I am thinking dragon fruit?

People have been speculating that this fox is a dragon fruit, which makes sense because there appears to be a dragon fruit flower on the blanket and budding dragon fruit have the same colors as this middle stage fox
I do have to agree with the people saying it looks like a Pineberry as that was my first thought
perhaps it'll keep the middle stage lineart and will have the grown pineberry colors as a PPS?

It looks like an unripe strawberry, and one of the flowers looks a lot like a strawberry flower, but I don't think many people would consider a strawberry an "unusual" fruit.
Hmm, maybe this guy is based on the pineberry fruit instead, pretty much a reversed strawberry as far as colors go, and it tastes like pineapple.

This would be really neat! I still wish it was a fuzzy little pps kiwi, but a pineberry is definitely more unusual!

The artist is following a pattern. Newborn is flower, middle stage is fruit exterior and unripe, adult is ripe fruit exterior and peeled in some areas so we can see the fruit interior.
so we need to look for fruits with that exterior color when they're unripe

and god he's gorgeous!♡
Edit: My personal guess is Pepino Melon. It looks like this when they're unripe and although the fox is yellowish, it's a particular shade which you don't usually see on fruits

and ripe

Is that from the still growing Kit? It's cute but it's such a shame we don't get to keep the newborn stage. It was so pretty too...
I want blanket pps pets of awesome newborns (like this fox

) in advent. lol I really want a newborn stage of this fox to keep. It's so beautiful.

Vincent Van Gogh. Everyone said to him, "You can't be a great painter, you only have one ear." And you know what he said? "I can't hear you."
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
