hey guys, what kind of deck should I make? I was originally gonna try super hard to gather enough cards to eventually make
a cat deck, but now I'm thinking eastern dragons.
I haven't really looked out any eastern dragon cards yet, but surely there's at least some?
or maybe a deck with blue cards only? not as in fusion monsters, but cards with blue art. nice and aesthetic.
maybe a mix between dragons + cats?
what are your guys' thoughts?

im not super experienced with making decks, but i would probably stick to a certain type (spellcasters, dragons, zombies, etc) or something that flows with card effects?? if that makes sense?? i’m not sure if this is a good example, maybe because it’s a duel links deck and not an actual deck, but here’s mine!!

monsters
x2 vampire lord
x3 gozuki
x3 red eyes wyvern
x2 red eyes zombie dragon
x3 fear from the dark
spells
x1 tribute to the doomed
x3 enemy controller
traps
x1 blast held by a tribute
x3 inspiration

they are all zombie type monsters except for the red eyes wyverns, (they are dragon-type) but their effect makes it easier to summon a red eyes zombie dragon!! i’d just look around at example decks so you can get a good idea of how they flow, and then you can try to make something new from what you know!! i hope this was somewhat helpful?

I literally watched the first three seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh GX (sub) in under a month and I'm rewatching season 4 currently, so that's pretty cool

I also have duel links now, I'll get my code later

Oh wow! Me too! I'm halfway through season 4. The dub is actually pretty good? It's funny?? :0 ! I've seen some episodes in the dub but although its funny it ruins the serious nature the sub had

Build off an archetype, it makes things super easy. Building off aesthetics is near impossible. tbh I'd focus more on finding a style of play you like then trying to find something aesthetically that fits into it. I love me some Traptrix, I hate the way they play.

There are monsters that fit into what you want but I'm not sure how much you'll like playing them. What's more your style? High attack beatstick monsters, shutting down your opponent's side of the field, negating your opponent's plays, none of the above?

Yang Zings are eastern dragons. Synchro heavy and focus on summoning each other when they're destroyed. They've been hit a little hard by ban lists though so I'm not super sure how viable they are on their own.

Lunalights are pretty feline. They were my first deck and I still love them. They're an aggressive fusion focused deck with a side of pendulums. They revolve mostly around fusion summoning up the chain as fast as possible to get your big gun fusion monsters out quick and recovering fusion material. Fluffals are pretty similar and a little more consistent but I've liked Lunalights over them for a while. If you're interested I can dig up my deck list for Lunalights.

Feel free to hit me up if you ever need to practice a deck on DuelingBook. It's sim where you can build any deck you want and test before you buy against other players. Some players can get a little nasty but I'll be happy to sit down and run through any deck you choose.

I personally don't like the dub very much c': I did like some of the jokes that weren't carried on from
the japanese version, of course. like when Saio points out that Kaiba hasn't aged for literally 10 years (in the dub)
(I highly prefer not to say dub names haha)

the blue aesthetic thing was a really unlikely thing I was just throwing out there, haha

Yang Zings look pretty cool :o I'm pretty sure there's also some sort of way to use Rescue Cat to
do a lot of synchro-summoning, but the ban lists kinda ruin it all so that would be kinda tricky..

I might try Lunalights, but I have no idea how pendulum summons work. the fusion thing seems like
something I could easily annoy my sisters (the only ones I duel tbh) with. I'll definitely look into it!

Pendulum summoning is easy, and thankfully Lunalights don't use it too much, at least the way I play it. I'll do my best to explain using Lunalights.

Pendulum monsters you can either summon as normal to your monster zone or place them in the pendulum zones (at either end of your spell/trap zone.) If it's in the pendulum zone, it is treated as a spell/trap card. It can't attack or be attacked and cards that destroy spell/trap cards can target it.

Let's look at Lunalight Wolf. In the box on top that says "Pendulum effect" that applies if you place it in the pendulum zone. The monster effect in the main box applies if it's in the monster zone.

In order to pendulum summon you need a pendulum monster in both pendulum zones. Let's say you have Lunalight Wolf and Lunalight Tiger in your pendulum zones. See the numbers in the smaller box? Lunalight Wolf is 1, Lunalight Tiger is 5. That's your pendulum scale. That means once per turn you may summon as many level 2, 3, or 4 monsters as you like and that can fit on the field.

but at the same time, it seems a bit too easy? all the unique special summon things are so weird to me asdfghjkl

i'm rly interested in gx but i haven't gotten very far :0
i haven't seen any of the sub, but the dub is funny!!
i'm sure they're both enjoyable in their own way though!! ive watched both the sub and dub for duel monsters, and there are certain things i like about both. i gotta admit the voice casting for gx isn't,,, great,,, but imo that just adds onto the charm of it haha
