Raccoontail snorted as Tangletail killed the badger and followed Foxpaw. He looked at the bush with a growl and pushed his way in. Quickly he caught the meowing of little cubs. He then caught sight of them. They were young and helpless. He shook his head and walked to the first badger. With lightning quickness he sliced his claws across it's throat, slicing the jugular. It gave a pitiful snarl and tried to stand, only to die a second later. He went to each cub slowly, killing it until the den reeked of blood and all the cubs were dead. He sighed and padded back out to look at Foxpaw slowly. He didn't bother to wash the blood from his paws. "Let's head back" He meowed, his eyes hard and his face unreadable.

Ashpaw watched quietly, his face full of hate. He gave a little jump as the neck snapped. "I'll guard it" He promised. He saw on Tangletail's face was the same hate that filled his heart. "What did a badger do to you?" He blurted out before he could stop himself.

Foxpaw nodded and followed Raccoontail back. "They were a treat and they deserved to die. All treats to the clan must die." She whispered, trying to get herself to believe it.

Crowflight turned to go back to camp with Foxpaw and Raccoontail when she heard a low growl behind her. Spinning around she saw 2 large badgers looming up in front of her. She shouted to Foxpaw and Raccoontail, who were a little ways away. "Foxpaw go get the other warriors, now! Raccoontail, take the one on the right, I'll take this one!" Crowflight dogged, and just in time, as the badger on the left swung a paw at her, hard enough that if it had made any contact with her, she would have been dead. She had only just recovered when the badger on the right started running towards her, instead of dodgeing this time, she knew the badger would be expecting that, she ran straight at it and right through it's legs, yowling while clawing at it's back fur.

Raccoontail gave a silent curse under his breath and with a wild yowl he launched himself at the badger, gripping his back with thorn sharp claws and trying to bite the back of the neck, seeking the soft spot for when bitten, would kill the badger.

Tangletail could feel his eyes slide down to his claws as they dug into the peet soil. "you wouldn't know of this yourself or from most of the other apprentices firstpaw either." he said slowly bringing his eyes up to his apprentice and sitting down with his tail curled around his forepaws. "Leafclan was ravaged by a badger invasion, I was just a kit only a few moons old with my brother Mosskit and my sister Darkkit. the day had been as anyother in early leaf-fall, me and my littermates were playing in the scattered leaves that gave this clan its name. the queen Birchfall had just had her kits, now Marshpaw and Frostpaw. We were told to stay out of the nursery for fear our play might hurt the newborn kits, then the playful breeze dropped as the whole clan gasped at what lumbered through the camp entrance after an older apprentice named Eaglepaw. Mother Ivytail pushed us into the nursery as two more flooded in through the beaten entrance, she never followed us and as yowls brokeout across camp Darkkit became frightened we could hear the warriors all of them trying to drive out the beasts." Tangletail pushed past the lump forming in his throat and continued. "She bolted from the nursery and I followed, she had heard my mother but she never saw the badger, the beast was young and blood matted its fur but it charged after the helpless kit that was my sister. I-I- I couldn't call her back in time but my mother had seen her kit, she knew our calls like her own and she slashed at the things muzzle drawing blood and it away from Darkkit. the moment I saw her I knew she was gone, yet the battle still raged on and I saw my mother fall to the same badger as another attacked from behind. Silversong said I came hissing and spitting at one of those badgers my hackles raised, though I can only remember the battle through the memories of cats who were there" he looked at Ashpaw, it was half true but the cats did not tell him the strange gift of late had given him the memories of others.

Foxpaw nodded and ran towards Tangletail and Ashpaw, screeching "Badger attack!! Badger attack!"

Ashpaw dipped his head. "A badger killed my father and younger sister. I don't remember much of it though but I remember snarling and the scent of blood" He gave a small shiver and then bolted up as Foxpaw came running forward. "Badgers" he hissed and looked at Tangletail, ready to fight

Tangletail snapped from his memories, and hissed "Ashpaw, run back to camp with Foxpaw as fast as you can gather more warriors and bring them" he said turning tail and running to Raccontail and Crowflight. he had never told Ashpaw to not fight, and he prayed to Starclan the tom had enough sense to either not fight or not get himself killed.
