Weather - New-Leaf
Spring. The first sign of spring this year was a flurry of
delicate white flowers, sprouting up, seemingly to their
full height within a single night. Bluebells followed not
long behind them. The weather remains cold, but the
clan cats are sure that the slightly increased warmth
on their pelts isn't just wishful thinking brought on by
the first flowers.
The snow that came up to a cat's stomach is starting
to thaw out, and in steeper places, water can be
seen creeping out from beneath the white, and tiny
spikes of grass peeping out from its top, hoping for
some blessed sunlight before baby rabbits come.
And, of course, its not just rabbits that have their
kits more easily at this time of year. The clans can
expect to see plenty of growth, with new kits and
bountiful food.

The two BearClan members layed lazily in the sun. Something about the warm rays banished all worry from their minds. Sandstep had her head on her paws. Her tail flicked every so often at the annoying flies that occasionally pestered her. Slatestar gazed fondly at her. They had been Clanmates for around a moon and, since it was only the two of them, he had grown rather close to his deputy. He trusted her with everything. He felt odd thinking this. The tom hadn't been able to say that about many cats he had met over his lifetime. However, the pale ginger she-cat had instantly clicked as a trustworthy character. Slatestar stretched his paws out while laying on his side. Heaving a sigh, he blinked at Sandstep, meeting her eyes. "Is this all we're doing today, Slatestar?" She asked quietly. "Why, do you want to do something different?" He meowed back, a teasing tone in his voice. She cleared her throat. "N-No, I like being lazy as much as any other cat," she explained "but when I joined, you told me it would be difficult. Not to be rude but this isn't exactly my idea of rigorous work and painful survival." The she-cat twitched her whiskers in amusement. Slatestar just blinked. "Um. Well." He stuttered, not knowing how to respond. Sandstep rose to her feet and arched her back, parting her jaws in a wide yawn. After her stretch, she padded up to her leader. "You said deputies organize patrols, right?" she recalled. Slatestar smiled and nodded. "Well, then I'm choosing you to come on a patrol with me. Then we can both hunt." She decided, walking off. As she was leaving, she turned around to face him, a spark of playfulness in her eyes. "Don't worry. When we get back we can go back to being lazy fatcats." Slatestar chuckled, amused and pleased at her eagarness and dedication to her role already. He pulled himself to his feet and followed her out of the camp.

Snowpaw watched the naming ceremony happily as she knew she wouldn't be alone with just Brindlepaw in the apprentice's den anymore. She saw Juniperpaw, Greypaw, and Bramblepaw come her way and stood to greet them warmly. "Hey guys! I'm so excited to share a den with you until I'm a warrior, then I look forward to being a warrior with you all!" she exclaimed with a big smile. Juniperpaw brushed by her like Snowpaw didn't even exist and Greypaw only smiled nervously. "Thanks..." was all he said before following his brooding sister. Bramblepaw was the only one that actually spoke to Snowpaw. "Thank you... I'm excited to get to know you better and hunt or patrol with you!" he said nervously. Snowpaw smiled so wide she had to close her eyes. "That sounds great! I can't wait!"
"Snowpaw!!" Birchfur called. Snowpaw looked at her mentor then began trotting off. "Talk later then!"

Saltwind spoke with Timberstar after the ceremony with a tail flicking happily. "I can't believe our clan has grown so quick... it seems like only last moon when I joined and it was just us and Birchfur." He said with nostalgia in his voice. Timberstar nodded. "I agree. I didn't expect Fireclan to grow so fast. It feels good knowing how stable we've become."
"Well, I guess to keep this clan growing I better get to my boarder patrol. See you later!"
"Agreed, friend."

Weather:

Leafbare has come to an end and now the snow has started to melt and flood the territories of the clans. The early mornings seem to be frozen but it doesn't take long for the sun to warm up and begin the melting process all over again. Prey have started to come out of their burrows now, though is it from the warmth of the flooding that was caused by the melting snow? Just because prey is abundant does not mean that they have to relax, predators are going to be about still and might even target your cats.

weather: new-leaf.
during newleaf, kittings will run much smoother and the chances of the queens or kits dying during birth will go down dramatically. there is also a higher chance that you catch more prey than usual. in addition, the chances of catching greencough, whitecough, and kittencough will go down. with all the snow melting, it is very likely that your territory will start flooding. there will also be more storms that will contribute to the flooding. the odds of finding new cats is very high.

xxxx"Great, we just left the camp and now it's starting to rain," Sheila muttered with a shake of her head.
xxxxSootstripe chuckled at her exasperation. "It's only a little drizzle, and it doesn't look like it should get any worse while we're out, so it's nothing to worry about."
xxxxThey certainly didn't need anymore rain, though. With the combination of the melted snow and the new-leaf storms, the territory was quickly beginning to flood. The only ones who enjoyed this weather were the apprentices, who would scamper out of the camp to jump around in the puddles and have some fun, soon returning to their dens absolutely soaked. It was a wonder they hadn't caught colds yet, Blizzardstone had said. Despite her and the warriors' warnings, the two could still be discovered out playing in the rain. At least they were having fun.
xxxxIn addition to Bramblepaw and Petalpaw, the numerous new Clan-mates were quickly becoming comfortable in their new home. After spending so long in Blizzardstone's den due to his accident, Cindermask had become good friends with her and often could be found helping out sorting herbs or checking on Scarletdawn. He particularly looked forward to the latter of those two activities - it was obvious to the whole Clan that he was head over heels for the pretty queen. As for the others, Sheila liked to spend her free time flirting with everybody and getting into playful arguments with Lightfrost while Blazethistle and the newest arrival, Bearclaw, preferred to keep to themselves.
xxxxSootstripe's thoughts were interrupted when the snapping of a twig nearby caught the patrol's attention. Sniffing the air, he reported in a whisper, "Cat."
xxxx"The scent seems almost familiar..." Tawnystar murmured puzzledly after taking a whiff of the air herself.
xxxxSheila curiously glanced at her. "Familiar, you say?"
xxxxAfter a moment's hesitation, the leader called out in a clear voice, "Who are you? What are you doing on RoseClan territory?"
xxxxThey were met with silence.
xxxx"I demand an answer."
xxxx"W-we're just loners passing through. I'm terribly sorry, I-I didn't realize this was Clan territory -"
xxxx"What is your name?" Sootstripe quickly interrupted, his eyes wide and hopeful as he and his sister held their breath.
xxxx"My name is Fernlight, and I'm with my mate Dewfang."
xxxxShe had barely finished speaking when the siblings darted forward through the brush in their direction. Fernlight let out a yelp in surprise and Dewfang a snarl before recognizing their former Clan-mates. Their eyes grew wide and their jaws dropped a little.
xxxx"Tawnyspark? Sootstripe?" the brown tabby breathed, stepping forward after they nodded to rub her cheek against the ginger's. "Oh, StarClan, I never thought I'd see you again!" she cried. "What happened? How have you been? How is your new Clan treating you?" Question after question streamed from her lips.
xxxxTawnystar grinned widely. "Actually... I founded this Clan with my brothers and Blizzardstone. I'm Tawnystar now."
xxxxThe older molly stared into her amber eyes while her own began to shine with happy tears. She gasped, "Tawny... Tawnystar..? Oh, I'm so happy for you. Where are your parents?"
xxxxWhen Tawnystar's face fell a little, Sootstripe answered for her, "They didn't make it.... We have a lot to talk about. Why don't you two return to our camp with us?"
xxxx"Oh... oh, that would be great, yes, thank you," Fernlight mewed, and Dewfang nodded in agreement.

it seemed brightstar was a very lucky tom. not only had starclan blessed him with
pinewhisker, whom he had made deputy, but he had also stumbled across reedclaw,
and her two kits, duckpaw and lizardkit. he learned that while duckpaw had been
born with no siblings, lizardkit had been born with three other kits, two of which
were stillborn, and one which died shortly after being born. he could see reedclaw
was heartbroken about the loss of her kits, but was trying to stay strong for her
children. she was very glad to have found brightstar and joined his clan, and she
and her kits didn't mind abandoning their rouge names (briar, shrike, and black) and
adopting more traditional clan names. brightstar also noticed how both lizardkitand
duckpaw seemed very similar to their mother - all three were shy, but incredibly kind,
with strong morals. duckpaw seemed the most outgoing, and would even joke around
with her new mentor, pinewhisker. pinewhisker was a refugee from a war between
several clans, and seemed reluctant to say much else. he was, however, a seemingly
loyal and brave tom. it seemed he looked forward to serve as blueclan's new deputy.

brightstar was pleased with how his clan was forming. he was, however, getting very
concerned with the lack of food. he was used to feeding himself, but he hadn't eaten
properly since his trip to the moonpool, and he could see everyone else was hungry too.
he was also worried about any potential clans bordering his territory. he hadn't smelled

sending out patrols, and told pinewhisker to go hunting with duckpaw, while he marked
borders and patrolled the territory. with a smile, he told lizardkit he was in charge of
guarding the camp. lizardkit seemed very pleased. reedclaw nuzzled duckpaw, told her
to behave for pinewhisker, and the two patrols left to begin looking after their new clan.

W E A T H E R
Newleaf- Spring has arrived in the clans, and life is prospering. the first whisper of this thriving season came from the small flower buds bursting from every treetop. Prey poked their heads out from their burrows, feeling a gentle breeze for the first time in moons. Prey will be higher due to this. As the cold temperature slowly rises, kittings will go much smoother, and the chances of death by childbirth or being stillborn have drastically went down. Along with the departure of freezing winds and chilling snow, kittencough, whitecough, or greencough are highly uncommon in newleaf. However, with the heat rising, the remnants of snow are beginning to melt, causing floods everywhere. Storms will contribute to these, and due to this, more cats will want to join your clan to avoid the bad weather.

Five of the senior apprentices ran around camp, chattering with nerves. Heronrise surveyed his companions: Raccoonrise was talking to Featherrise telling the blind apprentice she would be fine, her tail tip twitching nervously; Fawnrise had her head raised confidently, only her darting eyes betraying the anxiety she hid, and Goldenrise sat still with his eyes half closed as Magpierise bounced around beside him, his white fur shining in the sunlight. Heronrise was ready for his assessment, and he couldn't wait, the only thing annoying him was Thornstride and Dustfeather.

"I was nervous too, and so was Thornstride, were you? Go for it, Heronrise!" Dustfeather meowed, his tail waving side to side. He had been acting like the StarColony had chosen him after becoming a warrior, and even Flamewing hadn't acted like that yet she usually intimidated others. "Thank you Dustfeather, but why don't you bother Fawnrise? I'm sure your sister would love the tips," The black and white tom suggested, giving Thornstride a look. Unfortunately, Thornstride wasn't the sharpest claw on the paw and he shared no sign that he had seen the plead in Heronrise's green and blue eyes other then a glance in his direction. Dustfeather shook his head, and continued, "Thornstride, do you remember-"

Suddenly, a golden ball of fluff rolled past right on queue, a mouse in her mouth. It was Saffronkit, the newest trouble maker, followed by an angry Lionscorch. The kit suddenly threw the mouse to one side, into a giggling Gorserise's clutches. Then Saffronkit sat earnestly in the middle of camp, aware of the apprentices and warriors watching her. Heronrise backed away from Dustfeather, and blinked thankfully at his distractions."Saffronkit, give me the mouse," Lionscorch pleaded, his amber eyes narrowed into slits.

"I don't have the mouse, Lionkit," said the golden kit naively, her brown eyes stretched even wider. Lionscorch extended his claws. Wisteriawhisper exchanged a worried glance with Hurricanegaze. "Lionscorch, say please!" Gorserise demanded, appearing from behind the Moontree. "Please can I have the mouse, Gorserise!" Lionscorch growled.

Gorserise threw the mouse to him, and just as he caught it, the Guardians appeared. "The StarColony has given us this prey Lionscorch," Emberblaze began. "Although prey is plentiful, we can't just jump about with it! Cats who fiddle with prey clearly have too much time on their paws," Solarspark took over, with another look at Emberblaze. "Lionscorch, you are assigned to the Second hunting patrol, which I will be leading." then the tortoiseshell tom walked towards the camp entrance proudly. Aconite disguised a snort, and the three elders looked at each other before laughing. "I don't think we should have told her about Lionscorch being an evil member of LionClan!" Russetheart rasped with glee."And the apprentices call me grumpy," Eaglefrost snorted, his green eyes bright."CosmoClan is so odd!" Greypatch muttered.

Heronrise moved away from Dustfeather, who was now talking about his assessment with an annoyed Heatherclaw, only to bump into his mentor, Blacknose. "Lyrastar has said your assessment will be after Sunhigh, are you ready?" The black and white apprentice nodded. "Yes!"
