Okay I know this idea is super cringey but I'm still just a young writer and I don't really know how to make a good story lol.
So I've had this idea for a semi-furry anime for a while, and idk what I want to name it yet but it's about this universe where people all have a "soul creature", and once they meet the creature (animal) that their soul carries, they then have the magical power to transform half into it (like a neko for example), or fully transform into the animal and become an anthro (that's where the furry idea comes in). This grants them special abilities the animals have that the people don't. So basically humans in this universe are magical shapeshifters, but, they can only have the power to transform into one animal, and what animal they transform into is not their choice. Anyway, there's this girl named May, and when she's ten she goes to a soul creature camp, like every other kid she knows. These camps are basically giant zoos where kids just look at tons and tons of different mammals until they find their soul creature. Some kids find their soul creature in the first hour. Other kids will take a full day to find it. But May has seen every animal in the camp, and still has no transforming power. She realizes her soul creature hasn't been discovered yet, which is rare since on the very tiny planet she lives on, almost every animal living there has been discovered. Most people like May just accept that they will never have the power to transform, some go to camps and try to see if newly discovered animals are their soul creatures (new animals are rarely discovered nowadays, in May's time), but May is not willing to just give up and never have to power to transform and gain the animal abilities she does not have. As a child, she loved to go on hikes and adventures, trying hard to catch a glimpse of any sign of an animal, hoping it would be her soul creature. But as she grows up, and friends tell her to not give up, she becomes more serious. She becomes a traveler, no, not on a team of people trying to discover new species, she goes on a quest by herself to find her soul animal. She feels it will be more fulfilling. As she travels the undiscovered lands of her tiny planet, she finds friends, love, bravery and determination, and in the end, her soul animal (which is a secret until I write or animate this someday).
