Type of Work: Original Fiction
Genera: Realistic Fiction
Describe the Plot: Miles is spending Christmas alone this year after both of his closest friends were unable to make the detour to his place that for the holidays, one due to financial limitations and the other cancelling plans due to a family emergency. Miles had no plans to return home this year due to an argument he had with his parents several years prior that had yet to be resolved. So it's Christmas Eve, Miles is at his apartment and he is determined to stay up until midnight as tradition follows. Waiting around, he comes up with the idea to go though a scrapbook his good friend made him for his 21st birthday so he wouldn't feel so lonely. So he goes though the scrapbook, looking at memories from his childhood to present day: Birthdays (both his and friends), Halloween, Christmas, New Years, Award Ceremonies, ect. and becomes rather nostalgic at the bittersweet memories and ends up feeling more lonely than when he started. The story ends with him taking a picture of himself on one of his old Polaroid cameras writing, Merry Christmas, under it with the resolve to fill in one of the pages his friend intentionally left blank for him, with pictures from what he coins will be "The Best Solo Christmas Anyone Has Ever Seen".
