oh, great, I, thought, I left it over by Tama.
