Weather - Leaf-bare
Winter. Sometimes, winter creeps in slowly, lulling
cats into a sense of security. This year is not like that.
Winter started with a storm; one day still autumn, the next
icy cold and unwelcome, and announced with thunder.
Where cold comes, sickness follows. A sniffle from patrol
can easily lead to sneezes, and to disease if ignored.
Difficult as it is, avoiding the cold as much as possible really
is the only way to avoid the bugs of winter. And - Starclan
forbid - if disease entered camp, continuing to avoid the
cold really will be needed for any recovery.
Nights are drawing in far more rapidly now, as are the prey.
Not all hibernate, of course, but it's obvious which ones do;
the few still out for cats to find are plump-looking, nearly
fat enough to last out until spring. Hunting will be far less
fruitful once the winter weather really sets in.

[ While on patrol, Solarspark, Briarsweep, Blossomfur, Aconite, and Thunderbird encounter an apprentice. Returning to camp, they spot the freshkill pile, alone and sad-looking. They think it's a great idea to have a big pile of food but... why's no one eating from it? They heard stomachs rumbling angrily the whole time they were walking back - why not eat when there's so much food right here? Starclan, it sounds like the Cosmoclan warriors haven't eaten at all in two moons. The apprentice refuses to take the food from the pile, believing it to be poisoned, and instead insists on hunting for themself (they will still deduct food from your stores) ]

Is it just that the sky is covered in masses of stars in every direction and the more prominent stars are easier to notice, are are those tiny stars being born as a cat slips away? ]

[ Goosewing lays patiently, waiting for Honeytuft's verdict, staring at the cave ceiling and wishing he could be done already. Honestly, it just looks like he's procrastinating by now, why can't he get on with it! But it becomes clear why he's delayed in just a moment, as he turns around slowly, and in a voice that's trying a little too hard to sound mournful, rather than grateful, tells her that she is not yet pregnant. Well... she'll just have to try again next moon, won't she? ]

Territory
6 cats trekked the border of HazelClan, sniffing any sign of cats. The youngest huffed. "Let's just go to their camp! We can track their scent!" He mewed. The leader rolled his eyes. "Shut up Custardpaw. We can't walk that far. Daisystar is still having problems." He mewed. The medicine cat perked up from beside the queen. "I think we'll be able to get to their camp. She can rest there, right? So she should be able to make it." The cat mewed. The leader nodded, but just then one of the warriors came sprinting back. "I just talked to Orvomask, the deputy of HazelClan. He's getting his patrol to escort us to camp." He said, huffing. A few moments later, said cat and a tabby, a grey cat and a brown apprentice appeared. "I'm Orvomask, deputy of of HazelClan, and this is Tigerhallow, Laceleaf and Mudpaw. You want to join us?" Daisystar pushed herself up and padded over. "I'm Daisystar, and my mate Aprésfoot used to rule OiseauClan. Due to the seasons, we have fallen and our clanmates, Sootcloud, our medicine cat, Gingerface and Ashencall, and our apprentice, Custardpaw are all that remain. Please let us join you." She begged. Orvomask nodded. "Our leader, Rosestar, will never drop the opportunity of new cats. Come, and we'll take you to camp."

Camp
Orvomask and the cats finally made it to camp. The Clan watched as a proud tom, a heavily pregnant she-cat, and their group push into camp. "Rosestar, these are the cats of OiseauClan, who wish to join us." Orvomask announced. Rosestar, also heavy with kits stood. "Welcome to HazelClan, you lot. I"m Rosestar, leader of our Clan. Introduce yourselves?" She asked. The proud tom stepped forward. "I'm Aprésfoot, and this is my mate," Aprésstar mewed, stepping back for his mate. "Daisysun." She supplied, glancing at him knowingly. A white tom stepped up too. "Gingerface." And the she-cat beside him said, "Ashenclaw." A black she-cat rolled her eyes. "Sootcloud, and this is Custardpaw." Rosestar nodded. A tom from beside her purred. "You'll make a great fit in our Clan. I'm Milo, Rosestar's mate. Would you like me to show you around?" He asked. The 6 nodded, and Milo stood. The Clan went back to it's hustle.

Tour
Milo walked over. "So, usually I help Rosestar decide where certain cats go. Daisysun, as a queen you'll join my mate and our other queen Skyleaf in the nursery. Aprésfoot and Gingerface, you'll do well as protectors, and Sootcloud and Ashenclaw, you'll prosper as Providers. Custardpaw, you'll join Dapplepaw, Mudpaw, Pinepaw and Creampaw as a roughpaw. Now, let me show you the dens." Milo mewed, catching the cats by surprise. He padded to a den under a tree. "This is the leader's den. Only go in if you HAVE to talk to me or Rosestar." Padding to a cave beside it, where a rock leaned against a tree, Milo waved his tail and called into it. A tom and she-cat poked their heads out. "Everyone, this is Riverdancer and Tawnypaw. They are the healers for HazelClan. Go to them if your sick or injured." He mewed. The healers gave a mew of hello and popped back inside their cave. Sootcloud piped up, "I used to be our Clan's medicine cat." Milo looked impressed. "Good thing your gonna be a Provider. You can help with gathering herbs. Anyways, the den towards the entrance over there," Milo said, pointing to the opposite side of camp, "Is the Protector den. Aprésfoot, you and Gingerface will be joining Orvomask, Tigerhallow, Slatesun, Oliveblossom, Shadedstag, Whitefox and Laceleaf." He explained. then pointing to the den beside it. "And there is the Provider den, where you, Sootcloud, and Ashenclaw, will join me, Mintwave and Sootstream."
Custardpaw pouted. "What about me?" He asked. Milo laughed. "Your den is beside the big thorny den, which is the nursery. See the space between it and the meeting tree? That's your den. Dapplepaw! Get your den mates over here!" Milo called. Three cats about Custardpaw's size skidded over. "Yes, Milo?" The two toms chorused. "This is Custardpaw, your new denmate." He said. The larger of the three hopped about. "Yes!! Cool! I'm Pinepaw, and these are my siblings, Mudpaw and Creampaw. Creampaw can't talk so be nice to her!" He introduced. Custardpaw smiled. "Cool! My sister was mute too, so I understand." He purred. He looked at Milo. "Can I join them?" He asked. Custardpaw got a nod in reply and bounded off.

Great echoes of ancestors long past sound deep within Nightingalestar's ears as she steps up to the crest of the hill and looks below. The night is frigid and auspicious and Nightingalesar's short fur does little to defend against the cold, but necessity made the visit a requirement, lest her clan end just as soon as it began. Carefully, the jet black she-cat leapt down into the stone hollow, where she could see the angular half moon glimmer upon the surface of the still, inky water. Even despite the water that dived headlong into the pool from a cleft in the rock just opposite of Nightingalestar, the pool was just as calm as ever, and it's serene surface drew the broad-faced she-cat closer. Her wide yellow eyes ripped through the darkness and her paws, tough and hard from many moons of dark times spent in tunnels and caves, walked along the narrow path that cats eons before her had walked once before. She reached a small beach, where she could stretch out her neck and let the water lap gently at her nose. Nightingalestar did so readily, even despite her doubt in the power of the stars.

"StarClan," came the she-cat rough mew, and a certain sense of mockery slipped unwillingly into her voice. "I have suffered long enough at your paws. I ran from your cruel machinations, and here you are to mock me once more. As long as you might be a permanent fixture in my life, I must ask one favor, one thing that may finally go right for me. Please, I require a deputy. Do not make me go back."

[ As Nightengalestar padded back to her camp, spitefully musing how Starclan wouldn't even grace her with an answer, she heard someone calling her name. Surprised, she perked up and saw a cat hurrying to meet her. In a rush of breath, they explained to her how they'd received a sign from Starclan and how they were sent to be her deputy and how their sibling, a potential warrior, was willing to join the clan and-- Nightengalestar had to tell them to be quiet and that she would accept them into her clan.
