[My.Immortal]

Zaid walked to the window in a few long strides and shut it tight. He had to buy some time to figure out an appropriate response. He turned slowly and decided to ask the only thing that really registered in his mind. Xaria was really hurt and she needs medical help. "Maybe we should get you to a doctor..." Zaid said looking at her face delicate face. "And... why didn't you want to tell me? You know I wouldn't laugh...". Zaid knew this remark was sort of childish but it was really the only reason that she wouldn't tell him he could think of. He walked closer to her slowly until his face wasn't far from hers.

Xaria blushed at his closeness, biting her lip slightly. "I..." She sighed, deciding to tell him the truth. "I didn't think you would have cared." She mumbled, her eyes shutting as she waited for his replying actions. They had been enemies, rivals, at the beginning of their mission but now... She didn't know where they stood. Were they friends or less than? And why was she blushing? She couldn't be falling in love with a guy that would never return her feelings. That would be against all logic and somehow, she couldn't deny it.

Zaid blinked slowly trying to figure her out. He looked over her face and the corners of his mouth turned up as he saw she was blushing. His heart was pounding and he didn't know what to say. He knew that now it was different between them, like something came out of the shadows that wasn't in their presence before. Zaid whispered, "You didn't think I care about you?"... "Xaria, I do though, and you have to know that..." he trailed off. Zaid didn't move closer to her nor farther away, he stayed where he was locking eyes with her to see her real reaction.

Xaria's eyes flashed with uncertainty, her lip slipping between her teeth. "You do...?" She searched his eyes for any sign of a lie. "I don't know why you would so I assumed you didn't." She dropped her gaze, her head falling forward as she looked down at her lap. She sighed. "Just forget I said anything." She mumbled, her cheeks still tinged pink. She could feel his breath brushing against her skin. She wondered how she must look and realised how weak she must have looked. She was always so strong and she hated letting him see her like this.

Zaid cocked his head to the side slightly but didn't say anything. He wondered why she didn't want him to remember what she said. Even when she said to forget it, that made her words stick in Zaid's mind even more. "Xaria..." he said softly, trailing off.

Xaria looked up and met his gaze. She smiled slightly to let him know she was okay. Even though she wasn't. "Yeah?" She mumbled quietly, ignoring the flares of pain that shot through her every so often. She nibbled nervously on her lip, keeping her gaze meeting his, no matter how much she wanted to look away.
