"They are not kits of our kind!" Pepperstar said, her voice loud and strong. "Listen to me. Without their mother, they will suffer and die a long, painful death. You wouldn't want that; I know that you wouldn't. I don't want to kill the kits either, but they could very well be threats to our clan; any threat must be known so we can be alert." She said slowly, making sure her words were heard and understood.

Raccoontail nodded. "My thoughts exactly. A quick death from us would be mercy compared to starving to death. It's for the best" He meowed to Foxpaw, his voice low

Foxpaw nodded, glancing at the badger. "Since it's a threat, I guess it should be killed." she said quietly. If it's a threat, it should be killed. she kept repeating in her head The badger deserves to die. It's for the best!

Raccoontail looked at Pepperstar. "Want me to find the cubs?" He asked quiettly. He didn't like killing the young ones anymore than Foxpaw but he would do it.

Pepperstar let out a sigh of relief. She was pleased with the fact that Foxpaw had finally accepted what they were going to have to do. "Thank you for understanding." She meowed, smiling ever so slightly. She then looked at Crowflight and Raccoontail. "I can trust the two of you to take care of this badger and the badger kits, right? I really should go check up on everyone at camp; I would feel completely awful if I didn't." She meowed, looking at the two warriors hopefully.

Raccoontail dipped his head. "Of course' He meowed. He liked Crowflight and he would choose no other warrior to come with him.

Tangletail follwed the raised yowls and scent of blood, when he saw Marshpaw and Silversong come into camp with Sunpaw like she was he couldn't bear it. He shook his head and pushed through the ferns, a mass of coarse fur rose up to meet his vision. The tom felt his claws slide from their sheaths, "badger" he hissed stalking up to his clanmates and leader his dark tabby tail lashing back and forth. he looked back he had brought Ashpaw with him once he had found the apprentice, and he beckoned him forward to his side. The last bit of what they had been talking about reached his ears "Pepperstar you can't be thinking of sparing this, this beast's life" he said his voice coated with venom and hurt.

Marshpaw nuzzled Sunpaw and quickly laid down around her curling himself into her, "you need to sleep" he said softly, and licked the young she-cat's ear in slow rasping motions. Her breaths were harsh and gasping, he curled closer to her and continued licking her ear in a gentle rythmic motion in an attempt to calm her seemingly shaking heart.

Raccoontail shook his head. "No Tangletail. We have decided to kill it, and then me and Crowflight are to track down it's kits and kill them." He explained

Pepperstar nodded her head. "Everything that Raccoontail said is true. We cannot spare it's life, nor it's kits. It could be of great danger to our clan. It could tell its other badger kin about our location and..." She trailed off, her tail drooping. "You know what could happen then." She said finally in a dark tone.

Foxpaw growled quietly at Tangletail's comment. He doesn't understand either, he just wants it dead. she thought, glaring at him. "I know where the kits are." Foxpaw said, tightly. She didn't want the kits to die, but it's was for the good of the clan. They're a threat, they deserve to die, it's for the best.
