Alyssa sits in the passenger seat silently and patiently. She watched patiently as Jason made a call. As he starts to cry, she gasps and looks at him with sadness. " A-Are you okay? " She asks quietly. " D-dad? M-m-mom? " Alyssa whimpers. She rubs her eyes. " I don't remember... why don't I remember. " She whispers sadly. She shifts unevenly in her seat. I wish I could go back and live with my family again... why did this have to happen to me... Alyssa thinks to herself. " I hope I'm not too much of a burden on you.. I'm so sorry... " She says.

Theodore Ford I Human I Blade Operative I Tags; Emmy, Lance, Emery, Scott, Blair, etc.
The engine of the old Ford pickup roared down the back roads, almost as of it had a mind of its own. The map of the area, the one he was so glad he had committed to memory, lead him to believe he was within two miles of his team.
Although not usually one to run on instinct alone, something told him things were very, very wrong.
A mile.
He pulled up, tugged on the body armour and grabbed his sniper rifle as he jumped out and hauled himself into the truck bed, setting the rifle's bipod on the roof and focusing the scope in the direction of the gunshots.
He couldn't see much. Blurred bodies and more of those familiar bang-bang-bangs. D'Arc's pistol, probably.
The ex-marine switched to a thermal imaging scope and immediately felt his heart jump in his throat. He picked out the shape of Kat through the trees, underneath a massive mutt and with another getting closer and closer by the second. The team leader facing down an equally massive werewolf, with what looked like his knife in hand.
Things didn't look good. They really, really didn't look good. His eyes went from Kat to the mutt, then to the abandoned vehicle - Jin's jeep - barely more than an arm's length away. Then to the other form, smaller than the others, flying forward into the fray. He had a clear line through the trees. An easy target.
His trigger finger curled around the well-worn curve of metal and the werewolf fell, one of its hamstrings now decorated with a silver bullet. To incapacitate, not to kill. By the time it had - somehow - peeled itself up again, he'd shifted and zeroed his crosshairs on the wolf approaching Kat, pulling back on the bolt of his rifle and narrowing his eyes as he lined up the shot...

Adrian D'Arc I Human I Blade Team Leader I Tags; Adam, Emery, Lance, Emmy, Scott, Blair
They'd been in tight spots before. But never had they walked into something as blindly as they had walked into Jasper. Underequipped, with no idea of what they were facing. Only a file on the bodies found across the Jasper district, a stack of historical records and an eyewitness account or two that D'Arc was disinclined to believe in the slightest.
Rian dodged the incoming attack from the new arrival, not exactly with ease but with a sold split second to spare. He knew not to underestimate the speed of these damn things now.
The team leader slashed towards the wolf's flank with his knife as it flew past, with every intention of doing as much damage as possible, and lunged aside, determined to fight his way towards Kat. If this was how they died, then better at the side of comrade than alone. And if they were to somehow fight their way out, then two pairs of bared fists were far superior to one.
He'd barely made it halfway towards her when he noticed the position of the red wolf adjacent to his Kat's attacker.
Like he was challenging it.
The hesitation to attack it hit him like a truck.
Unaware of the target on the wolf's back, or the line of fire he'd just surged into, D'Arc slammed into the side of the wolf standing over the young woman, aware of the fact that it'd be like slamming into a brick wall and - in the most uncharacteristic move yet - not caring in the slightest.

\\welp, that's these guys, anyway. Bear with.

I AM AS DEADLY AS FIRE ITSELF

Postby hellb0und » Tue Jul 17, 2018 6:12 am

GO ON ─ bare your TEETH at me.

I'LL PULL them out
one by one

their pitiful attempts at intimidation hadn't terrorized me in the slightest. in fact, they only made me want to blast their brains out even more. danny's mentioned of nobody else getting hurt only made me cackle darkly, death spread across this forest like a wildfire, & he truly expected for no one else to come back barely alive? the joke was on him. all i was going to do was add to the body count. when the medic makes an attempt to question my motivation, i don't provide him with a reply. why i came down here was only my business. "what mark? you really think you can disappear like that and suddenly you're the beta again?" my words are like knives, cutting away at him. his authoritative tone was all i needed for the registration of who he was to return. he was no blade. "i bow to no one," i add with a ferocious growl. my head swiveled to the hunter, which decided to act as the next big bad wolf, stepping in front of the danny and planting himself next to mark. throwing more threats out like flares. "do you honestly think you scare me?" my two feet each take a step forward, closer to the hunter & his rotten smirk. now the firearm was a mere three feet away from the center of his forehead, all it took was one click, and the barrel-shaped bullet would be slicing its way through the heavy air, tearing through flesh and splintering bone before lodging itself in his almond-sized brain. he wouldn't even have the time to reach for his weapon before the light of day was ripped away from him. within the silence, i took the time to acknowledge that the upstairs had gone completely silent. as far as i could tell, we were the only four left here, & no one down here was leaving.

    DANNYWEREWOLF MEDICTAGGED; Mark, Aspat, Aurora

xxxxDanny didn't understand this female; where was she coming from? She might've smelled like pack, but she surely didn't act like it. This made the medic fume, nose twitching while he started to bear the growing canines. His eyes were having trouble staying consistent in color and truly, the medic wanted to take on his more natural form right then, but he resisted it. Instead, he breathed deeply through his nose while Aspat passed by him and Mark still stood his ground. The medic let out a silent whine, wanting desperately to be in front again so that he could speak to Aurora. It wasn't long before Danny was showing himself by waddling around Mark and Aspat, eyes trained on Aurora when he could see her again.
xxxx He watched her closely with the gun, refusing to flinch as she made two deliberate and sudden steps towards Aspat. It made his blood boil, and the tone she used felt like nails on a chalkboard to the medic. He grit his teeth and narrowed his eyes, using one hand to push up his glasses that had been falling off the bridge of his nose. Deep breaths Danny, deep breaths. "What is your issue." he questioned quietly, face twisting into something emotionless while he tried to figure out just why she was so full of hatred. There shouldn't be anyone that willing to kill. "Not bowing to anyone doesn't make you some amazing person among us. It makes you lost, hopeless and ready to jump at anything because you're so desperate to establish yourself as some bad ass." Danny was burning on the inside; everything inside of him was flaring. He was confused, angry and really, really didn't want to clean up a dead body in the basement.
xxxx"Maybe some people like your attitude but I don't and I can't stand you trying to take everything out on us, people you barely even know, just because you feel like it." he added in hastily, vaguely gesturing with his head at the pair next to him. He didn't really know Mark and Aspat either but he'd seen what they were like and he felt like they could all become good acquaintances if one of them didn't end up dead today. "So, please, put your gun down and consider either acting mature by talking with us or just leave. I can't have Aspat stressing himself out on your foolery and I'm sure Mark doesn't have time for it either." Danny moved over a couple of inches, trying to get in front and in between Mark and Aspat just as a shield once again. He wasn't looking for a fight here, but Aurora surely was looking for something.

Aspat had every intention of pressing his forehead to the muzzle of the gun. Right now, he didn't care whether she shot hum or not but then Danny stepped in front of to him again. It was like a game of leap-frog, each one of the m pushing I'm front of the others in an attempt to be the one staring down the dark barrel of Aurora's weapon.

Aspat looked st Danny, felt the anger radiating off him and saw his eyes flicker like a broken streetlight. Then he breathed deeply and a calm was restored - a calm Aspat cpuld feel ebbing away in himself aa fear, instinct amd anger bpiled up inside him. He wanted to reacj for hos gun but he knew the area was too tight and a missed shot could hit any of them. He ground his teeth, jaw tensing.

How dare she be so...unafraid, be pack yet so hateful. She took two steps towards him and he stood his ground, his heart pounding as he tilted hisvjea upwards in defiance. He'd never ne me faced with a gun and he was scared but she cpuld mever see that. Your enemy could mever know they'd won.

He took a deep breath before pouncing towards his weapons...

Emery saw Lance approach him, the loner challenging him. His gaze became confused. Lance was there? But how? When? Why?

Questions raced through his head and he began to realise what he was doing. It was as if a curtain had been lifted from his eyes and the red haze dissipated. He looked down at the female between his two front paws and and just stared for a moment before looking up at Lance.

His anger towards the humans was fading but how dare this deserter, this loner stop him from making the territory a safer place. Just as he was about to spit insults to the red wolf, a mass hit against his side and he turned to see one of the other hunters had slammed against him.

The wolf chuckled at the failed attempt to move him yet he got off of the female, limping on his wounded leg and faced at the newcomer. It was the same one he'd faced off with earlier bit this time he just stood and stared.

While Harper was busy, Tyler took to glancing around, admiring how pleasant the cafe was. He looked back at her when she began talking about Jasper.

"From what I've seen it appears rather nice. I took my bike down towards the forest earlier bit it seems the show hasn't been cleared there at all so sknce I cpuldt get through, I came into town and found this place." He explained, accepting his drink and cake gratefully.

He turned to Jane woth a curious smile. "Why don't you suggest going onto the forest? I doubt guts with deer heads on their wall are going to go hunting for pretty ladies to mount above their armchair." He joked, taking a sip of his coffee before cupping his hands around it.

Mark Holloway ~ Male ~ Thirty-Three ~ Werewolf ~ Loner/Former-Beta
Location: Skylar's Basement ~ Tags: Danny, Aspat, Aurora

If Mark hadn't been focused on the armed woman ahead of them he might have rolled his eyes at Aspat's initial words as he came to stand beside Mark. It was foolish, not only was he still injured and not thinking clearly but threatening Aurora would get them nowhere. Especially considering that she'd have shot Aspat before he could actually reach the gun. "Not the Beta, just sane." He'd shot back as she'd honed in her words on him. That's what this was in his eyes, insanity. Something was happening in the woods in the far distance and yet she was here pointing a gun at them like they were the enemy. What was she hoping to gain from this? It honestly had him at a loss for words. Soon Danny came around the two men so that he was once again in the line of fire causing Mark some small frustration but standing his grown for the moment as the younger man spoke. Admittedly said words came as a surprise and it was clear much had changed since he'd left, here was Danny standing up to Aurora. And here was Aurora acting...out of control maybe.

Mark didn't believe anything they said would actually make the woman disarm, the look in her eyes spoke to that. But at the very least if they didn't get hostile then maybe everyone would walk away from this. Well, that'd been the thought until he felt the air shift as Aspat made a move for his weapons. Mark cursed silently, wondering how the hunter could put Danny in danger by doing something so foolish! Mark moved instinctively knowing things were going to go sideways, his left hand reached out to latch onto Danny's right shoulder. It felt like everything was moving in slow motion. Mark pulled hard on Danny's shoulder as he moved his own body forwards, with little thought to whether the medic would be able to recover or not, at least he'd hopefully be out of the way. With his body moving forwards his free right hand was already making a move for the weapon in Aurora's hand. Fact was she was likely to shoot Aspat, no doubt. Maybe, just maybe she'd be so focused on that being her largest threat that Mark could catch her off guard. Mark's focus was on deviating it's inevitable discharge, preferably into something that wasn't living. Though wrenching it from her hands would work as well, and if nothing else he'd be closing in and able to grapple with her at which point he could potentially overpower Aurora.

Lance Vaugner

Werewolf | 31 | Media Assets Manager/Rogue | Emery, D'arc

The large red beast watched, muscles tightening ever more as he began to react. He clearly wasn't too thrilled with his challenger, but he also seemed to be coming out of something like a daze. This was good. If his last display were all about heightened emotions caused by the stress of the moment, then maybe Emery hadn't been targeting humans. He could be wrong, but to Lance it seemed like he was "coming back to himself", as some people said. And then a human stupidly tried to smash into him. If another were had done that, it would have been more successful. But Lance could not blame the stranger too much, considering the stress he was probably under as well. Nevertheless, he lurched forward some, teeth almost touching Emery's skull as he prepared to haul him away if he reacted with an attack. But he did not, so the red wolf quickly drew back and closed his mouth slowly. He watched for a moment, looked down at the woman on the ground and tentatively nudged her head with a cold black nose as if to say "go on now." He didn't want to rely on the calm that overcame the pack wolf to last for very long.

Then he moved away again, turning to stand a little forward of Emery, but facing toward the two humans. To put his back slightly to Emery to show that he meant no harm now that he had let her go, and also so he could watch them. To be somewhat in between and ready to jump into action. He would not let the were go after them if he could help it, but Emery had let her go. He wasn't going to let go after him either. Lance settled down, even lowering his belly to the ground. He didn't relax, but wanted to decrease his apparent size to them and Emery. Defuse the tension. He flicked his tongue once, twice, a calming signal common to wolves and dogs alike. He even turned his head away from them for a moment, which wasn't something he'd rather do.

It was unnatural for him to do this, to play quiet little mediator. To lay down like a dog. He was dominating by nature, but he had to be smart. Careful. Ugh... But even with his head still held high, he had taken a "weaker" stature. One he hoped would work, and that he wouldn't need for long.

Harper smiled, taking a quick glance around the cafe to make sure that she wasn't needed before leaning on the counter and crossing her arms onto it. She appreciated that the newcomer was already pleased with the woods, even though most either feared them or didn't care for trees in general. It was odd that the people of Jasper stayed out of it as much as possible. Something she hadn't been used to, and something that still made her ponder.

"There's werewolves in there." Jane said, matter of factly, and her jaw became tight, eyebrows pulled together as both Sam and Harper chuckled at her. "I'm serious! You cannot have heard nothing of them."

"You can't be. It's an urban legend!" Sam said with a wide smile showing teeth.

"It is not! My cousin's friend saw one!" She returned, clearly getting heated. They argued back and forth like this for some time, discussing bears being able to walk on two feet and four, that hunters travelled with their dogs often and from a distance you might see one and then the other. That fur clothing was still somehow vogue, which Jane especially attacked. And that the account of a stranger's stranger doesn't mean anything, and was the only way these "sighting" stories ever went. Harper leaned back some, arms still on the table, like she was trying not to get in the way of their speal. It seemed silly that the town had this urban legend and that many believed in it. Werewolves weren't real. Especially with the 'murders', shouldn't they be looking for the real cause of all the worry? There could be a pack of feral dogs out there, though she had never seen any. She lived out there, and had never seen a thing. But with so many that were saying it was true, there must be a grain of truth in it somehow.

"I doubt that there are werewolves out there, but recently people have been found mawled by something. And the town has had a long history of Were folklore." She said to the man with something of a shrug. It was odd, talking seriously about a mythical topic. But... well that was another quirk of Jasper: they were in to the mythical as a whole. Which sort of added to the charm, now that she thought about it.

Jason Loen I Werewolf I Medic I Tags; Alyssa
“No, it’s fine, kiddo. You are not a burden, okay? Promise.”He wiped the single tear on the shoulder of his uniform, reluctant to move his hands from the wheel as they left Jasper. The roads slowly became more decrepit, and the trees leaned in closer on every side. "Okay. Nearly there. Like, twenty minutes tops. Which is good. I'll be honest. These woods always give me the creeps. Your buddy Jay is just about the biggest wimp going. So you're in charge of watching out for baddies, okay? Sound good?" Secretly, he was only half joking, but hopefully the cheerful tone was enough to make the kid laugh. The boogey monster wasn't a danger if you could learn to laugh at him, right? Well. She looked nervous enough to shatter, and frankly he couldn't blame her.

Bitten or not, he still hated the woods with a passion; unlike most of the pack, Jason had been born and raised in Jasper. With that, just like Kansas folk had an undying respect – for want of the right word – for corn fields, Jasper folks knew not to screw with the northern woods. Ever. Even before the attacks started. His mother, a senior nurse at the very hospital he now worked at, and altogether a very rational woman, refused to go anywhere near the trees at all. She said she didn’t believe in the stories of werewolves, but that didn’t stop her double-locking every entrance to his childhood home every single night. And if his mom wanted to leave town, she would drive an hour further to bypass those particular northern roads.

The road ran onto into dirt track. Ten minutes later, the dirt track gave out and the old Defender went jolting over the perilous forest floor towards the house.

Since he’d been brutalised by a rogue and subsequently “rescued” by the pack, he knew that the old myths of werewolves were true, and from what he knew of his pack – from the little he knew, had been able to piece together from the couple of wolves he was close to – that was, in many ways, worse. Something rotten was at the core of his pack, and had been growing there for months. Maybe longer. He wouldn’t know. He did know that, with sudden certainty, her parents would not be found. Loners that had maybe known a hunter was on their tail, or maybe a human parent who had taken their half-breed child to the nearest pack instead of trying – and inevitably failing – to raise a half-blood on their own. And he also knew that the moment he took the kid into the pack’s main base, she’d get claimed for Crimson Sky. They needed more fighters, and there was no better fighters than ones you raise under your own doctrine from a young age. Skylar was an excellent proof of that.

Every bone in his body was abject to bringing the young pup into the lion's den. But what choice did he have?
In that moment, he decided that if they wanted anything to do with this kid, they went through him first. He’d get the paperwork, somehow, and he’d lay down the law. “We’ll have to get you some clean clothes, for starters. Then something to eat? You hungry?” More to distract himself than anything, he ran a mental inventory of the beta’s kitchen. He could probably scrounge up some mac and cheese or something.“How about some macaroni?”

Her head turned to the window, she looks out at the thousands of trees that they pass. As Jason makes a joke, she looks over at him, grinning slightly. She was hoping things would turn out okay. Alyssa felt uncomfortable... she was in a car with a stranger. What could be more dangerous? " B-but I like my clothes... can I k-keep them? " She questions. Yes, she still was very nervous, but she had to answer back. It wasn't polite to ignore someone who is asking you something or telling you something. She knew simple manners, though you can't tell by looking at her. Alyssa looks over at Jason then to the ground. There was one question that kept popping up in her head. Where was he taking her? Was it safe there? Are we going to track down my parents when we get there? She didn't know the answers to any of those questions... she wish she did though. There was little hope in her that they would find her parents, she didn't believe they could. " I am r-really hungry... I haven't eaten in s-so long. " Alyssa exclaims. " Macaroni s-sounds great! " She stutters. Her stuttering was proof she was nervous. Stuttering always happened when she was so nervous. She hoped they would get there soon.

He sighed. How could anybody just dump their child and not even care how they would survive? Abandoning a child was bad enough, but leaving them to starve?
"I know, I know. And yeah, of course you can. It's just that we need to clean them first."
Finally - finally - the four-by-four jolted through a gap in the trees and into the clearing where the beta's house sat, to his eyes resembling a pompous guard dog crouched over its hoard of old bones.
"Well, here we are. Headquarters of the mighty Crimson Sky wolves of Jasper. Ecetera, ecetera."
Catching the look on her face, he hastily added, "and don't look so worried, kiddo. There's no hunters to worry about here, okay? It's perfectly safe. Just don't try to pet the big grey dog - the white one is okay, though - and... well, I'll explain the rest of the rules once we get inside."
He scanned from side to side for the infamously vicious wolfhound, more out of habit that anything, before he remembered where Stål was likely to be and sighed again. Still. And, now he thought of it, where had the friendlier dog, Bein, vanished to? When he thought he hadn't seen her for days, he wasn't exaggerating. He muttered a vow to hunt the mutt down later and, satisfied the coast was clear, he climbed out and went around to the passenger side, to shut the door if Alyssa had climbed down herself and heft her down first if she hadn't, then cheerfully held out a hand for her to take. Partly to give her some stabilty over the rough ground, but mostly to show any pack wolves who might be watching that the kid was under his protection.
On second glance, a creeping feeling told him, it wasn't necessary. The house looked... empty. Emptier even than it normally did. Something was wrong, and he didn't know what. Jay didn't like not knowing.
Feigning nonchalance - and very successfully, as far as his acting skills went - he started to cross towards the door.
"So clean clothes or food first?"
