"The" Rares List Guide - Do not ask about new UR's!

I remember, a long time ago, the joker was simply worth a wood angel or a pink/blue balloon.

It really bothers me that every time we shift the joker up to compensate for it's demand, the price people are asking and paying for it shoots up as well. I think the fact that we move it higher may help in forcing the price higher.

Perhaps we should just stop moving it up before things really go through the roof?

I was going to say that people are starting to give wood wings for the BA. And, I heard it was only worth a Blue Rose, but I guess I'm wrong. And, people are giving a blue sorbets for Toxics so I was going to say maybe we should put blue toxic=blue sorbet? I don't know. Just a suggestion.

I also have been seeing some of that too in auctions, apparently, I think the worth of Black Advents should/could go on the big list. I don't think it's that necesary to put them equal. Some people have more demand in sorbets maybe?

2. Please keep in mind that the gap in value between the lines on this list may vary significantly. Some pets right above one another may be fair swaps, while others might have a large gap in worth.

If I may make a suggestion to perhaps allow people to understand rarity placement a little better, since so many people use this list as a "rarity bible". I often get confused as to which pets are right below in rarity, and which have a gap. Maybe it would be easier to understand by using some sort of notation as to space, such as a " * "

For instance...

Plains Zebra
Grevy's Zebra
Mountain Zebra

Banana

Dogtag
UR Cat
July PPS

Coontail Dog

This would indicate that the fairness of the zebras are just under another, whereas if you were to trade a banana for a mountain zebra, you can see there's a small gap and would perhaps need to add another pet too the banana side. Or let's say you wanted to trade a Coontail for a July PPS, you can see there's quite a gap and would have to add quite a few pets.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea!!! This would help me, anyway, so unbelievably much!!

Might stretch the page, but smaller fonts could be used and the commentary shortened. That would help.

I don't think the font should be shrunk for the list itself, but maybe some of the other stuff. I don't think people would really care if the page is stretched either.

This has happened to the BA almost solely because of one user overpaying the BAs they are hoarding. When the Black Advent gets moved off the Advents list, it will go onto the Septembers list - no higher.

I'm not so sure about this. It would stretch out the list considerably and just make it hard to look at in general. The font can't go much smaller with sacrificing readability. Also, the gap between pets may vary a lot, and is not so quantifiable as to assign a certain number of stars. If someone needs to know the gap in value between pets, they can ask in the "How much is this pet worth?" thread.

There's only so much I can do about people treating this as a "bible" of sorts. It was really never meant to be that, and I try to make that clear in the introduction. The more specific we make the information here, the more I think it will be interpreted as fact instead of just a guide.

But the list does undeniably influence trading now, for better or for worse. Which is one of the reasons I want to be careful about moving up pets that are already in very high demand. Like what Jeweled said about the Joker, I am reluctant to move the Toxics or the Black Advent too high.

Sounds like a great idea to me, O_O
It's not like you would have to put a gap between MANY pets, just the ones that say have a significant gap so that everyone knows.

This is actually not true. BA's aren't going for woodwings (though they might as well...my gosh has the demand risen >>). The person who offered the woodwing for it was absolutely desperate to get the black advent since it was pretty much her dreamy. We all know it probably won't happen all the time, only in a few instances of desperate measures when someone REALLY wants it. About the Blue sorbet for toxics thing...man that's rediculous. Only for the purple toxic or blue toxic would it be at all close, but for red yellow and green...it's just....holy moley. |D

As for Tyr's idea; I like it, but as deja said it would be really hard to look at, and really confusing in some cases.

I don't think it would really be that confusing, but that's just me. As Kefri mentioned, it could possibly even work as just an extreme gap. In my opinion though, I think it would work best with all gaps. If you're worried about space, you can always ask Tess if you can recreate the thread, and still link to the old one. One page can consist of "The Rares", the next of septembers, etc. It would also be useful to know how MUCH of a "significant gap" is between the Advents, Septembers, and "The Rares". Maybe a more in depth guide for the Advents, since they're increasing in rarity if they're not on the big list yet. Including where store pets are after they leave the store would also be helpful.

I dunno, the more people we can educate and help people understand where pets lie on the rarity scale, the less stupid trades and scams for everyone.
