Liberty sat up and looked around. She seemed to be in some sort of forest, surrounded by trees. She got up and yawned, her jaws so wide she looked like a snake. Liberty took a step forward and jolted. She felt... Could it be?
Grass? She looked down and sniffed the vegetation. It
was grass! She smiled warmly. Her muscles were sore, it felt weird to walk; after all, she
had been asleep for thousands- maybe
millions of years, after being defeated in the "Great War". She continued to take in her surroundings, and noticed very quickly that things had changed since she was last awake. The sky, the grass, the trees- she was even missing her
wings.
Huh, she thought.
I guess they didn't make it through the battle with me, she thought, chuckling quietly to herself. She was still shocked by the change in scenery since she had taken her last breath, her last glimpse of the earth before meeting her fate.
Well, what did you expect? She thought to herself.
That there would still be an ongoing war? That the grass would still be spattered with the blood of warriors and of the innocent? That the trees and grass would still be ink-black? That the flowers would still be wilted and brown? She plucked a dahlia and smelled it; the flowers no longer smelled like sorrow and filth, but rather like joy and sweet nectar, like a new beginning. She smiled to herself.
Things have changed, she thought, pausing,
I guess I'll just have to get used to it. And with that, she turned and sauntered into the depths of the forest.
