Last Moon

Victoria perched at the top of barren hillside, autumn wind whipping through her liver fur and threatening to topple her over at any moment. The air seemed to thrive with unseen energy and mixing with the sweet scent of fresh rain, while menacing grey and black clouds vied for a position in the sky. Earlier today the sky had been a clear, crystal blue with just a few whisps of clouds mingling upon the azure backdrop. That just goes to show how quickly things can change; just like how the kingdom had changed at a moments notice.
She was now the queen of the empire, while a few seasons ago she was just a distant heir to the crown, not even significant enough to notice. She didn't even fully know what had happened.
The husky stood there contemplating what could've been for a moment before sighing in acceptance. She would just have to take it as it came and hope for a better future for the Ivory than the one that had befallen it before.

This Moon

Melody flashed through the forest, low hanging branches whipping by her black and white muzzle. Suddenly, a glimpse of something decidedly furry caught her eye. Her forelegs skidded to a stop as her back legs crashed into the rest of her body, effectively stopping her. "Finn! Over here! I think I saw something!" They had been running for a while now, after her and Finn's old kennel had came crashing down around them. She didn't even know if the others had survived, Saskia, Minnow, Reena, even the pups, all gone. All she had now was Finn, who was currently braking, just as she did, to see what all the fuss was about. "What is it?" Melody didn't answer, staring down at the hollow below the tree line. A few mossy stones, probably from an ancient structure, lay on the ground, but that was not what had caught her eye. Finn peered over her shoulder, electing instead to see for himself. He let out a short bark of laughter, "You owe me a rabbit! See, I knew there would be dogs here, but you didn't believe me!" Melody rolled her eyes at her friend's antics. "Okay, okay, you won, I lost. Now lets go see if the o-so-elusive dogs have need of any dogs like us." With that, the two dogs took off head first down the hill.

A danger loomed. Cloaked by the blanket of darkness that was night, the beast stalked through rugged mountain terrain, snow crunching beneath it’s ebony paws. The mountains of this territory were most unforgiving, forcing early snows that lasted well into spring. Wind whipped at short, dense fur, howling like a rabid wolf.

indentThe danger, what was it? None other than Erebus, the mad bully kutta that had murdered Diablo, the leader of a fearsome kennel called the Vehementi Empire, and so many others. Those who knew him knew him as a respectable man, though those who heard him only by those who narrowly escaped his jaws of death would call him nothing short of a monster.
indentAnd perhaps it was true. Perhaps not. It all depended on the morals of the dog who stared him down and called him what he truly was.

indentThe hazy outline of a medium sized dog appeared through the darkness, racing through the snow. As the figure got closer, Erebus could identify it as one of his most loyal, Diomedes. The lumbering giant of a dog looked alarmed, though also furious. “It’s that servant, Mira! She had given birth, and some say it is to the children of Diablo.”
indent“What?” Erebus snarled, his voice barely carrying to Diomedes through the wind. “Bring me to her.”
indentThe two dogs ran through the snow, muscles flexing underneath smooth pelts and hard stares focused on only the darkness infront of them. They reached the palace soon enough, where two dogs stood guard. They exchanged stares of surprise as Erebus barreled past them, shoving them to the side as the doors to the castle opened.
indent“Where is the traitor?” Erebus asked, his voice echoing across the walls.

indent“I am here!” A high voice cried out before a tiny cavalier stepped out from behind the staircase.
indent“➊ Quid est veritas?” He asked, striding towards her with his lips peeled back. “Did you have pups, are they Diablo’s?”
indentMira looked up at him with a fearless expression. “Why, are you afraid?” She taunted, anger rising within her. “Because yes, they are his pups. And you w—”
indentHer words were cut short as the mighty jaws of her imperator clamped over her neck, deadly fangs sinking into tender muscle. His expression was nothing less than mad, his whole body shaking out of pure rage. The Bully Kutta thrashed her around through rigid jaws, snarling angrily as he did so. With a final shake he tossed her to the ground, discarding her like she was nothing. He stormed away, shoving past Diomedes and away from Mira.

As the trio went hunting, they chatted quietly. They didn't stay on any topic for very long and played in the crisp leaves. When they broke through the trees, Bear looked up to stare at the moon. The silver glow of the cresent moon glittered gently among the twinkling stars. With a long exhale, Bear continued on with his friends. They arrived at a farm that had some new owners, who seem forgetful, as they didn't lock the chicken coop. Leilani sneaked into it after Toby yanked it open.

Leilani growled and a series of loud squawks threatened the secrecy of the dogs. Bear herded a chicken away from the coop with Toby on his tail. Toby snapped at it just as Leilani streaked by with a limp form in her muzzle. With a jerk of her tail, Bear and Toby quickly followed her.

The trio wandered along the border shortly after the hunt. They kept knocking each other over when a young male joined them. Bear regarded him with caution before joining his pack mates and the pup.

"Jax! You can't go running off. We don't know who lives around he-" A female heeler, with a male retriever beside her, bounded over and frantically licked Jax before looking at Bear. "We're sorry! We didn't know others lived here already."

"Rory, I'm tired. We have been traveling forever."

Leilani stepped forward with a calm look. Bear could guess she was thinking whether the newcomers should join and didn't say anything. With a satisfied nod, she launched at Rory. Almost instantly, Rory moved and the retriever knocked Leilani aside with a growl. As Leilani stood, none of the newcomers nor her packmates made a move. Nodding at Bear, she left and headed back to camp.

"So, do you want to join us? My Beta believes that you would be worthy. And, its almost winter. No dog wants to be alone in winter."

"Why should we? Your Beta attacked us. I would give my life for Rory and Jax here."

"Like I said, its almost winter. Prey is already hard enough to get, it only gets worse in winter. We can't take in dogs that are too weak right now."

The retriever looked at his companions before nodding. Jax jumped up and ran at Toby with a playful growl. Toby growled back before taking off after his sister. Rory hurried after Jax, leaving Bear and the retriever behind.

"I'm Caelen, you know Rory and Jax already. Our old kennel broke up and joined other kennels. Some of us stayed together."

"Nice to met all of you. I'm Bear, alpha of the Night Wanderers. My Beta, who attacked you, she's Leilani, and the brute that Jax chased is Tobias or Toby. He's an Irontooth, which I'm guessing you and Rory are too? And little Jax is a Tenderpaw?"

"Pretty much. Rory is like my little sister and Jax is our baby brother. I don't know what any of us would do without the others."

Bear smiled softly. He remembered his littermates, most of them died but he had a sister who survived. He doesnt think about her much, and if he didn't have a pack, he might have looked for her. He might ask his Ancesters for help soon, but first, his pack needed to be safe and fed.

Current Moon:
As the new dogs became official members and Leilani got her first tenderpaw, Bear howled in his rough and deep voice. The clearing picked up in noise as each dog raised his or her head in song. The song was wordless but the emotions were clear as the Ancestors were thanked. To celebrate, the entire pack went on a hunt before doing a patrol, during the hunt Leilani spent the time showing Jax how to hunt. Bear leaves the patrol as the moon begins to set. Winter is coming and his kennel needs someone who knows herbs in case of sickness, asking for help finding his sister would have to wait til spring. A sad sigh escaped his mouth as he arrived at the pool, he just hoped his sister would be okay.

rowdy frowned as he watched reaper as adonis stood by his side, "you don't have to be here you know," the grum
py bull terrier informed the boxer. adonis just rolled his eyes at the stubborn dog, "i used to be a shaman, i can h
elp you out." he started, but the bull terrier turned his head away and refused to listen. rowdy dragged himself t
owards the herbs that were sprawled out on the floor in front of reaper. he took a closer look at the sleeping staf
fy, despite what they had expected no signs of trauma were showing, yet. "he'll probably have to stay here for an
other month, but you don't. go away, go train with your novice. what was his name?" reaper grumbled at the poor
boxer, "auberon..." he replied, "oh yeah, him, aster's kid. yeah, go train him, i'll be fine here. not like i can go an
ywhere else anyway." reaper made and attempt to pull himself up onto a small ledge in the new den. after the e
arthquake he had become more snappy, irritable and always in a bad mood. adonis just sighed and nodded his he
ad, he turned to leave the den and it pained him to see a good friend slowly deteriorate into a grumpy and stubb
orn mess.

vala jumped as miami ambushed her from the side, all the novices had been taken out in groups for some huntin
g training. the doberman cross rolled her eyes at the boy before turning to pay attention to cujo who was trying
to explain the importance of teamwork during a large hunt. vala wasn't really sure if hunting was her thing, ever
ytime she tried to catch something she would make a mistake and make a fool of herself. she would rather be p
rotecting the kennel or be sent on scounting missions than have to hunt food for the entire kennel. she zoned ba
ck in as jæger started scolding miami on the way he was stalking the practice bag. she sighed and attempted to
mimic the positions cujo and jæger were showing, trying to show the other three mentorships that she wasn't as
clumsy as they all thought she was. bastian perked up as he notice the novice showing the slightest bit of dedica
tion to the lesson, wearing a smile on his face as cujo complimented her and eris started to take notice in his lit
tle novice as well.

Spilled Ink is located in an abandoned trainyard that
spans for miles, and their most common markers are
the train tracks. The tracks lead to several places and
open fields. Here are a few of the places and what th-
-ey use them for:

The Alcove
The Alcove is a prey-rich area marked by tracks and
abandoned railway cars, where the canines have fi-
-gured out that most of the prey hide within or aro-
-und the abandoned cars, so they normally play wa-
-iting games as their form of hunting, or simply ma-
-ke chase weaving skillfully between the cars.

The Den
The den is where the Pack sleeps, with the Alpha b-
-eing the one in the center, surrounded by their pa-
-ckmates. The lower ranked dogs are found at the
edge of the large den area, their hindquarters get-
-ting nipped at by the winds and rain and all sorts
of weather. The Den also serves as a meeting place
for the Alpha to communicate with their ancestors
and ask for guidance and new paws to fill their ra-
-nks.

The Waterplace
The Waterplace is where standing water gathers a-
-nd is the primary source of water for the Spilled I-
-nk Pack. It's actually a rather peaceful place to go
to think and is more of the neutral places in the P-
-ack's territory, as the Pack has a basic understand-
-ing that water sources can be scarce, but they ar-
-e ready to fight for their water when times are to-
-ugher and a drought occurs.

Ｒｅｐｕｔａｔｉｏｎ

The reputation of the Pack is actually rather docile
and neutral as they choose to keep to themselves.
Spilled Ink is mostly home to the lean, fit, able-bo-
-died nomads that choose to run and race to survi-
-ve rather than relying on bulk and body mass to s-
-tick to their own. This Pack truly sticks together
and treats those of its own as family, though they
can be bitter and cold towards outsiders, it's all a-
-bout first impressions with Spilled Ink. Rumors a-
-bout this pack vary from traveler to traveler, one
would say they're rabid, blood-thirsty and hostile
creatures with more similarities to wolves than d-
-omestic dogs, while another would utter that th-
-ey're kind and welcoming, even if they only stay-
-ed for a few rests at a time.
This pack has no set beliefs either, giving more
skepticism room to grow and fester.
