He stood and entered the kennels, planning on readying them for their new inhabitants.

Soon, yes soon, we shall release the beasts.

The receptionist rang his bell lazily before calling out.
'We have a new resident up for adoption, and... yep. He's big so if you don't like drool, maybe don't go for this one, he's... He's a drooler.'

The receptionist shuddered as he walked back into the main room.
'Bug dog. Take it please.'
He didn't know bugs were so... ew...

The receptionist slammed down the phone, which subsequently went up in flames and disappeared in a whiff of reddish smoke.
He ran his fingers through his hair and groaned, immediately alerting Sussy, who rushed up and licked the side of his face with her flappy tongue.
They'd crashed the truck, the truck with the massive litter of Baronese Terriers, the ones that hadn't been injured were mostly sprinting up and down the roads and terrorizing the indigenous plants in the area.
There were so many... Gods, they'd never catch all of them.

He stroked Sussy's back and sighed, 'They'll never learn... Oh, Sussy…' He held the dog's cheeks and looked into her eyes, 'What am I going to do with all of these incompetent workers...'

It'd only been a day but he was already talking to the dog.
Any other time and he would have been worried, but right now he found himself appreciating the dog's presence.

She licked his face as he opened his mouth to speak and he nearly suffocated with her tongue smacked down over his face, aaaaaaand suddenly he wasn't so appreciative.

Too bad he needed this job.
