"Hello, I am Sunpaw and I love all things athletic! I am a fun loving and open girl who just loves competition. I have been told that winning isn't everything but I just have a drive to win and win and win! I have always loved running around and doing chaotic things which have gotten me into trouble sometimes. But it is fun and the adults don't punish me too much for it, its probably because of this face."

"Moonpaw? Him, I mean he is okay... he has been my biggest rival ever since we could crawl." she shrugs, her eyes flashing with some anger and motivation as she spoke. "Everytime we train it goes back and forth on whether he wins or I do, though i think he cheats sometimes. I should be better than him. He is so bad at swimming I think I once saw a tadpole grow up before he even made it across the river! I will give it to him for climbing though it takes guts to let your paws leave the ground, doesn’t mean I don’t face that fear just to beat him. "

My biggest accomplishment is surviving the dog fight. Many warriors fell along with our clan, but Moonpaw and I were able to put aside our differences for long enough to fight side by side.

My biggest Regret... always making it a competition with Moonpaw. While our mothers didn’t notice it at first I think they grew sad that we always fought. They were so close that they wanted us to be too, but I just couldn’t put aside my pride to do it... neither could he.

"Twinstar is a strong leader. She seems to always be thinking one step ahead. But she is always looking at me watching me... I don’t know why but it is a little creepy at times.

"She is literally the best! Strong and brave she doesn’t take crap from anyone! I heard she fought a fox and that is something not done easily. I hope she will be my mentor but I gotta probe myself worthy first.”

"How could she let her injury stop her from becoming leader. I mean she can walk and fight okay, I would have fought for the right. She also seems to be watching me, but with dislike than what Twinstar watches me with.”

"He is weak. He is a grown cat who can’t fight because he was a kittypet. I know he is Bellroses brother but I just can’t get past it. He must fight to protect the clan, heck he is larger than all the felines here.”

"It isn’t my place but I have a bad feeling about Dawnflame. I heard she was the old deputy before Bellrose and I have noticed the looks she throws Bellerose when no one is looking.”

"If Bellerose doesn’t mentor me I hope that’s Flickerheart does. Just like the deputy she is strong and brave, she even has the scar to prove it. She is more emotional than Bellerose and I don’t know if our personalities would work or good. But I feel I could learn a lot from her.

"I haven’t really interacted with a Cactusflight. He is a little too.. out there for me. I do enjoy his made up tales though. They can be pretty funny.”

"Oh, I didn't see you there. I'm Moonpaw, I love to climb trees and see all the amazing things out here! I also enjoy competition, unless I'm the loser, then I get nasty. I believe that if you aren't trying your best and winning, you must be doing something wrong or not trying hard enough! I'm very passionate in things that I do, and I love to be the center of attention. Some others would describe me as hard-headed and stubborn, but I think I'm just strong and competitive."

"Pft, Sunpaw? We've been competing with one another since we opened our eyes. When we train, she's so convinced I'm cheating! I think she's just in denial. Although I will give her credit, she's pretty good at swimming. But she's utterly pathetic when it comes to tree climbing!"

"My biggest accomplishment? Oh, most definitely surviving the dog fight. Have you seen how massive one of those things is?! It's a dang miracle that I survived, and that Sunpaw did too, they could've swallowed us whole!

"I.. truly do regret jumping in to the dog fight with the intent of just being better than my friend. I wasn't thinking about the survival of the clan, I was only thinking about my own desire to beat her at yet another thing, I wish I had been thinking about my clan more. Perhaps.. perhaps more of them would've survived."

Amberstar
"She's awesome! She was so chill when I joined the clan, it was incredible. I imagined
my new clan leader to be scary, but she was really nice. She jokes around a ton and
sometimes we race, and I definitely win every time.

Aspencloud
"He's.. odd. He always touches my chin with his tail, and it tickles a ton! But he's very
funny and nice to me too. He was supposed to be my mentor, but Heatherpool decided
it would be better if I were mentored by her."

Willowsong
"I felt really bad for her when I first joined the clan. She always seemed so worried, so
panicky.. But then this other cat came along, and she was fine. She does ask too many
questions though, like, just do your thing and it'll be fine!"

Rosethorn
"She's weird! She's always in her own den, mumbling to herself about prophecies she's
overseeing and how she should "atone for her sins". Like, what did she even do?! I've
heard it was something with Willowsong, but I'm too scared to ask her about it."

Heatherpool
"My mentor? Oh, she's tons of fun! She always comes up with the most interesting
training exercises, and surprisingly, they're actually kind of difficult for me to do, but
don't tell her I said that, she thinks that I think everything is easy!"

Doepaw
"Oh, she's my training partner, since Heatherpool mentors both of us! Doepaw is very
nice though, she always offers to do stuff for me when I'm down, but I think she's too
shy for my liking! I think she needs to be more assertive, especially since she's training
to be a warrior!"

Brindleleaf
"I uh.. I don't know much about him, he really only talks to Aspencloud most of the time.
I think he's just kinda shy like Doepaw, although Doepaw actually talks to people, Brindle
just kinda.. avoids everyone. It's kinda weird, but I don't have an opinion on him."

Sundrop
"She's very hesitant, and I hate it! I hate it because I actually feel bad for her. I kinda
hoped she would've been my mentor, though. We would've had so much fun together, and
maybe she wouldn't be so sad all the time! She looks like she hates being her, but I know
she doesn't."

The sun was awakening from it's slumber beneath the horizon, slowly raising upward into the sky. The light upon the camp was next to nothing, the den only dimly lit. Two queens lay in two moss beds, pressed closely together. One of the she-cats was a silver tabby, with vibrant golden eyes that challenged even the sun with their vibrant nature. They were soft, locked on the queen before her. The other queen was a golden spotted tabby, the color of her fur pale enough to be considered a light shade of cream. They were glancing down at each other's bellies, where one kit lay beside the both of them, nestled into their flanks for warmth.

"He is beautiful." The cream queen whispered, eyeing the kit at her friend's stomach. The kit was in a deep slumber, or so the queen thought. He had short, sleek fur, and a smudged marble pattern for his pelt. His eyes, hidden beneath his eyelids, were golden, identical to his mother's. The silver queen smiled at the comment, her eyes drifting down to the kit at her friend's stomach.

"Yours is too. I think she's about to wake up." The silver queen continued, leaning her head down cautiously to look at the kit at eye level. When the kit opened her eyes, the queen was met with vibrant blue eyes, and a small grin rested across her muzzle. "Her eyes are gorgeous, you know. Just look at her.. I hope these two will got along as well as we do." The silver queen added before she sat up, looking down at the kit at her belly, who's slumber had been disrupted.

His name was Moonkit, and her name was Sunkit. At this point, both kits had awaken, but remained laying down as to not receive another grooming from their mothers. Moonkit opened his eyes, freezing up when he saw Sunkit's blue eyes. Instantly, he felt the spark of rivalry kick back into motion. They locked eyes with one another, their eyes slowly narrowing as the staring contest continued. Even in silence, they would challenge one another, over the simplest of things. Moonkit knew he was better, and Sunkit knew she herself was better. The two kids were headbutting constantly, and when their queens were around, it would continue through glares directed towards one another.

The season was perfect for the newly named apprentices, long days and short nights allowed for countless hours of training. Moonpaw and Sunlaws mentors were proud of their apprentices and to according to their mothers training them together would be good. So the mentors agreed.

The sun was bright in the sky, warmth radiating through pelts as it reflected off the water. Sunpaw and Moonpaw were assigned fishing for training and while Sunpaw was excited, her counterpart was not. Moonlaw did not like the water and while he would tolerate it when he had to he preferred not. Sunpaw was the opposite she loved anything water related, her resistant pelt seemingly made for the cool liquid. “Come on Moonpaw, you aren’t afraid of a little water are you!?” She called out her voice taunting as she padded gently into the deeper water. Moonpaw glowered at the female as she floated leisurely waiting for him to join her. With a deep breath he finally joined her. After a lot of misses and a few successes the two compared their catches Sunpaw coming out on top as she held a fish almost the size of her.



A new day came and while it was a little too chilly for water Sunpaw and Moonpaws mentors decided to teach them how to climb trees. Climbing was Moonpaws forte while Sunpaw would prefer to keep her paws on the ground, but she knew she had to try and show him up. “Come on Sunpaw can’t you go any higher?” He taunted as his paws once again hit the ground a new notch in his tree a few hairs higher than his old mark. Sunpaw grumbled as she looked at her tree, “not my thing.” She grumbled to herself. Taking in a deep breath she ran at her tree, digging her claws in as she tried to go higher and higher. Before gravity grabbed her she sliced a scar into the tree as she flipped in the air to land. No matter how hard she tried she could not get as high as Moonpaw.

Never before had the sky turned such a variety of colors, to Sunpaw it was exhilarating, her fur standing on end as she sat outside the apprentice den, bracing herself for a beautiful storm. Moonpaw not so much, the young grey tabby hoping to find solace inside of the apprentice den as one more boom if thunder sounded. Between booms a different sound flew through her ears, was it... howling?

Shadows crept on the outside of camp, large black figures waiting for the best opportunity to strike and when the thunderstorm began so did they. Creature after creature emerged, chaos ensuing as they did. One word echoed through the noise, “DOG!” Sunpaw eyes widened as she got her first real glimpse of the creature, the dogs were much larger than she thought, spit dripping from their tail long fangs as she watched one pounce on top of the deputy. Swallowing her yowl she turned towards the apprentice den and yelled inside, “Dogs! We are being attacked!” She cried out. Moonpaw’s eyes burst open as he hears his rival cry out, yellow eyes meet blue before the familiar golden pelt disappears. Jumping to his paws Moonpaw puts on a battle face, knowing that he can’t let Sunpaw be the only one brave enough to fight. Though both apprentices felt fear weighing in their hearts.



One by one cats began to fall, warriors gave their lives trying to protect kits and queens. Two figures continued to battle, doing their best with as little experience as they had. Moonpaw and Sunpaw could feel their energy draining but they persisted until the two backed up into each other. The rivals exchanged a glance one that said “just this once”. The duo began working as a team, their backs or tails always touching as they began to try and make their way away from camp. Retreat had been called long ago, the dying call of their leader on his last life before it too was snuffed out. Their clan was gone it was up to them to survive even if it meant working together to do it.

After battling dogs proved to be futile, the two friends fled, finally taking their leader's retreat order. The two of them ran, ducking beneath bushes and leaping over rocks to hopefully avoid the jaws of the dogs behind them. The two were tired, and only warily glanced in each other's directions as they ran several tail's lengths apart from one another. The running only stopped when the two of them were outside of the forest, standing just outside of it. The two apprentices were hunched over, their chests heaving, their hearts pounding as they took in sharp breaths of air to regain their breath and energy. After a moment, Moonpaw turned towards Sunpaw, ears pinned against his head. His muzzle parted, like he was about to say something, but he instead took in one more breath before speaking.

"Sunpaw, what were you thinking?!" He hissed out, his golden eyes wide as they locked on her frame. He looked aggravated physically, yet his eyes betrayed him, showing his true emotion; fear.

"I couldn't just let the warriors do all the work! Those are were our friends, our clanmates! We''re apprentices, we're to be warriors, we're supposed to fight for our clan to the last breath! Have you forgotten the warrior code?! Sorry that you thought it was a competition, but I actually thought I could at least TRY to help!" She hissed out, her head just centimeters away from Moonpaw's, their eyes locking with one another. The two of them stood in silence, looking at each other's eyes. Eventually, Moonpaw's head lowered to the ground, his claws sinking into the soil as he forced himself to take a seat on his haunches, his voice strained as he spoke on the verge of tears.

"You're right. We are warriors. I let our stupid feud get in the way, I just wanted to kill more dogs.. At that moment, I wasn't even thinking about the clan. I was thinking about winning, beating you at something.. This is my fault." His gaze stayed towards the ground, too ashamed to raise up to meet the icy blue eyes of his friend. Sunpaw's tense muscles relaxed, her eyes gazing down upon her friend. She then made her way forward, sitting in front of him.

"Moonpaw. It's not your fault. We both know that neither of us stood a chance against one of those beasts. You didn't bring them to the camp, so don't pin the blame on yourself." She said, trying to calm her friend down. As much as the two fought, the two of them were vulnerable at this point, both emotionally destroyed. They needed one another more than anything now, yet their feud would still not cease. Moonpaw then rose his head up, gazing into Sunpaw's eyes, his golden eyes soft for once as they stared upon her.

"Sunpaw, I know what I got to do for this.." He said, raising to his paws. He looked around the valley, tears forming at the base of his eyes. "We both need to find new homes."

"What?! But, Moonpaw, we've been together our entire lives.." She looked on at the tom, horrified at his conclusion. He looked back at her, and sighed softly.

"We fight a lot. Look. We'll still be friends, we'll still be able to compete against one another, but I think that it would be best to help each other out to new clans. We fight too much to be in the same clan, and I really don't want to risk another major attack happening and us competing instead of actually helping our clans. Do you understand? I'm not leaving you forever. I wouldn't do that. But we need to learn loyalty to one clan, and that would be best with us separated." Moonpaw then paused, looking over Sunpaw as she tried to collect her thoughts. She finally agreed with a nod.

"Okay. You're right.. But let's pick clans that are only a couple day's trip away from one another, okay?" Sunpaw asked, and Moonpaw nodded.

"Come on. We got a long trip ahead of us." The two of them then pressed forward, leaving the valley. The two of them wandered for a couple of moons together, until they reached a river. On the other side of the river, just to the south, there was a forest, and after observing it for several days, Moonpaw saw the same cat come out each day; and came to the conclusion that there was a clan. On that fourth day, Moonpaw turned towards Sunpaw.

"Sunpaw, this is it. I've found my calling." He said as they lapped at the water. Sunpaw rose her head up, at first shocked, then relaxed. She forced a smile, getting to her paws. Between them, there were several rocks in the river to lead to the other side.

"One more competition, Moonpaw?" Sunpaw asked with a wary smile, and Moonpaw sprung up. Sunpaw then continued with speaking. "Let's race across this river." And with that, Moonpaw and Sunpaw darted forward, leaping rock to rock. Sunpaw leaped to shore just a second before Moonpaw, laughing softly.

The two of them gave each other a playful pawing to each other's ears, then relaxed. Moonpaw and Sunpaw looked at each other, knowing that their departure had finally come.

"Sunpaw.. Let's meet at this river each half-moon, alright?" Moonpaw said, his voice slightly strained with sadness and delight.

"Okay, Moonpaw. I'll see you on the other side." She said with a smile, giving him one more paw to the shoulder before leaping back across the river. The two of them looked at one another briefly before turning away. Sunpaw ran into the valley to the north, while Moonpaw made his way into the forest, both seeking out their new homes.
