In a Savannah such as this water was a coveted resource, its sources considered a 'neutral ground' between both predator and prey. None would dare attack one another in a setting such as this, lest they risk serious harm or being chased off the next time they were in need of a drink of some sort. And so, it was with this in mind that Umkohu currently kept herself submerged in the water, her head just barely peeking above, much akin to the basking habits of hippos. It wasn't unheard of for black rhinos such as herself to do this, and, given the current temperature, she found a fair amount of relief in such a simple pleasure as keeping cool. She knew that crocodiles, on occasion, could be found in watering holes such as this, but, having never encountered one, she settled for simply staying close to the shore.

How long she had been in there she couldn't say, but she had seen several other animals come and go already. A fair majority of these were prey animals such as herself - gazelles, zebras, and so on so forth. Going an entire day neither seeing nor smelling hide nor hair of a predator would have made her day, but, unfortunately, Umkohu was not of the particularly lucky persuasion, erring more along the side of 'unfortunate' in a fair majority of situations. As such, it couldn't be called a pleasantry nor a surprise when a canine of some sort - she could never be bothered to remember the varieties, as they were all equally terrible to her - came up to the watering hole, covered from head to toe in filth. Her instincts screamed to chase off the ratty little pest, but, at the same time, being truly comfortable such as she had been was a rarity... Maybe, just this once, she could afford to be a little lax in her intimidation. After all, hippos managed to do such things perfectly, didn't they?

Umkohu doesn't have to lift her head much further to speak, but she does take advantage of what movement she does need to bring her two horns into clear view. "You. Dog."

When she reached the rock, she saw a dark figure in the distance. Curious like always, she went back down, and padded over to the figure. She recognized it as a cheetah, who was eating a gazelle. She sat down, and said to them, "Hello, what is your name?"

Kamali nearly jumped straight into the air when he heard a voice. He thought he'd been paying attention, but it turned out that he'd been a little too focused on his meal. He glanced over his shoulder to see what he was dealing with and relaxed when he saw it was just a lion cub. Kamali turned around and sat down facing it. "The name's Kamali, you?" He said in his raspy voice, his ear flicking towards it.

Okami yawned, her jaw gaping and her teeth glinting in the light that reached her branch. Her black coat looked glossy as the sun reflected off of it. The leaves that clung to the branches above cast shadows over the panther, dappling the branch she lay on. Okami got to her paws, stretching her front legs, her back arching luxuriously. She felt her belly rumble and grunted in annoyance. She slid down the trunk of the tree, landing gracefully on four paws. Okami pushed her way through the growth, making sure to stay as silent as possible. She knew that other things lurked in the rainforest; things that could bring even herself down. She was in the middle of a stride when a warm, mouth-watering scent touched her nose; boar! Boar were pretty common in the rainforest, and provided a cat Okami's size a decent meal. She hadn't eaten in days, so if she caught this, she would finally have the food she needed to last her another week or two. She pinpointed her prey, her eyes alert and locked on the trembling reeds. She wiggled her hindquarters and pounced, gripping the pig with her long, dangerous claws. She bit down on its throat until she felt it fall limp, and licked her lips. Her pounce had made a ruckus, and she prayed that nobody else had heard. If another predator found her with this juicy hog, it would be stolen from her and she would have to find something else. As she was ripping a chunk of flesh off of the pig, she heard a bone-chilling roar. Tigers! Her mind screamed as she tried to think of what to do. A tiger would surely take her prize. So Okami got to her paws and peeked through the growth, her ear flicking. A large tiger, likely male, stood outside a den entrance, a look of anger and annoyance painted across his face. She didn't flinch as he roared again, but instead, slid out from her spot to allow the brute to eye her. She made sure to bury her prey first though. Maybe if she apologized for whatever he was angry about, he would leave her alone.

The young male stretched peacefully out beneath his acacia tree, where he preferred to reside on hot days like this one. The sun beat down hard on the dry climate, making the danger of a fire quite high. Crickets and cicadas chirped and buzzed their annoying song while flies swarmed around small clutters of dung. Atum snorted angrily as he flicked his tail, flies scattering through the air. Tired of being bombarded by the tiny creatures, the lion got to his paws, shaking the dirt from his still-growing mane. He trotted across the grassy plain for some while until he came upon a small lion pride, consisting of a few adults and some cubs. He settled down in the brush, his paws stretched out before him. Atum came here often, usually admiring the strong brute who led the pack of fierce predators. He was about to turn around and head back when something caught his eye. Perched on a rock was a young lioness, most likely younger than Atum. She had a wild look in her eyes as she leapt down from the rock. Atum swiveled his gaze to focus on the lioness. His hackles rose as he watched her approach a lone cheetah. If the spotted cat dared lay a claw on his kind, he would rip the animals throat out and leave its body for the vultures. But Atum sighed in relief as the cheetah replied in what looked like a friendly manner, although you can never know when watching from a distance.

"Kamali..." she said, trying the name out. "I'm Sunday. I'm from that pride over...." she looked around the area of the Savannah trying to find where they were. On her left in the distance she saw the pride and said indicating with her paw, "Aha. Over there!" She looked at him and said, "Well maybe when you're done with your meal, you'd like to play?" she swished her tail happily.

"Well it's nice to meet you Sunday." Kamali said, following her paw as she showed him where her pride was. "Ah, yes, I'd love to play. Speaking of this meal here, I'm a bit full. Would you like to finish it? If not I'll bury it for later or you can bring it back to your pride. Either way, I won't mind." He replied, watching the bushy end of her thin tail swish back and forth, a sign of playfulness and happiness.

candy walked well, more like waddled across the savannah. she stopped to graze a few times and drank from the pond. the flies were all over her. irritated, she nipped at her belly and whipped her tail. "I just don't understand, why do I have to be the victim of these flies." she thought to herself. she swung her tail and it smacked her belly. then she felt her baby kick, it was a little painful but nothing that would kill her. she knew that in a month she would have a little one running around. she smiled and grazed.

The small mammal scuttled through the thick green underbrush of the jungle, hopping over uneven ground and snaking under fallen logs, her tail waving excitedly behind her. She had been chasing a rather large flying insect for some time now- she was hungry, very hungry for that matter, and had her eyes on the prize. In her rush, however, she had been unaware the amount of noise she was making. Ripping through leaves, scratching across the leaf-covered ground, goodness, it must have sounded like a herd of elephants was trampling along.

Not wanting to attract predators, she pounced forward onto the insect, holding it tightly between her sharp teeth before scurrying up the thick trunk of a tree, hiding within the wide, waxy leaves that provided her with some amount of cover. Quickly making a meal of the bug, she licked over her whiskers and nose and glanced down through the canopy, watching out for whatever might be lurking on the forest floor.
