There had once been some otters who lived in a zoo and one day, they escaped. No one knew what had happened to them until they saw the groups that the otters had formed, called rafts. Over time, some rafts died away while others grew larger and stronger. Can you make your own raft and keep it alive?

Starting Off
If it’s your first time posting, you must tell me about your raft. You can describe things such as your raft’s name, nature, reputation, and personality. Also include details about where they live. Visualizing things makes things easier, so if you want to do a map I suggest using Inkarnate. It's a free mapmaker! These will help us decide what your first otter, the leader, will look like! We will quote your post with a picture of the otter that will be the foundation of your raft. You can decide on your leader’s name, age, and gender.
Getting More Otters
Your raft will start off small and you’ll have to build up its population. You have two options for finding otters: patrols and sending your leader to the Sky River. You are only able to send your leader to the Sky River once a week (so if you sent them out on Monday, you’d have to wait until next Monday to do so again) and ask for a specific-ranked otter or we will give you one at random. You will be able to pick their name, gender, and age as well.
Patrols
You are able to send up to six otters out on a patrol at one time, with a maximum of four patrols (used at your wishes, it is recommended you do 2 border patrols and 2 hunting patrols). The following things can happen in a border patrol: -you can find a predator, or - you can find a new Raftmate. The following things can happen in a hunting patrol: -you can find a predator, or -you can find prey.
New Ranks
Whenever you have an otter old enough to move to the next rank (6 moons means pup to apprentice, 12-16 moons means apprentice to warrior), you can send your leader to the Sky River to tell the ancestors of your decision to do a ceremony. You must also do this when promoting an otter to a deputy or retiring them to an elder.
Healing & Herbs
When you find your healer, you will be able to choose five herbs to start your medical storage. When you send your healer(s) out to find herbs, you will find two herbs for the first adult healer and an extra herb for each apprentice healer. Herbs can be used to heal sick or injured otters.
Mentors & Training
You will be the one to assign a certain mentor to a certain apprentice and during each training session, your apprentice will learn a new “move” or skill. Before your apprentice can become a warrior, they must have completed at least four training sessions and be at least 12 months old. You can also send your healer apprentice to train with the warrior apprentices, but it isn’t a requirement.
Aging & Death
You must age your otters up one month every post you make. If in one post you had an apprentice who was 8 moons, they would be 9 moons in the next post you make. In this game, there are six ways for your otters to die: being stillborn, old age, being injured by a predator or another otter, mothers dying during childbirth, starving and not having injuries treated within two posts of them getting injured and/or sick.
Alliances
If you meet a neighboring raft while on patrol, you can choose to become their ally or enemy. Ally rafts usually act friendly towards each other and resolve disputes without fighting. You can give herbs and prey to an ally raft, and if your raft is under attack by an enemy, your ally can defend you as long as your enemy isn’t their ally. An ally raft defending you lessens the chance of your otters dying or being captured in battle. Enemy rafts, on the other hand, usually act hostile towards each other and often argue and fight. You can choose to raid an enemy’s camp (with their permission only) and steal pups, apprentices, elders, and herbs. You need at least four otters in the battle patrol and there will often be otters injured, captured, or even killed during attacks. However, you can make peace and become allies at Gatherings.
Currency
The Create a Raft is standardly called Coins, however as long as you contact Cattuccino, you can be creative and call it whatever you want to! Currency can only be obtained by going to the Coin-River.
The Sky-River and Coin-River
Once every two posts, your leader can go to the Sky River to request an otter! The Coin-River is a very similar concept.
Once every three posts (not two), you can send warriors to get coins. Every 3 cats you bring give you one coin, and you can bring a maximum of 9 cats.
Gatherings
Next Gathering: TBD
Gatherings occur once every two weeks, usually starting on a Friday and ending on a Sunday. If the weekend is a long weekend, it'll end on Mondy. At a Gathering, you can take your leader, deputy, and healers, along with six others (warriors or apprentices) where you can share news with the other rafts. Here, friendships and romances can blossom, battles can be arranged, otters swapped, and alliances and rivalries are formed.
Next healer Gathering: TBD
Healer Gatherings occur the week after a Gathering and last only for three days (from Friday to Sunday on a regular weekend, Friday to Monday on a long weekend). Here, healers can share news and trade herbs.
Becoming Mates & Having Pups
Without pups, your raft would struggle to survive. To have two otters become mates, post them going for a walk together and have one ask the other to be their mate. In my reply, I will time-skip to the female finding out she’s expecting pups after which you will have to wait two months (two posts) for them to be born. If you don’t want the pair to have pups yet or instead to have another litter, make sure to tell me in your post.
Forbidden Romances
Forbidden romances are romantic relationships either with a healer or an otter from another raft. Otters can form romances with otters from both ally and enemy rafts, and can sneak out of camp to meet with them or bond at Gatherings. However, if the relationship results in pups, they will have to find an otter willing to cover up as the father. It can also be arranged for one or more of the pups to be given to the parents of the other raft. Lastly, if the raft finds out that the pups are forbidden, the parent(s) and/or pups may be exiled.
Prey
Every post starting from your fourth, your raft will use up two servings of food and the number will increase as you gain more otters. For every two otters on a hunting patrol, you can get one piece of prey (giving you a max of three pieces) and you can only use six types of prey which is known as a “set.” An example of a set would be (x) but you can switch out the different types of prey depending on what is normally found in your raft’s territory and that otters are capable of eating. When you make your first post, make sure to include your set so that your mod will know what prey to give to your raft! In addition, if you fail to provide the correct amount of servings for two posts, your raft will begin to starve in the third post. For every post without food, one otter will die from starvation.

Seasons
Each season will last two weeks and when your mod replies to your post, they will write what season it is and what type of weather your raft has, which will affect the events that happen that day.
Spring: During the spring, birthings will run much smoother and the chances that mothers and pups will die during birth will drop dramatically, and you will likely catch more prey and find new otters. The chances of catching sickness will also go down but due to all the snowmelt, your territory may flood.
Summer: During the summer, you are more likely to run into humans and their dogs, and rogue groups will likely try to settle on your territory. You are also more likely to have droughts and find fewer otters.
Fall: During the fall, the weather will get colder and you will catch less prey. Birthings will begin getting harder so make sure to stock up on herbs such as fennel, chervil, ragwort leaves, and raspberry leaves. You are also more likely to run into predators.
Winter: During the winter, your otters are likely to catch sickness and more likely to die during birthing. You will also catch less prey and find fewer new otters.
Stat Mode
Every otter has its own stats. The pup's stats are randomized, and there are different levels. Every level has 6 stars. Depending on his primary stats (or standard stats), an otter will gain more stats as a warrior. A black star represents, out of five, your otter's stats. This is good. A white star represents a lack of the five stars, meaning it isn't perfect. Here are the stats your warrior will have:
Raft Stats
Hunting ✦✦✧✧✧ Sometimes Adds a prey bonus when they hunt.
Fighting ✦✦✦✦✦ Sometimes adds a bonus when they fight.
