Alyssa smiles at Kai as he slithers up her arm and on her shoulders. She isn't scared of him being so close to her face. As Kai slithers around, she picks him up and sets him in his small cage. " Daddy can we get a dog AND bird? Like a parrot or something? " She asks, grinning mischievously at Toby. Alyssa already expects the answer to be no, but she asked anyways. She always dreamed of having almost all animals. Animals make her feel so happy and calm. She grabs the cage Kai is in and stares at him through the plastic." Isn't he great? " She asks, smiling.

Toby chuckled warmly as he watched Alyssa with her new pet snake. It both impressed him how brave she was and also worried him that she might try something dangerous. He was a very easy going dad; he certainly wasn't going to take away Kai unless he thought that the little milk snake might hurt her or cause any problems. As the timer for the cake beeped, Toby got it out of the oven and set it on the counter to cool. " A dog and a bird?" Toby said, " I dunno kiddo, we'll have to see. Pets are a lot of responsibility, but I think we can handle it" He said giving her a playful wink. The dark-haired healer smiled and went over to look at the little snake with Alyssa," He is pretty great, pumpkin." After admiring the snake for a little while, he checked his watch " I think the cake might be cooled down enough, wanna help decorate it?" He asked with a cheerful grin

" You're welcome!" Gilly chuckled, the mischievous glint still in his cheerful eyes," And you're right. I like to take my time so that I look my best when I go out." He smoothed out his brightly colored Hawaiian shirt for emphasis. It was obvious that Gilly's personality was as cheerful- and flamboyant- as his clothing style. " Really?" He laughed warmly, " I didn't know I looked like the kind of guy to own a smart car or van. I'm flattered!" He said with a playful win, " I do own a van, it's for work though." Gilly shut the door for her after she buckled up, then hopped into the driver's seat and buckled up himself. " Okie dokey, here we go. The waterfall isn't too far away, but we'll have to hike just a bit" He said cheerfully, adding " If you're hungry, there's granola bars and water bottles in my bag over there. And shotgun has control of the radio. I must warn you though, I have an unhealthy collection of 311 and Bob Marley cds in the glove box if you're into that kind of music." Gilly pulled out of the hotel parking lot and headed towards to the spot he had told Jessie about before.

" Of course I want to decorate it! " Alyssa squeals." Can it be pink frosting and a LOT of sprinkles? " She grins and looks up at Toby. " Also also could we write Kai instead of Blade of Grass on the top? " She walks up to the cake and smells it. " Mmm... " Alyssa smiles. " I could eat it right now! It looks so good daddy! Thank you so so so much. " She thanks him and gives him a giant hug. " If we get a bird we should get a parrot who we can teach to talk. We should also teach our dog tricks. I think I know what breed I want if they have it... a English Shepherd Dog! " She grins. " After we eat we should go to the shelter to look! " Alyssa insists.

" Sure it can have pink frosting, kiddo," He chuckled warmly, getting the brightly colored frosting for her," And no birthday cake should be without a lot rainbow sprinkles!" Toby declared. He beamed down at Alyssa, lightly booping her nose affectionately, " Of course it can be Kai's birthday cake, pumpkin. I think he'll like that" He bent down and wrapped her in a cozy hug. Toby chuckled, "You're welcome, kiddo. But, you're going to have to wait until the cake is decorated before you eat it!" Gently, he ruffled her dark hair before straightening back up. As Alyssa spoke, he listened with an amused smile tugging at his lips," Maybe we can do that, kiddo, but we have to get our new pets first!" He chuckled," And sure we can go over to the shelter right after lunch"

She grins. " This is going to be so fun! " Alyssa squeals. She giggles and looks up to Toby. " Can we also get a ferret!? " She exclaims. She loves all kind of animals. How would she choose what kind of pet to get? " Lets use blue, pink, purple, and white colored sprinkles! I love those color. " Alyssa places Kai back into his small container and puts it onto the countertop. " Oh oh oh and can we have pink AND blue frosting instead of just pink? " She giggles and jumps around, excited about the cake.

" A ferret?" Toby chuckled warmly, " I dunno about that, kiddo. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a look at them." The dark-haired healer had a huge soft spot for animals of all kinds; truthfully, he loved the idea of taking in one- or possibly a few- animals. Toby chuckled, smiling at Alyssa, " That sounds like a great idea! I like those colors too." Humming cheerily, he went over to the cabinet and grabbed out the pink, blue and white sprinkles as well as the different colored frostings. Carefully, he wrote out " Happy Birthday Kai" on it in pink and blue frosting on the cake, then helped Alyssa decorate it with frosting and sprinkles.
