It felt good to run. It felt good to escape. Scenting the air, a jet-black wolf figure stopped in his tracks. Standing on his hind legs, he put his nose even further in the air. Prey. He stood still, ears and nose twitching. Soon a rabbit hopped blindly into the canine's field of vision. Slowly, he approached, saliva dripping off his jowls. When he was but a few meters away, he lunged, catching the squealing beast in his paws. One snap of jaws against bone and the air silenced. The wind shifted. Halfway through his snack, his attention was drawn back to the air. Something was different. Someone else was around. Someone not of his own kind. Quickly, he finished his rabbit in case the scent of the blood was to draw attention (and just the fact that he was hungry) and meandered deeper into the woods. This forest was new to him, so he supposed he should take caution, but he was curious. The wind was carrying faint voices with it, and scents he had never smelled before.
He soon found the source. A cave. He could hear the voices almost clearly now, but was not up for picking a fight with an unknown being. Still, he decided to stick around for a while and figure this all out. Spotting a sturdy, old elm tree he made his way well up into it with three graceful bounds and made himself comfortable in a fork between two branches.

Aurora heard the sounds and morphed into her wolf form. She bounded out of the cave and sniffed around.

Movement down below caught his eye and he stilled. He knew he must still smell of blood from his meal, but he was higher up, making it difficult for him to be scented. He watched this strange wolf-creature sniffing the ground and air below him. He was dark against the nighttime sky, so he hoped there was little chance of him being seen. No, it would have to be his scent that gave him away.

[The.Doctor.]

Aurora caught the scent of another wolf. She shifted forms and growled, "Come out. I know you are here. I can smell you." She wasn't going to let this being go unnoticed. Maybe there was going to be a fight. She sure was itching for one.

He had to fight hard not to growl when she spoke. In a bold move he dropped the 30 feet straight to the ground, landing squarely on his feet. He did not shift. His other side was weak. He would not give her the opportunity to catch him when he was weak. He merely stood there. Not threatening, but not backing off either.

[The.Doctor.]

"ahh," Aurora smiled. "There you are. I was wondering if you were going to show yourself at all." She stared at the black wolf, her eyes daring.

He was torn. He could see her dare, and he was itching for a fight himself, but something was holding him back. He had no problem attacking anything from squirrels to the occasional deer, but she was different. He knew she was strong. But she was taunting him and he would have none of that. Making up his mind, he dropped to all fours and lunged.

[The.Doctor.]

Crap. She morphed into wolf form before trying to bite him. She growled. Aurora didn't want to fight now.

He turned back to her, growling fiercely. He had made the first move, and he wasn't dumb. He stayed where he was, keeping an eye on her, waiting for a counter-strike. His muscles were tense, ready to dodge anything she could throw at him.
