Murderers in Riverclan V.3 [welcome back!]

The second night, the second victim. The killer watched Firefeather as he snuck prey from the fresh kill pile. For shame, firefeather. Satisfied with his pick, he headed ti the medicine cat den. The killer followed, only stopping to grab another fat fish and stuffed some earlier stored death berries into it. As they approached the medicine cats den, the killer overheard Ratpounce exclaim "You were supposed to get me something to!"

The killer froze. They hadn't intended on two cats. But it was too late to turn back, they'd just both have to go. Padding in, the killer set the fish down "May I join you? I got this for myself, but you can have it." The killer gave the poisoned fish to Ratpounce, who took it, before going and getting their own. The small group spoke for a short time and eventually all the prey was gone. The effects of the fish set in quickly, and Ratpounce exclaimed he was going to go to sleep as he was feeling ill. Firefeather and his companion left the medicine cat to sleep, but the killer knew what would happen

The two cats spoke for another brief, somewhat awkward time until the killer got bored. They decided it was time for the intended victim to go. They went straight for the kill, and despite a very weak effort from the tired firefeather, the killer won the fight, delivering a swift bite to his throat and leaving him to bleed out inside camp

Quickly rinsing up, they slipped into their nest. Nice and full, as well as killing two birds with one st.. Well, fish, the killer felt accomplished and drifted off to sleep

In the morning, Ratpounce was found in his nest, obviously having suffered violent convulsions

xxxroseriver awoke the next morning with heavy eyes as sunlight streamed in through the den's opening, a yawn parting her lis as she stretched out her plump body, rising slowly to her paws. shaking off her thick fur, she gave it a few self conscious licks as her gaze cleared of sleep, before exiting the den, glancing aimlessly up at the morning sky for a second, before a thick scent hit her in the face, causing her to stumble and freeze, her chocolate gaze snapping downwards.

xxxthe scent of death wafted through the camp, and at the source of it all was firefeather's body, his back twisted at an unnatural angle, his throat stained with scarlet, pelt ratted with scratches. roseriver's eyes blew wide, her fur frizzing up as she stumbled towards the body. a quiet, distressed wail left her muzzle.

xxx"nonono, no no, no-" she repeated, staring down at the body now at her snowy paws, her breath hitching in her throat as she stared in alarm at the medicine den, before stumbling towards that in a new attempt to wake ratpounce up to notify him of another murder. but the moment she entered the mouth of the den, her gaze fell to the medicine cat's body, who was wretched as if he had been frozen in the middle of retching something up, the scent of vomit now mixed with the heavy scent of death that clouded the den.

xxx"oh starclan, no!-"

xxxher breath beginning to quicken in a panic, roseriver shook her head hurriedly, before giving another wail, much louder this time. "riverclan! ratpounce and firefeather are dead!"

Frostedstar eyes flashed open as soon as she heard another cat yowl. Oh no, please not again. She quickly sat up, her brain rushing through her thoughts. Don’t let it be Firefeather, don’t let it be Firefeather. She rushed out of her den, spotting Roseriver standing near the medicine cats den. “Roseriver? What’s happening? What...” Frostedstar soon reached Roseriver, skiddibg to a stop, her voice trailing off. Firefeathers body lay stiffly, dried blood coating his throat and the ground. The stench hit her, and she reeled back. “Oh, no nonnononon.” Tears began to pool in Frostedstars eyes, and she looked back over at Roseriver. “W-what about Ratpounce? Is he awake yet?” She walked further into the den, and spotted Ratpounce, frozen in a pose of agony. “Oh no. I knew it wasn’t Owlstrike. Oh, starclan, why is this happening?” Frostedstar sobbed, falling onto the ground.

Breezefire woke up as two cats rushed into her den, blood filling the room as she woke up. "Wh-what's going on, Roseriver?" she asked her best friend. She then looked in the direction that she did. A frozen, agonized Ratpounce was slumped in the corner of the den. The herbs were messed up but Breezefire didn't care. "n-no... No... NO!" the she-cat whisper yelled. "Why him? He was the best mentor I could have ever wished for..." she cried and sobbed into his pelt. "I- I'll get the burial herbs ready..." the she-cat whispered, sorting the herbs. "Roseriver... Will this ever end?" she asked her best friend.

Bramblestorm found herself in her own world, thinking heavily on Emeraldeye's death- and if they really did exile the right cat. She snapped to her senses as she heard multiple yowls coming from the medicine cat's den. Scampering to her paws, the deputy raced out of the den and over, her heart beating. The smell of death hit her like a wall. Many cats were in the medicine cat den, but outside was a limp body. Her fur stuck up in horror as she realized what was happening. As Bramblestorm drew closer, she could make up that the awkward body was Firefeather. Her paws felt heavy with every step she made. She sat down, speechless. She then turned her head, seeing Frostedstar and Breezefire wailing over another body. What is happening..?

xxxroseriver turned to stare at breezefire when the darker coloured molly awoke, her eyes blown wide at the loss of her friend's mentor. her body was tense when she watched breezefire slump into ratpounce's body sobbing, her own brows tilting up in concern for the grieving molly. "breezefire, froststar, i-i-" she choked, shaking her head free of grog, "i don't know, but i'll try to help you.."

xxxhanging her head for a moment, the sound of another set of pawsteps gathering behind them caused her head to snap around, now staring at bramblestorm with wide, distrustful eyes. it took a second, but she glanced over the molly for a moment, stepping back as if to let the other two into the den, her tufted tail beginning to frizz up in defence as her eyes narrowed.

xxxthe ginger molly's suspicions were set- who else would have had enough strength to seemingly break the backs of two of her clanmates, judging by the way they had been found? who would have been so easily able to take down other warriors without too much of a scratch on themselves? but it was left in the air about ratpounces's death: from the vomit, it looked like he had been poisoned.

xxxbarely noticing she had continuously been staring distastefully at the deputy when she entered, roseriver gritted her teeth, her plump body now shaking with unshed tears, tense. who could she trust? the first exile was wrong, and now two more cats were dead.

Frostedstar sighed, quickly standing up. She couldn’t break down, not right here not right now. “Lets.... Let’s take their bodies out to the clearing.” Frostedstars eyes narrowed suspiciously as Bramblestorm walked in. She knew it was probably bad to suspect her deputy, the cat she was supposed to trust. But, in a time like this, it didn’t matter much. Brambkestorm was bigger, big enough to easily snap someones neck. She was smart too, smart enough to poison the medicine cat. “We should also gather everyone up. We’ll need to vote, and give Firefeather and Ratpounce a proper goodbye.” Frostedstar sighed sadly, and went to Firefeather, slowly beginning to drag him into the clearing.
