Weather Report: Spring is here! With spring comes bountiful prey and herbs, however be careful as with more prey comes more predators and other dogs. Pups born in this weather have a higher chance of surviving now as well.

"You have a fine group of warriors here, Aqer." Murmured Ninina, of whom had just recently joined their ranks.
She was newer to her practice, but claimed to have been learning more and more each day. By the new moon,
she said, she would be completely trained in her art. Was that sure to be true? No one really knew. Aqer never
spent much time around healers or shamans of the like, and therefore Ninina was the first. She was an attract
ive female, no doubt, and made the brute feel drawn to be around her. However, he knew she wouldn't be suit
able as a mate for himself, as they both had their own busy tasks to attend to. Aqer desired a mate of whom
was more simple, and he wouldn't have to worry about constantly. Ninina, you see, was exactly the opposite.
"I'd rather you address me by Olo' Aqer." He sighed.
"Excuse me, Olo' Aqer," She mimmicked, turning her head to face the brute at her side. "my mistake, please do
forgive me."
Aqer shook his head lightly, a deep string of laughter escaping his lips. "You know, you shouldn't talk to your lea
der like that. I can remove you from your rank with a single word."
"Oh yeah?" Cooed the female, standing from her post upon lookout. She circled the brute once, before stopping
in front of him. "I'm sure you could. But the real question is, would you actually?"
Of course he wouldn't be able to, for Aqer already cared for Ninina like a close friend, or even a sister. She ma
de him laugh and smile, but she also managed to distract him from his work. Although, it could come in handy
sometimes, as being distracted from all of the troubles around him could help to ease his state-of-mind. Sighin
g once more, Aqer let out a subtle grunt, standing to leave before anything else managed to happened.

The late afternoon air was filled with heat, the summer sun hanging high above the forest trees.
The lifewater shimmered beautifully, showing good fortune for the pack this day. Calum sat atop
the warm surface of a great boulder, his fur absorbing the rays of sunshine that dappled through the
overhanging leaves. The stream-dwelling pack was still young, yet he had little worry for their future,
especially with Kenna's arrival. The snowy fae had seemed displeased with her current company - an
inexperienced leader and a clumsy irontooth - but she did as she was guided to. Calum understood
her eagerness to escape deeper into the forest with the excuse of gathering herbs, but said nothing.

Hakon's paws itched - his whole body itched! Anticipation shook his whole body and he nearly quivered with excitement. Today was the day. Swallowing whatever joy he could the Cane Corso entered the light of day and searched for his quarry. "Jokul!" he called, facading a kind of elation, "Let's go train!" The small pup scampered over, happily grinning from ear to ear, "Alright, Hakon! Let's go!" A small ripple of rage went down the male's spine but he shook it off - remain calm.

The two dogs wondered southwest through the thin woods before Jokul spoke up, "Where are we going, Hakon?" Hakon stifled his irritation, "You'll find out soon enough." Within a few seconds the loomed ruins of the Challenger's Pit came into view and Jokul scampered off, obviously thrilled, "Oh man, this is where Authun fought that stranger!" Hakon nodded, "Very good." Jokul turned to face his mentor, "So what're we doing here, Hakon?" Hakon unleashed his inner rage in the form of a snarl, "Jaa-Hakon!" Jokul light-heartedly laughed, "It's okay, Hakon, I'm the future Falvilda, so I don't have to call you Jaa-Hakon, I can call you whatever I want!" Hakon stepped forward slowly, lips raising in a threat, "Well then, future Falvilda, I exercise my right to challenge you to your position." Jokul suddenly shrank at the words, all hints of joy gone from the small puppy. His ears fell against his head and his eyes grew wide, glistening with a fear he'd never felt before, "But, H-Ha.. Jaa-Hakon.." he muttered, beginning to shake, "You're supposed to be.. My teacher.." Hakon laughed, "Oh, come'on, Jokul, don't go easy on me.." His words ending in a growl that shook his whole body.

Hakon lunged forward, taking the puppy's head between his jaws. He hardly even heard the cries as Jokul's body went limp. "Did you see, Jaakko?" Hakon howled to the skies, "Have I made you proud, Jaakko!?"

The black dog walked slowly, relishing the moment as he entered camp. Small rivulets of blood leaked between his lips and dripped around his toes leaving a small trail of droplets behind him. As he came into view the sounds were immediate - small gasps of shock, muttering rumors, and even a few small chuckles of entertained canines. The Cane Corso paid them no heed as he continued his walk stopped short of Authun. Hakon's grin was visible even behind the limp body that hung between his teeth. Swinging his head back Hakon tossed the body as far as he could. Jokul's limp form thudded onto the ground and rolled until it slammed into Authun's massive rear paw. The Kir's ear twitched at the disturbance and he glanced around to see Jokul's twisted shape curled around his foot. Hakon watched as Authun's fur slowly stood, watched as the rage began to glisten in his eyes. "What have you done!?" Authun roared in Hakon's direction. The black dog shrugged lightly, a crazed smile on his jowl, "I killed him." Hakon took a single step forward, shifting his weight, "I did it for us, Authun'Kir! That pup wasn't worth your time!"

Authun boiled, lips pulled up, tail skyward behind him. "Kill him." The Kir's attention was torn to the voice beside him. The massive, black, half-wolf's form sat, uncaring and devoid of any readable emotion, "Here. Don't spare him for the Pit. He isn't worthy." Without another word Kironir vanished like a wisp in the wind.

A series of short, quiet laughs approached Authun, "Well, Authun'Kir," Flogi's voice cackled, "You heard him." Shock went down Authun's spine - he heard Kironir!? He could see their god!? Kironir's presence was reserved for the Kir alone! ..How? The male shook himself - now wasn't the time. Now was the time to kill his precious Jokul's murderer.

Hakon took several more steps forward, the same crazed grin never leaving his lips, "I just want to serve you, Kir.." Authun roar, "You don't get to make those calls!" The Kir's voice lowered, "Hakon, I hereby strip you of your title." Hakon's eyes widened and he finally lost the deranged smile he'd be wearing, "N-n-no! You can't!" A snarl lit up on his face, "I won't let you!" The black dog lunged forward, "I'll just kill you too!"

The Kir followed suit and rushed forward, meeting Hakon in the middle of camp. Hakon leapt up, trying to soar over Authun but the Kir knew just what to do. Authun lifted a paw, slamming it into Hakon's lower jaw, sending the Cane Corso backwards. He hit the ground with a hard thud and slide a small distance. Before he could stand Authun was above him, shining teeth glaring into his eyes. The Kir drove his teeth into Hakon's throat and within a few seconds the short furred dog lay dead at his paws. The pack was alive with both elation and shock when Authun turned to them, "Throw this mange-pelt's body near the Challenger's Pit. Let the scavenger's eat to his bones." he snarled then walked over to Jokul's small body and remorsefully buried his nose in the puppy's check fur, "I want Jokul to spend the night in camp.. Tomorrow we find him a proper burial spot."

Rusty was very excited as Seria told him the ancestors approve of him becoming an irontooth. They were to hold a ceremony to officially declare his change of ranks. The new tenderpaw, Pidge, was also going to receive her mentor. Although they wouldn't train side by side, Rusty introduced himself to her and they were slowly getting to know each other.

Early in the morning, Seria had called for a meeting. Dogs came from all corners of the cavern and sat in front of her. Sol stood next to her as her beta. "Good morning, everyone," she said and the others nodded in greeting. "We have been blessed with good luck lately. Aster's successful birth of her pups and also we took down an elk. And now, I am proud to announce that tenderpaw Rusty is ready to become an irontooth. Rusty, please come to the front."
Rusty got up and stood before both Seria and Sol.
"As we all know, you have been training under Sol for many months now. Sol has also agreed that you are ready. So!" Seria barked. From now on, you will be known as an irontooth of Mount Willow Tree!" She gave him a nudge to the head with her nose and Sol did the same. Rusty shut his eyes in acknowledgement. Then the kennel begun to chant his name in celebration.
"Good work, Rusty. I'm looking forward to see your efforts as an irontooth," Seria whispered to him.
"Oh, thank you! I'll do my best," he replied. The chants died down and he returned to where he sat before.

"We also have another matter to go through. Pidge, please come to the front," she said in her most welcoming way. Little Pidge got to her paws and padded to the front. "This is Pidge and she will become a tenderpaw. Today, I will assign her mentor." Seria scanned the crowd until she stopped on one particular dog. "Lana. You will be Pidge's mentor."
"Wow, really?!" she barked in response then dashed to the front. Sandy rolled her eyes.
"Pidge, this is Lana. She's a smart dog so I'm sure you'll learn lots," Seria smiled. Pidge nodded and then her and Lana nuzzled.
"Well, that is all for now. You know resume your duties." With that, the meeting ended and dogs begun to separate.

Rusty sat by himself for a moment before Kierat ran over to him. "Congratulations, Rusty! You're now an irontooth! Isn't that exciting?" he squeaked.
"Yes! I can't believe I got this far. Thanks, Kierat. You're a great friend," he smiled.
"Hey no problem! I know! Let's go on your first patrol as an irontooth," he suggested.
"Sure!" Rusty barked in reply. The two than left the cavern on patrol.

Seria let out a sigh and collapsed in her nest. "That was a lot harder than I imagined," she thought aloud.
"Well, I think you did a good job," Sol said.
"Oh, I forgot you were there. But thank you, Sol. You being next to me helped a lot," she said. He nodded and then looked around. Seria yawned and rested her head on her paws.
"Um... Seria..."
"Huh? Yeah, what's up?" she asked, looking up at him.
"I have been thinking about what you said last moon," he said.
"I said something? What was it?"
"About pups and having a mate."
"Oh! Oh. Sorry, you had to hear such nonsense," she laughed.
"No, no it's not nonsense. I just think your words meant a lot to me, as weird as it may sound," he replied. He turned towards you. "Ahh, this may sound embarrassing... But I was wondering... If maybe perhaps you wouldn't mind becoming mates? The two of us." She stopped to think.
"Hmm... Yes. I was actually talking about you when I said all that. So, yes. I would love to be mates," she said. Sol smiled and went to sit next to her. The two cuddled and then they napped together.

Brutus wasn't sure what to think about this new kennel. After Eden disbanded, he wandered multiple territories in search of nothing. Then he came here. Ares, the alpha seemed nice enough and the bonds between the pack members were certainly different. Kinder, almost. It was going to take some getting used to. There were a few who looked at him differently since he was so different from them. Cronus, the eldest dog in the kennel, was actually the first to approach him. Brutus saw his scars and knew that he had been through some things. He usually wasn't one for conversation, but the old dog got him talking about everything. This new kennel was different, but he was beginning to think that is was going to be a good kind of different.

"Night Callers, let us welcome our newest tenderpaws to stand vigil before Luna before they begin their training!"

Ares beamed down at his pups as the howls of his pack encircled them. They sat with their mentors, their eyes glowing in childish excitement. Enyo sat by the nursery and it was evident that she felt the same pride he did. Agenta was sitting solidly with a confident stance as her mentor, Athena, was celebrating with Hades. He knew that his protege would pass on everything she knew to his hot-headed daughter. Ajax was bouncing around with Apollo and Ares couldn't help but chuckle in amusement. He was certain that Apollo could handle his energetic son just as well as his mother could. Basia, on the other hand, had her head bowed as Artemis stood beside her. Her lips were moving, probably trying to coax the shy pup into celebrating. All three would be tenderpaws in the coming moon, and with Delphi on her final assignment and Jason extremely close to his Shadow Walk, the kennel was growing. His kennel.

After convincing Nike that she needed to stay in camp, which wasn't easy, the West patrol was on its way to take down the deer that had been scented a moon earlier. It consisted of Ares, Bello, Enyo (who was happy to be out of camp), Anteros, Hector, and the newbie Brutus. All were eager to hunt down the beast, but none of them could've known but that beast was going to be the first step in a crucial part of Night Caller history. They had corned it near the edge of the border. Brutus and Hector snapped at its flanks while Ares tried to come from behind. It was snorting and tossing its head around, trying to ram the dogs coming at it.

"Ares!" Enyo barked, baring her teeth and dodging a sharp hoof. Ares looked up and failed to see the hoof that was coming straight for him. It caught him in the temple and his eyes rolled back in his head. Enyo's eyes widened as her mate was flung to the side and into one of the trees. "ARES!" She cried and Anteros looked up, his ears flat against his head. He moved away from the angry deer as Brutus took his spot and leaped, biting the buck's windpipe and holding on for dear life. Anteros went to Ares and felt fear when he saw the large gash in his alpha's head. Whining, he looked down and saw that he wasn't breathing.

"No." He whimpered and backed away from the body of his alpha. "No, No, No..." Anteros whined and turned to Enyo who bounded over to him. She didn't say anything and looked down at her mate, eyes clouding in indescribable grief. Anteros knew that he couldn't say anything, so he bowed his head and let her process her grief. The black lab whined and buried her nose in his fur. As she touched Ares, his body jolted and Enyo jumped backwards, almost toppling over Anteros in her haste. In an instant, Ares raised his head and there was a dull white light in his eyes. Then it disappeared and the formerly-dead alpha blinked.

"Ares?" Enyo whispered in disbelief.
Ares blinked, as though he didn't understand, and then nodded slowly. "I think I lost a life." He said quietly.
