(this one’s gonna be long)
She continued to breathe when the snap of a twig caused her to jump and turn around. Behind her was a girl with a black horse. The girl was purposely avoiding eye contact, Avalon could tell because she had used the trick countless times before. She quickly pulled herself back up onto Glory’s back, wiping her tear stained cheeks in the process.
“H-Hi. My names A-Avalon. Sorry if I disturbed your ride. Nice meeting you. I’ll be going now.” A bright blush painted her cheeks, this was why she tried to stay away from all social activities, though she would be going to the dinner because it was, well, dinner.
Maddox barked, breaking the awkward silence. She nodded to the girl as she clucked Glory onwards and back to the barn. Avalon’s skill and talent in the saddle was eminent. Though she rode bareback, her leg barely moved as she posted. She carried herself with grace and confidence atop Glory’s back, if only that carried into social interaction. Once she thought she was out of the girl’s sight line, she squeezed her legs into the mare’s side, urging her into a full blown gallop. Maddox ran behind them.
Finally making it back to the barn, Avalon jumped off and led the chestnut into her stall. She kissed her muzzle before shutting the door to visit Moon. The filly was rolling in her paddock. When she got up she was filthy. Avalon grabbed the curry comb she had brought and got to work. Bits of dirt and hair flew off, sticking to her. When she was finished, she looked almost as dirty as Moon had to start. The filly snorted, as if laughing at her, before going back in her paddock to roll again. Avalon pressed her wrist to her forehead in frustration, but decided to let the gray stay muddy this time.
She rubbed Maddox’s ears before starting to jog back to the truck. He followed closely as he always did. She grabbed her bags and walked towards the cabins. Opening the door to the lobby, she had to stop. Large couches spread across the whole room and the decor was rustic, but comfortable and homey. She smiled, glad this was her new home, and walked up the stairs to room 15. Some doors were already open where girls had found their rooms. But she kept walking down the hall until she came onto the last door. Pulling the key from her pocket, she unlocked it. Walking inside, she smiled at the cozy feeling of the cabin. She knew she would learn to love it here. She dropped her bags on the bed and grabbed her toiletries. Taking off her shoes, she walked into the bathroom. Soft, white towels were placed around the tiled room. She took one and turned to look in the mirror. Then, smiling to herself, she took a quick shower.
When she got out, she blow dried her hair and pulled it into two Dutch [removed]braids in preparation for the dinner. Maddox had found a home on the couch so she could hear snoring from the other room. She smiled at him as she walked to her suitcase to get her [removed]dress for the dinner. It was flattering, but not showboat-y. She pulled it on. Then she got her tan [removed]sandels and put them to the side of her bed. She walked back to the bathroom and put a small amount of lipgloss and mascara on before sitting on the couch next to Maddox.
(Don’t bother tagging her. I’m not going to write for her again until the dinner)
