Our Song: -Resonance-

Asha's Song:-Heroes-

Companion: Barn Owl

With Asha's lack of sight, she tends to keep herself out of people's view. When that doesn't work, she is a shy viscet who remains very quiet, to keep from drawing attention to her. At times she can come across as lost as she really is, often feeling alone, even in a crowd.

Asha also strives to please people, using this drive to step out of her comfort zone quite often. She will help anyone regardless of what they look like or how they have treated her. One of her favorite things to say is that you cannot judge someone until you see what they do with the knowledge that you care. Even with her extraordinary kindness, many people still tend to just look right past her. Perhaps it's her disability and people think she wont notice, but there are ways of telling you are being ignored than just seeing.

Zigger: Zigger is the Son of Prairie and as such Asha has known him since he was little. Asha feels protective over the young viscet and looks at him as a little cousin. She tries to be like Prairie was for her and tells him stories, but unlike Prairie, most are fictional and made up. She loves to spin tales of fantasy with him and he often will draw them out to show to everyone else. Although Asha cannot see his drawings, she likes to run a paw over them to feel the raised images.

Image
Nani: Nani is very similar to Asha in many ways, including her personality and way of handling things. Asha enjoys listening to Nani as she will often describe the surroundings in as much detail as she can. Asha loves listening to her as her voice is soothing to her and she puts the effort in to make sure that Asha is able to experience things just as much.

Image
Minato: Minato strives to not only be the best he can but to also push those around him to be as good as they can. Minato doesn't take any excuses as to why they cannot. Asha is pushed to be her fullest potential by him. No exceptions for why she cannot acheive her dreams. While he can be hard on her, Asha understands that she also benefits from the push he gives her.

Image
Gray: While the first time Gray and Asha met was not the most graceful of situations, Gray has been a big help to Asha during the times that Kiranta have been busy with his job. Gray also helps with the care of the Barn Owl every now and then by doing research on owls. Gray is one of the few people, besides Kiranta, that Ty enjoys being around and even allows Gray to Touch him.

Image
Prairie: Praire thrills Asha with his tales of his adventures, filling her life with the sights she cannot see herself. His experiences are exciting and help her explore the world while remaining right where she is. He helps include some joy to her fairly monotonous life and helps her see all different places in her mind.

Image
Turq: Turq, at first was just a lost traveler moving through, but soon became a friend who would stop by on his way home. While he didn't go as far as Prairie, he still traveled enough to bring her stories of wonder and excitement. Turq also would bring things to her to touch and play around with such as plants, different stones, and something even objects he gathered. At times Asha would create things for him using the objects he would bring, such as wreathes with the plants, and a patchwork quilt for him. He appreciated the gifts from her as they turned items from his travels into such meaningful presents.

A Burden

Postby muttgirl310 » Sat Jun 16, 2018 9:33 am

Being blind wasn’t Asha’s fault but listening to her brother doing everything for her certainly made her feel like it was. She never showed it but she could hear all the sighs and mutters as he stepped in to help her with little tasks. She felt awful that he couldn’t enjoy his life more because of her but what could she do? She couldn’t exactly send him away as she did require his help more than she would like to admit. There were only a few times that she had been completely alone and it was absolutely terrifying. But how selfish was it for her to think like that. Her brother had given up his whole life to help her and here she was thinking that she couldn’t give him even a day to himself because she would be scared. She shook away the thoughts and decided that she would try to let him live more independently. She wanted him to enjoy his life and would hate if she was the reason he couldn’t.

Now he would never call her a burden, he was too kind to her to ever do such a thing. But it certainly didn't keep her from thinking it. He would tell her that she was the most important thing in his life but she never believed it. He was young. He was supposed to go out and enjoy. Not babysit his twin sister. She felt like she was holding him back. But what could she do?

All Darkness

Asha tried to find the bowl of her food, running her paws along the counter. She had just put it down now where was it? She heard the soft scrape of metal on the counter and paused a moment, it was nothing she had done so Kiranta must have moved something. She continued searching and finally found the bowl. She sat near her brother, sensing his warmth nearby and began to eat. It was so quiet, with only their breathing breaking the silence.
In the quiet, she could hear Kiranta sigh and shrunk away a bit. He wanted to go see that girl that he had met earlier today. She had overheard them speaking and heard her invited him to hang out tonight. She lowered her head a bit and stopped eating her dinner. She was scared to be alone but how could she not let him go.
"You should go.” Asha spoke softly, feeling a terrible guilt inside her stomach, “I will be fine for a night.”
“Really? You mean it?” She could hear the excitement in his voice and struggled to hide the stab of pain it caused her.
“Yes. Go.” Asha was short, just wishing he would go already and listened to him jump up and put his bowl on the counter. She remained where she had been sitting, slumping slightly with pain. There had been such excitement in his voice as she released him from the duty of watching over her. Did she really cause him that much trouble? Was she really such a burden to him? She stood and gathered up the bowls before walking the path towards the river.
The water sounded angry as Asha approached and she thought about the storm that had occurred the day before. That much rain must have caused the banks to swell so she would have to be careful. She made her way slowly towards the water but miscalculated the distance, stepping into the rushing water and slipping. As she slipped into the waves, she felt a hand try to grab her. Kiranta? What are you doing here? Her head was pulled under and she was battered around in the water. She tried to reach out to take a hold on anything, a branch or rock or perhaps Kiranta who was up on the bank. The weight of the water was crushing and it didn't take long for Asha to stop fighting it and slip into further darkness.

Asha was used to darkness but this darkness seemed different. For one, it was awfully cold here. And she could hear voices mumbling. The voices seemed far away however as she couldn't pick up what any of them were saying. She sat up and turned her head in each direction to try and pick up the sounds but to no avail. She was spooked when a voice came from so close.
"I am sorry my dear. I did try." The voice sounded masculine and Asha turned her head towards it.
"Try? What do you mean? Where am I?" Asha's voice was weak and she could feel her heart clench with fear. Where was she? She could no longer hear the river and she pulled her legs up to her chest. Where was Kiranta?
"I tried to catch you when you slipped. You fell into the river. And I am sorry to say that you have died," The voice came again.
"D-died? What?" She stuttered and suddenly remembered the hand trying to catch her. It hadn't been Kiranta. He wasn't there after all.
"Do not be afraid. I am Hades, God of the underworld and Death. I am here to greet you and to help you get settled in."
Asha curled up tighter and felt tears stinging her eyes, "But.... Kiranta.... I want to see him again...."
Asha felt a hand on her back as Hades tried to comfort her, "My dear. You have died. You will see him again eventually."
Asha started sobbing and Hades kept his contact with her back. He frowned, although Asha couldn't see it, and pondered how he could help such a poor soul. She had suffered so much already.

That was when he heard a calling from the world of the living. Someone was begging for him. He left the poor child in the hands of one of his angels and went to see who was asking for him to appear. He found himself on the River bank that the girl had fallen. A boy was holding her sobbing and begging for her to come back. Perhaps the girl wouldn't have to suffer any longer.

Asha felt herself wake up and could feel someone embracing her. She shifted slightly and heard a soft gasp, "Asha?"
“Kiranta?” Asha opened her eyes and touched her brother’s arm, “What happened?” She no longer felt cold and could feel water lapping at her legs. The river was back. She could hear it.
“You died…. You died Asha….. But I saved you…” Asha could hear Kiranta begin crying. Saved me? Could he have? Asha thought of the underworld and frowned.
“You silly boy….. That was a foolish thing of you to do.” Asha scolded her brother weakly and heard Kiranta laugh a little. She stirred more in his arms, she was awful sore and tired from everything that had happened.
She heard another voice speak, “Ready for your part of the deal, boy?”
Asha knew that voice, it was the same she had heard in the darkness. Asha felt Kiranta tighten his grip on her and she could hear his heart speed up, he was afraid. “Please. I need to take care of her though.”
Hades spoke again, “You will be able to. I’m not that heartless. You will be able to return to her each day to help care for her. However, during the night, you will work for me.”
“Work?” Kiranta tugged on Asha to stand and she did so weakly.
“Oh. Excuse me. I never introduced myself. Im Hades.” Hades seemed amused as he spoke to Kiranta, “Congrats boy. You now work for the god of death.”
Asha felt a slow sinking feeling in her stomach. What had Kiranta done?

Mostly Alone

Asha was alone very often. I mean, the days she still had Kiranta but the nights were full of silence. There is nothing to break the loneliness and Asha found it difficult to sleep. She had nightmares of the day she had died and of what Kiranta must be going through. She woke up in panics and all she found was cold air to comfort her. Of course she would never mention it to Kiranta as he had given everything for her. How could she ask for more?

Asha found it harder to remain in the cave and soon found herself wandering further from the den each night she went out walking. I guess the den had too many memories and nightmares that she subconsciously started to look for somewhere to live. How did Kiranta do it? How was he able to just throw away everything for her? She mapped out the whole area in her head slowly, walking back and forth in search of something. She didn't even know what she was looking for anymore. The cave just wasn't an option anymore. She paced, tripping occasionally, only wondering what Kiranta was doing, where he was, why he had done it.

Asha wondered if it was her fault that he had given up everything. She was the one who wasn't careful and fell into the river. He hadn't done anything wrong and yet here he was working for Hades and gone. She found herself back at the cave and could hear bird starting to chirp, signalling morning.

She couldn't see the sun rising, but she felt the warmth and instinctively turned her back to it, Kiranta always came from the other direction in the mornings. She heard it, his paws hitting the earth as he came out from the woods, "Hey sis. Another rough night?"

She ran to him and hugged him tightly, nodding to answer his question. He sighed and held her close. Asha would have to learn to adapt to all this. Kiranta had done it for a reason and she had to accept that. She pulled away a bit and she could feel a bird jump onto her shoulder. She jumped a bit and Kiranta laughed, "Asha, meet Nisha. I found Nisha all wrapped up in a net and saved it."

Asha felt the bird play with her mane with it's beak and smiled softly. She had to be strong so Kiranta had something to come home to after his job. She couldn't sit here feeling sorry for herself all the time. She stroked Nisha's feathers and went to enjoy the day with her brother.

A Ghost in the Night

Postby muttgirl310 » Wed Jun 20, 2018 1:43 pm

It was night and Asha was wandering, alone and sorta lost if she was going to be true to herself. She couldn't really figure out where she was as nothing seemed familiar. She heard a commotion ahead and found the nearest tree to hide again. Gunshots. She pressed closer to the bark of the tree to try and keep anyone from seeing her. Oh how she wished Kiranta were here as he would protect her. She felt something whip past her and squeaked softly but didn't think it was a bullet, there was too much of a breeze with it. She thought that it had to be something larger. She remained still, waiting for something to happen and heard some people laughing. She could vaguely make out their voices about how they had "gotten it" and something about a "pest".

Asha remained silent as she waited for their voices to fade and then sank against the tree in relief. When she moved, she heard a worried cry from nearby and froze. There was something there. She moved close to the tree again and listened closely, she could hear something breathing heavily nearby and focused on the sounds. Between breaths the animal made a soft cry every now and then, struggling with pain of some sort. Asha slowly crawled towards the sound, causing the animal to give off a sharp screech at her. She reached forward, as she couldn't help not coming to an animal in pain. Her paw was met with a sharp beak stabbing her and another piercing shriek.

She pulled back her hand and rubbed where the bird had pecked her while she listened to it struggle. A voice appeared nearby, "Poor thing."

"Hades?" She recognized that voice.

"Yes my dear. Your brother was worried about you so I came to check in. As well as collect that poor soul." He seemed to be referencing the animal nearby.

"It's dying?" Asha asked quietly and she heard Hades shift a bit and sigh, "please. Help me save it?"

Hades chuckled a bit, "I'm the god of Death and you are asking me to help you save something?"

Asha felt tears forming in her eyes, "You told me once that you aren't heartless."

Hades laughed a bit and Asha could feel him move closer to her, "Very well. Just reach out when I tell you to."

She heard a rustle of feathers and the bird shriek again before Hades spoke, "ok, hold your arms out? Yup. Just like that. Now hold tightly."

He placed a larger bird in her arms, wrapped in some sort of fabric. He then helped her stand and guided her back to the den. Once in the den, he helped guide her to bandage the gunshot wound which was in the shoulder and wing of the bird. He held it's head and stroked it to keep it calm and to keep it from pecking at her as she treated it. Before releasing it fully, he had Asha stand back in case it lashed out. Asha waited nervously for the sound of wings and thrashing but it never came.

"Hades? What is happening?" She asked.

"Nothing. The bird is remaining right where you had it. I think it has realized that you saved it." Hades spoke as he walked over to her.

Asha shivered a bit but was becoming used to the cold that seemed to surround Hades and he rested a paw on her shoulder, "You take care now Darling. Can't be panicking your brother all the time. The mortal world is exhausting."

Asha could hear the joking in his voice and smiled, "I will try. But first, Hades?"

"Yes?"

"What is the bird?" She asked, curious to know just what she had saved.

"It's a barn owl. They are often thought of as ghosts haunting abandoned buildings. So I guess you two are pretty similar, huh?" Hades chuckled softly and Asha nodded.

"I guess we are." She smiled and looked at him, "What should I name him?"

"Again, you are asking me? I don't know. Ghost." Hades laughed and Asha pondered for a second.

"Ty."

"Ty? Why did you choose that?" Hades asked.

"Short for Tyto. The scientific name for Barn Owls are Tyto alba."

Hades laughed again and patted her shoulder, "You surprise me all the time my dear. Take care."

She felt the breeze as he vanished and moved to sit near the owl, "You are ok Ty. I won't let anything hurt you."
