i love plants
Hello everyone! Decided to join the plant fun c:
A little about me to start I guess?
I adore plants, thanks to my mum and having grown up on a hobby farm. I strongly believe that if it's possible for you to, you should grown your own produce. Which is what I've been trying for the past year haha. These are my current plants;
regular tomato
chilli
bok choy
eggplant
rosemary
parsely
spring onion
mint
& a few different varieties of chrysanthemums I nicked from mum's garden.
I also have seeds collected from capsicum (red & green), another chilli variety, peas, spinach, golden passionfruit, snapdragon and yellow cherry tomatoes.
@lesbian
That little chilli is adorable! Hopefully it's not a temperamental as mine was growing past 10cm haha
@dibidibidis
You have such an impressive plant collection omg. I hope one day I can catch up!

Welcome Raikki! Thank you omg, I adore the cactus so much,
as soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew I needed to own it lmao xD
also your succulent is gorgeous! i've never seen one before!!!
---
Welcome Moz! I adore snapdragons, their petals are so pretty!
I agree totally about growing your own produce, my father and
I have been growing a lot of our own fruit and vegetables - we
haven't had any crops yet, but some things are getting close!
We have: a pear tree, strawberries, lettuce, rocket, beetroot,
carrots, shallots, scallion, a gooseberry bush, lil chili and bell
pepper seedlings, cherry and regular tomatoes, pomegranate
seedlings and we also have tonnes of herbs haha. We used to
have an apple tree but my dad gave it to a friend of his lmao.
Oh man, I hope not haha, the chili has already taken a long
time to germinate haha but it's been growing really well
despite that!! :3
---
I decided to count up my indoor plants, and I mostly have
succulents, but I have about 50 plants in my bedroom haha
some of them are offsets from other plants though :3
my favourite of my plants I have at the moment is my perle
von nurnberg, every time i look at it i just love it more and
more! it's actually been a dream of mine to own ever since
i saw dibidibidis' perle for the first time!

If you have any care advice for it, let me know! I wanna
help it grow as healthily and strong as possible <3
whats your favourite plant you currently own? :3

@Mozzy I’m new too! You are growing a lot of plants, though I’m sure growing up where you have it’s a piece of cake for you :0! Have you successfully grown produce on your own in the past with aid? I hope the best for your harvest :3

Hi! My name is Shoe. and I found this thread by searching for threads related to cactus and succulents! I’ve had my cactus for around a year, his name is Apples and he is great, everything I could ever want in a plant, but I’ve heard he’s supposed to bloom and after some research I found out that coincidentally it’s time to stop watering him once a month and start watering him once a week! (I don’t know if he’s actually a male plant but I’ve been calling him one). I also read it’s bad to use tap water and rain water is the best water I could provide for this little guy, but i was wondering if bottled water would work equally as well? Thank you!
Im Shoe.!
I'm good at stuff

I'm not an expert but I've always used bottled or filtered tap water (I have a little water purifier thing) for my indoor plants and they've done great with it!

From what I know, watering succulents with tapwater is mostly alright - I am
sure there are exceptions, but all of mine are thriving and iI use tap water :3
there are certain plants (the main ones i know about are carnivorous plants)
that are incredibly sensitive to the additives in tap water
rain water is great for plants though - unless you live in a highly polluted area
where the rain is acidic (but that would only affect plants who dislike acidity)
i cannot vouch for distilled or filtered water though, as some plants (air plants)
get their nutrients from water!
(also, welcome shoe! :3 apples is a super adorable name for a plant ;v; !!
i love sunflowers too and for the first time this year we're growing some but
the slugs and snails are being very rude and eating up all of my babies!!! >:( )

Whilst checking on my plants yesterday, I moved the pot of my perle von nuremberg slightly, and it suddenly snapped from it's stem. I'm honestly not sure how because I literally moved it about 1cm, without even tipping the pot or anything. I'm pretty sure it won't survive because it now only has two, little roots, which I have tried to bury in the soil ;-; Does anyone have any idea as to why it has done this? It's been doing really well recently so I'm not sure how it has weakened, but the stem still seems to be quite strong.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
As for my other plants, they seem to be doing fine! My ficus tree started losing a few leaves, so I decided to start watering it more often, which has helped it massively. I also put it out in the rain for a bit the other day to let it get some more nutrients.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
I was given a book the other day, which gives loads of examples for presenting plants (terrariums, hanging baskets, etc). So if anyone is looking for inspiration, then I would happily share some of the ideas included in the book!! I'm pretty sure it's called "Bringing the Outside in", if anyone would like to find it ♥
