Backstory
The twins were born into a frequently moving family, and so they were never able to settle down in one area and make friends. But they had each other, and that was enough. A many years ago, their parents went on a trip and left them with their grandparents. That trip must have lasted eternity, for they never saw their mother and father again. But now that they were living in the sunny little beach town with their grandparents, they could make new friends without worrying about leaving them the next month. And so, their future laid in this town. Now, they prepare for college in the coming years. Tart wants to major in surgery, and Pina in Law. Their parents would be so proud if they could see the twins now.
Short story- Just Another morning.
Tart's POV
The sound of a hair dryer woke up Sammy with a jolt. When he looked at the time on the clock, he thought "Who blow dries their hair at 5:30 in the morning during spring break?!" It was then that he noticed the date on his clock; It was the Monday after break, and he had to go to school! He got up, the wooden floorboards creaking below him as he made his way to the joint bathroom he shared with Lanie. "My turn. Out." He ushered her with his hand into their room so he could shower. She made a grunt and unplugged the dryer, moving it to the outlet by her bed. By the time they were both ready, their grandmother was also up and had began making eggs and toast downstairs. He could smell salty breeze floating in through the open window, and longed for a longer spring break. But he'd have to wait until summer. Breakfast was great, as always, and the twins ate it without saying a word. Pina had in her earbuds, so it'd be useless to try to make conversation. They sat on the bench outside of the front porch until even Lanie, with her earbuds still in, could hear the creaking of the bus's old wheels pull up on the street. They both sighed and walked towards it, saying nothing because they already knew what each other were thinking. I don't want to go to school.
Pina's POV
Lanie's clock flashed 5:14 when she had a yawn and put her feet on the cold wood floors. She knew she was the first one up, but the excitement to see her friends was enough to get her moving. Though she didn't have too many, those friends she did have were very close to her and after not seeing them for a week, she was ready for school to start again. Tiptoeing across the floor and trying not to make a sound, she went to the bathroom and turned on the shower. After she was cleaned, she got out her dryer and began blow drying her fur and combing it. She knew this would wake up Sammy, but it was confirmed when he forced her out of the bathroom and made her use an outlet near her bed. She found a comfy jacket to bear against the cool breeze and stepped outside, taking in the cold air. She was listening to her favorite song, a classic from the late 80's. Her grandmother had prepared a wonderful breakfast of eggs and toast, and they ate in silence. She could tell by the look in her brother's eyes that they were thinking the same thing as they got on the bus. I'm so excited for school!
