I have a few small ideas I've been thinking of, but there's no need to take any of these seriously~ They are just some things I was thinking might be nice to see.

- There hasn't been a custom design contest in a while. I can't remember if those were stopped for a reason, or replaced by the MYO raffles. I think it would be cool to see another contest where the chosen designs are allowed to be made into actual viscet customs ^^

- Another option could be something like the above, but for non-owners only. Or, to make it fairer to those without much experience in designing, it could be something kind of like this with only a select few chosen. I think it would be really interesting to see something like that go on maybe once a year to invite new members into the community ^^

- Lastly, maybe there could be some new potions for the hatchery. One could be a kind of rare potion only given in bundles occasionally that allows the parent's traits to have a chance to pass down in the hatchery as if it were a nursery batch.

As for mutations:
Water Mane, flowy, swirling mine, slightly transparent.
Gills (Maybe bundled with another fishy trait, as it seems kinda small)
Add-on to scale trait: Scale patches. Like a fish.
Multiple ears, four ears? (Halloween event?)
Straw horns (Christmas event.) Like the horns on a Swedish goat.

i come forth with some ideas

curly fur: we have mane mutations, we have lion manes, we have long fur and feathered paws, but we don’t get have curly body fur. of course, both minor and major manes can and are curly, but I think it would be beat to have another fur type trait. for this, i would think it to be a more of a messy-wavy type curl, not to go as far as lamb curl, but more so like the look of this dog’s fur. to achive this, i think the lines ould just be altered to show a slightly longer, wavy fur. some added messy curls here and there would give off the effect just nicely without too much linework being needed. i find this trait could be useful to those who just want more diverse looks to their viscets while still keeping it to the very basic and realistic side of traits. now you might be thinking: but prophecy!!! viscets have feathers!!! behold. curly geese. there is a goose called the sebastopol goose that has feathers of a messy sort of wavy look.


to comment on other’s ideas

a “draw the viscet above you” thread would be nice. i could see where there might be potential rule breaking though; there would have to be requirements to make it fair, such as everone has to do a fullbody color so that someone who spends time doing a fullbody piece doesn’t get frustrated by only getting a 0-effort second uncolored headshot sketch in return. with some firm rules everyone has to go by, i see that being a really fun way to give art to people and have motivation to draw while getting art in return as a reward

i also think multiple ears would be cool. it would make a nice roaming trait, but then again also would look wicked awesome with the four/six eyes mutation, so maybe it could be like the feather-paw/hooves situation where the two roaming traits are compatible. that, the full event rare mutation could be four ears + two extra front arms or a tail split into two at the end. (where it starts off as one tail but at the end splits down into two).

i think a water mane would be cool, as we have a fire mane and an “air” type of mane, but i find it might be too similar to just goop mane with the ice mane look. there would almost need to be a way to make it look more unique than just a combination of two existing traits. maybe there could be an option for either a few goldfish or mini shark in the mane with no further customization options other than change of the fish color to limit the amount of options the trait has. if there could be any species of fish in the mane, I predict it would get overbred by people quicker than if it had limited options. gills could potentially work as a combination with this trait, but more than likely just no gills altogether considering the aquatic legendary has gills already. it could work very well the the scales patches, which would probably be anywhere the artist desires to draw them. it would work well as just a fish like trait with the fishbowl/water mane and scales + potentially gills. with all this it honestly sounds extremely cool and i would love to see this wether it is a new event rare or another water-like legendary trait. I definitely see all three traits, or at least just the scales and mane, being very good together. i am sure it would end up being a very popular and adorable trait.

So the custom design contest we haven't done in a long time because it was replaced by the raffles. And because it didn't really go over that well. The first one (#50) which I won, it wasn't very clear whether the entries you made would become official viscets until afterwards when Soul told me it didn't have to be either of the two I made and also told me I didn't have to use it immediately. Things weren't as smoothed out as they are now. So it might be something we could consider but I'm not sure how well it'd do even now since a lot of people after winning or purchasing their tickets need some time to determine what they want. This isn't all, of course, but just an observation that it seems like not everyone has ideas for customs planned when these comps might come out. c:

Now non-owner only to the above might be a good idea, this is pending that COPPA'd users could also take part in that (which I think the oekaki forms they can as far as colormeins go and whatnot). So that's something to consider as well.

On the potion for the hatchery;; I can see where you're coming from with this one and so long as it was a rarer potion then I can see it working but we wouldn't want it to be as uncommon as definite trait potions are now. And my only reason for this is that it's more freeing for the artists to do the hatchery than the nursery in part because of not having to replicate some parents more difficult traits. Also a potion like this wouldn't be able to include legendary or regular event rares (tho roaming, rare and uncommon would all be fine if we did make this potion).

I actually thought about doing a Draw the Viscet above you thread before but I'm not sure how much activity we'd get. I'd like to think it'd be a nice way for individuals to give and get art of their viscets but I also know there's a lot of viscets that would be difficult for even me to replicate in a drawing. So that's part of why I'm hesitant but it's definitely something I've been considering. Now it would be equal exchange sort of deal tho, for example;; the user beneath you may not follow your request but if you were to request fullbody art then you'd be required to make full body art for the person above you (unless specified otherwise). This would just be to even things out a bit. Also I'd probably message Vesinir to ask if they would be alright with a Viscet spin-off of that thread because while the original was by our Soul, I do want to make sure there's no issues with that as well. c:

The Water Mane idea has been brought up a couple times before, but as ~Prophecy~ replied it would look a bit too similar to the Goop. Which is really why we haven't done it even though it's a cool idea. We don't want organisms living within the mane or body which is why we couldn't as real fish / etc;; we've turned down glass/aquarium/etc like ideas too because it would be more difficult to work with on our lines.

Gills actually do exist on the Aquatic Legendary and it part of it's unique set. So we likely won't be adding that as an option in another set because it's already a part of that legendary. c:

We have a lot of scaley-fish designs though that seem to do fine even without that. And the Mystic Ancestor actually has small scales on it (specifically it's legs) which is worth noting but we'll definitely consider it!

Multiple ears;; We've actually been considering this one for years. We've had other mutations we've utilized instead though which is why they just haven't happened yet. It's really going to depend on how we work the compatibility as to what it will be compatible with. Likely it won't be compatible with another roaming trait (even though I agree, ~Prophecy~, it would look really cool) but if we don't allow for it to be compatible with any roaming traits then doing as ~Prophecy~ suggested with pairing it with another cool mutation instead and making it a normal event rare would be awesome as well.

Straw horns, I'm not sure I understand exactly? But when googling it came up with a goat made of straw so I guess that's what you're referring to. I'm not sure if that would be quite special enough for an event rare trait, but it's cute idea for horns. But I think it'd make a better accessory that was put around an actual viscet's horns tbh;;

Curly "fur";; this is such a cute concept, I really like it tbh. I don't know if this would work as a regular mutation though. Since it effects the regular base entirely (minus mane) it probably would have to be an actual event rare trait. But I do love this concept, we may very likely be looking into this one. Not sure where we'd fit it in (though tbh it'd make an adorable Spring Event trait imo).

Also wanted to comment that I appreciate your comments on others suggestions too. It helps seeing others opinions on the matter to help give us directions to go in and consider as well. I will mention though that the extra limbs suggestion; we probably won't ever go with. And that's only because it's not a lot of space on our canvas for it (and it also makes several individuals amongst our staff and community a lil uncomfortable because of the nature of it). But that aside, I could see the double ears being paired with another mutation instead of being a roaming trait as well, it'd make a pretty cool one tbh.

Anyone else feel free to comment on the current suggestions as well;; Keep those suggestions and ideas coming! I'm really loving seeing what you guys are coming up with. And adding in how you think they might be applied, etc, is welcomed. <3

a solution to this is to not link one viscet, but make people who have them link three or more so people have a variety of designs to choose from. for people who dont have 3+ viscets they could link just their two or one, but if it is a really complicated ‘cet. and noone claims in a while it should be acceptable to simplify the design down.

i definitely think this could be a very versatile roaming or regular-rare trait. it could be a very free sort of trait like mane mutations, but maybe something along the sorts that no scales cannot cover more than 40% of the body or that they cannot be shaped in in appropriate ways, obviously. i think it could be a trait where, like the mystic ancestor, can be on the legs, but may also be pretty much anywhere else on the body. i think, like the round scale trait, it could be a bit changeable in the way that artists can draw the scales very pointy and sharp or fat and round. something that could also work, instead of just textured lines, the scales can be a shiny iridescent sort of thing where they are filled colored separately from the body with 1-3 colors and generally have the same color pattern all over. just an idea, i see where that could potentially get limiting.

pairing it with another cool mutation instead and making it a normal event rare would be awesome as well.

there are many options you could decide for another portion to a four-ears trait. whether it is a split tail or what i am thinking would be really cool, is if in between the head and back crests, sort of on the neck, there is a dinosour frill splitting those two in half, i can draw out my idea later if you are having trouble visualizating it. but yeah, since dinosaurs viscets ya know. basically like the very center part of a crest like this in between the fur. plus adding spikes in the actual fur crest part and tail puff itself would work well as an accent to that since the crest is kinda small. if not paired with the four ears, i think the frill could be on its own if wanted to as an event rare trait, and that would look really cool paired with potential raptor claws, which would make a great roaming trait. ;)

i also agree with the fact that curly fur is better as an event rare; would make a nice spring or summer variation to winter’s long fur.

Hopping on this to add alternative suggestion; variations of double coat event rare? :0 Regular, curly, etc?

@mareep: do you mean having a regular curly-coat and also a curly double coat? if there is a curly double coat, it should be a completely different trait than regular double coat as to not be difficult or confusing with breedings. i feel as if it would be best to just have one type of curly coat though, as artists who have to draw it might end up accidentally leaving little distinction between regular and long, so probably just a regular curly coat would be best?

more ideas for legendary ‘cets, inspired by the color changing legendary

markings or colors that change during dawn and dusk, so basically they have a day coat and a night coat. pretty much only minimal changes to the design, if any, and a darker pallet for night.

colors that change based on season, so they have coat that changes its color pallet (but not markings) to match the season of summer/spring/fall/winter coat.

design suggestions
“its not what it seems” really fluffy adorable or cutesy designs that have sort of a deeper meaning behind them

“safari pop” theme week where each artist makes a design based off their favorite safari animal and favorite color(s)

“viscet cafe” theme week where artists make designs based off their favorite food or dessert

“cool drinks for summer" or however you would word that. pretty much just cold drinks you can drink in summer type designs (grape soda, strawberry milkshake, cucumber lemonade)

Or, if we have too many tail mouths, a Chimera legendary!
Full head lion mane(Kinda a mix between lion mane and minor mane edit)

A special pair of goat horns and a little goat beard

eep what about rabbit teeth for a trait? as either uncommon or rare probably.
just little rabbit incisors!!
since viscets have a closed mouth there could be a small uncolored picture off to the left that shows the viscet's teeth!!
could be a semi-realistic trait developed by ‘cets that had a diet filled with mostly plants/fruits/veggies.
