You are in a small town in Minnesota..
The summers are hot and when winter comes around, it can get pretty cold. All of the seasons show their true colors here but when winter sets in, thats when the wolves return to the woods. Every winter they can be seen in the surrounding woods, the wolves all gang up and do their best to survive with a town full of people trying to keep them out. A few are shot by hunters when they wander too near the households. These wolves rarely attack the townfolk unless they are provoked.
But these wolves are strange, instead of their regular gold-eyed wolves you see in Canada or on televison, they have human eye colors of all sorts. Some have blue, others green or brown. And they seem to be more tolerable to humans than wolves should, like they know when to run or stay.
Why you may ask?
They are humans in a wolf's skin.
Real and unqiue personalities gone haywire in a wolf body.
These are the werewolves.
When the cold months roll in, they shift into their wolf bodies and completely lose themselves into natural instincts, but all wolves are different. Some shift when a simple cool breeze passes them by, others shift when snow first appears to fall from the sky. Temperature is the werewolves weakness. Spring is when they return to their regular human bodies.
What's the danger here for the werewolves?
To become a werewolf, you have to be bitten by one. Simple as that but here is the catch:
Once you become a werewolf, you only have a certain amount of summers to spend as a human. The first year or two for a regular werewolf is complete unpredicable. You can shift from human to wolf no matter the temperature until your new wolf body becomes aware of the cold seasons and the warm. Once your body grows used to the seasons, it becomes tougher to stay human over the years. Everytime you shift into a wolf there is a chance you won't be coming back into your human body in the spring. However many years you have as a human is undetermined. It's different for every werewolf. Some have ten years to shift back and forth, other have twenty to fifteen. But when you become a wolf for good, there is no way back to your human body unless you somehow get warm enough to become human and yet stay out of the slightest cold breeze and go back to wolf mode. It is a very painful transformation and some call it a curse, other werewolves say that this is a new way to start over.
With that said, while in your wolf body:
You are completely wild. You don't remember your human life nor do you ahve the slightest idea of a memory. Some things may become familar to you when you linger near your hometown but you don't know why. While with your packmates, you can send images to eachother without words. Hunting becomes easier with a picture coming from a far off comrade in the distance. Again, a werewolf can only keep their eye color when they shift but it becomes a risk when someone you know or love may reconize you from town.
---------------------------------------------------
Luckily for the werewolves, there is a cabin in the woods for only them to use. Food, clothing, and shelter just for them. The cabin has been around for years and many werewolves have used it until their time has come to remain a wolf for the rest of their life. A pack can stay together here for years on end until they all depart one by one. Now what your job is to keep the werewolf race from being exposed. The hunters are drawing near and the risk of another human being bitten is very high.
---------------------------------------------------
Will the wolves be wiped out by next winter or will the struggle continue?
