Riddle me this, why do plants have flowers?
More of a biology question than a riddle...
Well, a lot of flowering plants, like apple trees, cherry trees, watermelon vines, pumpkin vines, etc., have flowers because they turn into fruit after they've been pollinated.

I guess it depends on the plant? Flowers petals are modified leaves that generally act as protectors to parts of the flower and others use it to either attract or repel certain pollinators... the day 1 outcome of does remind me of the development of a microspore into a pollen grain.

You got it, these foxes are based off fruit, with a bit of an abstract twist. I've chosen fairly unusual fruit, so points to whoever can guess them all ^^
(Bonus hint: the flowers on the newborn are not random)

After searching the internet
yes I'm not afraid to admit it I believe this fox is a Mulberry?
I was thinking maybe if the green skin of the second stage was the outer skin than the fox is representing the flesh of the fruit? So maybe a Guava, Fig, pomelo, or even a tomato species? I feel like pomegranate is a pretty well known fruit but that could also be a possibility however that throws my green skin red flesh hypothesis out...

This means i was partially right!
the 1st one looks indeed like a guava!
The 2nd and 3rd are cantaloupe (i love that orange-creamy colored ear fluff♡) and watermelon!
But i can't figure out the last one....it looks like a reverted fruit dragon to me...somehow

That's not always the case. Sometimes if they take a long time to grow, they'll grow into a PPS instead of growing into a full-grown outcome. That might be what happens with this last newborn fox, but we'll have to wait and see.
