About the Species
Drafenes are omnivorous mammals, their appearance remind of a combination of Fennec Foxes and dragons.
Drafenes have characteristics like a ribbon tied around the base of their tail which has the color that's associated with their magic power is used to channel the magic powers, but very talanted individuals are able to use their powers without them. Their magic powers are dependent on the environment they're born in.
Adult Drafenes can be 45 - 60cm tall, children only 20 - 30cm.
Since Drafenes are very friendly, peaceful and rather small they are often held as pets or companions.
Lore
Drafenes are horned mammals with close connections to sky. They’re often described as “fluffy dragons”, unsurprising due to their cloudy resemblance. Though overtime, their more dragon-esque appearance has evolved to closely resemble the Fennec Fox. This is due to the rapidly changing environment which has caused a decrease in resources that could accommodate the once large mammals. They reside in small communities, distant from other populations… as well as one another, reflecting on their differing abilities.
At birth, ceremonies are held to honor the newborns who are granted with a ribbon which is tied to the base of their tail. This is seen as a symbol of the magic the child holds, as well the bond they hold towards their kin. Though drafenes prefer to remain close to their communities, they seem to hold no ill will to one another. The powers each Drafene holds is accessed through their horns, and are used to serve purpose within their communities.
