Though he's not known for being the life of the party due to his cynical outlook, Sage is a sweet guy. Sensitive and mellow, he's good at reading the vibe and can get along with most people. Though he associates with many people, Sage prefers to have a small, tight-knit circle of friends that he can share his feelings with. Being affectionate, he enjoys showering those he cares about in hugs (and kisses, if they're so inclined). He'll sacrifice a lot for his friends, even if they're undeserving of it. It's not uncommon to see Sage being dragged somewhere that he's not interested in going, simply because a confidant wanted him to come along. Once one gets close to Sage, it's easy to manipulate him due to how quickly he gets attached. It isn't like he doesn't know he's being used, he just chooses to ignore it for the sake of peace. He's willing to take the lead in tricky situations and will put his foot down if need be, but he's insecure in his own abilities and will often be reproachful of his decisions. Practical and meticulous in his decision making, he has his feet planted on the ground, but Sage requires a lot of emotional support to work effectively. He's often plagued by feelings of not being good enough, and there are times when his aggressively critical inner voice can make him emotional and distressed.

Sage was raised by his mother, his father having died of cancer when he was younger. His family never had a lot of money, so they were often moving from house to house, struggling to keep a place. Sage never did have many friends, the constant moving keeping him from forming any worthwhile connections with anyone aside from his brothers. He works part time at an ice cream shop to help his mother take care of the bills. So far, he's been considered the gifted kid of his family, his talent for the piano taking him places that he'd never dreamed of going.
