Mark Holloway ~ Male ~ Thirty-Three ~ Werewolf ~ Loner/Former-Beta
Location: Skylar's Home/Living Room ~ Tags: Emmelene

Mark raised his eyebrows and turned his head as Emmelene peeked around the entryway to the room and spoke. Mentioning a change of clothes which he currently couldn't deny since his own were in a drenched puddle on the floor outside the infirmary. "You sure you're up for it?" He'd ask giving her a soft smile, having seen the way she'd lost her balance getting off the medical cot earlier. The man was half-tempted to try and follow her up and help but remained seated on the couch, unsure if he'd be a hindrance for the moment. When she mentioned the others arguing he shook his head with a huff, "They're angry and afraid, some people lash out when that happens." Mark's shoulders gave a small shrug under the foil blanket, he understood to an extent which was why he'd tried to help stop it by leaving the room.

She shrugged with a weak smile.
"Hey, if you want to rag along, sure. More fun than sitting here. But seriously, I'm fine. I managed to escape the silver poisoning, so it'll be totally fine. It's just kinda sore, that's all."
Uh, no, "really sore" is the word choice you're looking for, Em. But she didn't particularly want to admit that. Not when she still - still - hoped of being reallocated as a fighter when she hit eighteen in a few months' time. So she widened the smile and gestured weakly for Mark to come with her.
Letting Mark pick out his own clothes would save her a job of scrounging for something that would probably fit, she guessed. That was fine. Whilst ambitious, definitely, she wasn't a fan of hard work.
"And yeah, high tempers, I guess." She winced as she heard another thud - like somebody being slammed against a wall. She almost turned and ran in there, but - at the thought of potentially facing down an angry Adam - turned towards the narrow stairs at the end of the corridor. Perhaps the distance between the floors would muffle the angry voices.
"So, I think there's some old coats up here, too," she continued, somewhat loudly, steps creaking underfoot. She wasn't sure if Mark had followed her, but she wasn't above talking to herself, anyway. Though she did regret not bringing headphones with her. "They'd probably be kinda big, but I don't know if you have any stuff up there still. I don't remember seeing anything. Did you have anything up there anyway? I mean, we can hope you left something beh- I mean, you still have something lying around, right?"

Theodore Ford I Human I Blade I Tags; mentions Aurora, Kat, D'Arc
The straps of his bulletproof had caught on the underneath of the vehicle, and he'd wedged himself in so well he couldn't actually get out. With a grunt of effort and a few minutes of struggling, he managed to strip off the armour that held him underneath the truck and wriggle out, tugging it all out after him and struggling back into it. The wolf was gone, by this point. In hindsight, he should have shot at the thing as it left - there was no point in allowing the beast to gloat over its own victory for too long - but, even with his gloves, his hands were probably too numb to pull the trigger.
He hauled himself into the cabin of the truck, stripping off the gloves and rubbing his hands together as he clicked on his mic and waited for the voice of his teammates to break over the airwaves as he inspected his injuries.
"Hey, you guys are not going to believe this."

(Yikes, that's short. Again. >.<)

I was along side Rian the whole time, aside from the spit moment i had broken off from his side to grab a nurse, knowing the already on edge leader would be nearly impossible to get into a proper exam room to get checked out and returning to his side, leaving him to gather what would be needed to properly treat the still unsanitairy wound, nearly forgetting about my own during this whole haste. Coming long side D'arc as the double doors slowed to a quite shut with us on one side and the trained staff wheeling our team member - our family member hurridly down the hall on the other i expelled a breath, the worry evident in my eyes as i looked up to the taller male gently grabbing his bicep and backing him towards a chair " He's going to be fine sir.. he has to be fine" I assured, mostly whispering the last part as i blinked before letting my cloudy gaze locked on his own holding it for a moment before looking away, glancing at the clock- really anywhere but the distraught Rian now. I was in denial that was as clear as day but i had to be I also had to ensure D'arc wasn't under a unbearable amount of stress at the moment, that plus the flood of consern he currently held wouldn't bear a good outcome. The moment i heard theo's voice come over the ear piece i casted a side glance towards D'arc silently as i clicked the button to switch the channels "i've got this sir, try not to loose you're arm while i'm gone" I said with a small smile, trying despite my own dread filled stomach lighten the mood before walking off and finally clicking the button to speak "Ford, whats going on?" I spoke into the mic, gaze flicking to the floor to the passing people and then the door we awaited restlessly news to come from.

Theodore Ford I Human I Blade Operative I Tags; Kat, D'Arc
Hearing Kat’s voice – not D’Arc’s, as he’d been expecting – made him jump. He quickly switched channels and redirected his voice to his teammate’s earpiece.
“I got myself attacked, that’s what. The damn mutt just came out of nowhere. I didn’t even have time to shoot it before it was on me.” He replied nonchalantly, lying smoothly when he added, “but I won, I’m okay and I’m in position now. It got away, but it left prints. Any chance it was the same one? Big, black…. Acting kind of erratically. Like it wasn’t in control…”
Then he shook his head, even though he knew Kat wouldn’t be able to see him, and flexed the cramped hand holding the scrap of fabric to his abdomen. As if he were squeezing a trigger. Against everything that suddenly made him want to hold back.
These creatures had hurt innocent people. And, worse, they’d hurt his friends. In this line of work, his people were going to het hurt. And he didn't hold a grudge against those who fought back once the Blades moved in. He'd have reacted in the same way. But this? This was without provocation. Alastair Klein, he already knew, was to die for no reason.
He tightened his grip on his rifle with a soft snarl and reactivated his visor's night vision mode.

Blair Strong I Werewolf I Fighter I Tags; Adam
She didn't know how long she ran for. The sole thought in her mind was that she had to get help. Somebody, anybody. She couldn't do this alone.
The scent of Adam Hale almost passed her by. Too distraught to notice anything much more than her general direction, she saw him just before she picked up on his musk and stumbled to a halt a few metres before the older male, ears flat against her skull and legs shaking.
The effort it took to shift sent her to her knees. Despite the snow slowly beginning to melt, the cold ground underneath her aching limbs made the muscles in her legs scream as they seized up. It was a good thing she'd found him - or he'd found her - when she did. She wouldn't have been able to run much further.
"Blake's dead," she quavered, holding back the endless tears. "She's dead!"

Adrian D'Arc I Human I Blade Team Leader I Tags; Kat
He wasn't a stranger to death. In this line of duty, people died. Klein had known what he signed up for. But there was a difference between a death that made a difference - a sacrifice that meant the destruction of a terrorist organisation, or the survival of a group of hostages - and the death of one of his men - his friends and family - for nothing. Just because he was too stupid to realise what they were really facing, and so arrogant as to believe they could handle them so easily.
Since when had he been sp reckless? Where was the calm, collected leader of two months past?
He allowed Kat to manhandle him into a chair and surrendered to the buzz of emergency technicians inspecting his arm. They patched him up and moved him on quickly enough. A flesh wound. Nothing too serious. A tetanus shot, a sling, some antibiotics and strict instructions to rest up. His home clinic would be notified, they added. Expect a call and some follow-up examinations.
He nodded as the pretty young nurse handed him back his ID and admin details, stood up and headed straight back towards the theater to wait for the bad news.

Aspat and Alexa sat for a very long time. Sometimes they spoke and sometimes they just looked at the water. Despite having spent sometime together, they both knew when to go their separate ways.

Aspat stood, being the last to leave and made his way back through the forest - walking along the dirt track directly towards his house. As he made his way through the forest, he heard something, someone moving. Thinking it was Alexa, He carried on but it was only when he came to the split in the road that he saw a male figure.

Aspat glanced up at the sky and noted that it was darkening but the trees blocked too much for him to tell if whether that was from clouds or the sun setting.

Aspat continued forward but snaked his way through the trees down the land between the two paths. He ran lightly so as to get in front of this person and see their face.

That was easier said than done as the person seemed to sense he was there. Obviously a werewolf and obviously had to be taken down soon.

Pulling out his knife with his good hand, He lunged out if the bushes with no real ceremony. He swung the blade round and, with brute force, buried the blade into the side of his head.

The wolf gasped and guttered as his body shook before falling to his knees and eventually down to the floor. Asoat was flad thos one was quick becaise his arm was stining and his head was pounding as if he had the worst hangover ever - did you get hangovers from morphine?

Aspat was preparing to go when he smelt it. The smell of antiseptic and blood and medical sterilisation. He paused. Werewolves had medics?

Shaking his head, Aspat continued through the forest.

Becoming bored of his house and curious as to what had happened to his other packmates - namely his daughter, Emmelene. Emery pulled his boots back on and made his way to the main house - a sort of hub for them all.

He gently knocked on the door before entering and following the scents of the wolves and...blood. Emery seemed to be suddenly cautious as he looked around, eyes wide as he looked around for Emmelene.

"Where's Em?" He asked as he entered the most populated room. "Where's my daughter? Is she okay?she better be okay! I was so stupid! Why did I not come sooner? She's dead isn't she. She's been taken by hunters just like Jess was." He rambled aloud.

The silence that i was met with temporarily made me think the male got disconnected, causing me to check my own ear piece to see if it was a problem on my end, but before i could get very far into my inspection i heard his voice crackle once again through the small speaker, the words he decided to open with causing my form to tense and eyes instantly shooting towards the door, as if expecting him to walk in. Silently i twirled my hair around a single finger and thought for a moment nodding as he said he was okay then trying to think back about the wolf we had been attacked by, eyes squinting in concentration though nothing came up and i shook my head "I- i don't know, we didn't get a good look by the time we caught up she was shifted" I explained rather frustrated i couldn't remember, though even more so how these beasts had the greater advantage, an advantage that wound us up where we were now, three out of the four team members injured, though little did i know we all were, how the hell did they manage those odds? how didn't we have a lead yet?. Taking a breath as i tried to calm myself enough not to be checked out by the nurses looking at me with a worried gaze i tuned back into fords voice, flinching slightly at the tone he now held as i glanced to the fleeing form of D'arc heading back to where they took our most critical member and bit my lip "hey ford, why don't you head down here? you really shouldn't be out there alone anyway clearly we're out numbered"I informed as i walked over to the coffee station the hospital had set up for the families of the pacients and pour two cups before heading towards D'arc.

I was nearly blinded by the scenes of the days events replaying over and over again, body on autopilot as it flew through the forest the pack knew like the back of our hands ears pinned to my head and snarls escaping my throat every so often the nonexistent sound of gunshots ringing in my ears as i shook my head trying to rid it. Panting heavily i closed my eyes for a split second, trying to get the images on loop out of my mind though as i reopened them, i was met with something else, another canine - Blair gaze widdening i forced my weight back, skidding to an abrupt hault stopping just before the distraught female with a confused expression, chest rising and falling heavily as
i tried to normalize my breathing from my mad dash out here as i looked her over, firstly thinking she injured herself, which wouldn't surprised me with all the damned hunters out here though for the life of me, i couldn't find any injuries not even a splinter which only added to my confusion. About to speak as i tried to gather what had her so upset my ears now alert on my skull quickly flicking back as my gaze caught her begin to fall, instantly lunging forward to catch her with a sharp wince and grunt from the sudden weight put upon my still healing wounds ensuring she didn't hit her head before bracing my self and following suit.
shifting and grabbing the girl as i knelt near her "Blair wha-" I began to ask the important question but before i could muster the whole thing i heard her answer, a answer that caused me to stop talking all together, it not even completely sinking in as she repeated it though enough to make my blood boil and jaw clench to the point i thought it was going to break as i closed my eyes, that was the last straw, they went two far now, killing the child we all grew overly fond of. Opening my eyes which darkend greatly i nodded and slowly stood up with the girl still in my arms "alright blair, alright" I breathed trying to get the girl somewhat calmer before looking around hoping someone had followed me though unfortunately they hadn't, cursing beneith my breath i prepared to adress the girl again though was quickly cut off as a strong scent filled my nostrils, a scent that nearly drenched this forest completely - blood.
Freezing as the wind carried it stronger i soon placed a name to the scent Benji, Ben's scent took over everything in my body, there was no doubt in my mind i was alive because of him and now, due to the thickness of the scent there was no possible way he was. Nearly loosing it as another scent entangled with it quickly brought that previously encountered hunters image into my mind, the one making all our lives a living hell i quickly lead Blair off, though not far just to a cluster of forestry where i gently placed her, hiding her best i could i knelt before her once again, expression completely changed from that i had when i first found her as i began to speak "we're going to be okay blair but here's the situation" I began, knowing her scences were likely dull as i pulled my phone from my pocket "we aren't alone out here a hunter is just over there somewhere" i continued pointing to where the scent had to have orginated before handing her my phone "i'm going to take care of it, I want you to call someone, anyone to come get you, Jason, Aurora whoever will answer, and stay here until they arrive" I finished, listing off the only people i could remember seeing lately that i had the number of.
Ensuring she understood i nodded and stood up before turning and sprinting off, not getting far before i shifted, to pissed - hurt to even notice the pain as i continued to run, what would the alphas do? what would skylar do? - protect the pact, elimnate the threat, Taking a shaky breath i ran in a direction away from blair gone without a trace before, once a good distance away, letting out a loud, haunting howl hoping to attract the hunter before loping off a bit further luring him, and I further from the safety of the remainder of the pack

Mark Holloway ~ Male ~ Thirty-Three ~ Werewolf ~ Loner/Former-Beta
Location: Skylar's Home/Attic ~ Tags: Emmelene

Mark had opted to follow the teenager up until they'd reached the attic, still wrapped in the foil blanket both for heat and decency. The area was about as expected, he'd only been up here once but it seemed like it hadn't changed very much. Rather than digging into any boxes he'd simply watched her, whilst turning his head and looking over into a few that were left open. "No I uh," Mark shook his head slightly, "I didn't take everything with me." It wasn't like he'd had enough time, his leaving hadn't been planned ahead of time. One day he'd decided it was what he was going to do, and that night he left before anyone had found out. He'd packed what he could but not everything. "What makes you think any of my things would be up here?" He asked curiously, trailing behind her. Unless Skylar's attic had somehow become the universal place to put anything that was abandoned or unused. Mark hadn't a clue what happened to the belongings he'd left behind.

Adrian D'Arc I Human I Blade Team Leader I Tags; Theo, Kat
He took the coffee gratefully and downed half of the scalding beverage where he stood. He didn't know how she always knew - female intuition or whatever, he guessed - but she did. She had even remembered to put sugar into the drink.
Taking a deep breath and murmurring a "thank you", he dropped onto one of the uncomfortable, plastic chairs that had somehow strayed into the hospital's corridor, just as a grave-faced doctor emerged from behind the double doors and took a few steps towards him. A part of him was conscious of Kat talking into her earpiece, but suddenly, that was irrelevant. His grip on the cup tightened. Coffee dripped from the cup's lid onto his fingers, but he didn't even register the burn.
"Mr D'Arc? And Miss...? I mean, ma'am? Could you please come with me?"
"... He's gone, isn't he?" Adrian D'Arc's voice, usually so smooth and calm, cracked as the words left his lips.
"Sir, ma'am, please, this way."

There was only one seat in the room, beside the chair the doctor took. D'Arc put a hand on the back and gripped it tightly, but left it for his comrade - provided she had decided to follow the doctor's directions - and stood as the professional quietly assured them that the end had been painless.
"We couldn't do anything for him. There was mass internal haemorrhage through his core. I'm sorry. But we did everything we need to make it easier." He – the doctor - frowned almost unnoticeably. It must have been a tough job, but D'Arc was in no mood to empathise. Not today.
"If you want a moment with... We can give you that, Mr D'Arc. But, if you feel up to it, I believe the Sheriff Landy would like a few words with you."
D'Arc mirrored the doctor's frown, but there was steel behind his expression as he removed his badge from his inside picket and passed it to the cop standing to one side. Sheriff Landy's face paled slightly as he returned the federal badge and gestured towards the door.
"... You're free to go for now. Don't leave town."
D'Arc nodded steadily and left the room in silence.

Blair Strong I Werewolf I Fighter I Tags; Adam, Pack
She took the phone with shaking hands and watched the older male run off after the other scent that tore what was left of her heart apart.
One more down.
Three months ago, this massacre would have been unthinkable. The pack was strong, and Skylar – despite all her obvious shortcomings - defended the borders fiercely. But how could a pack defend its borders if it had nobody to defend them?
A sudden burst of determination filled her head. This was going to stop, one way or another. Each and every one of them mattered now, even more than they had before. Most of the pack had failed to return home, whether they fled or were killed. But she was still alive and strong, and – more importantly – so was Adam. The pack needed him, more than ever. Like most of the remaining wolves, she’d always avoided pack politics, but even she’d heard the murmurings in recent months, and they’d only become stronger once the Alphas passed.
Skylar was an excellent fighter, but it took a different kind of person to run a pack.
That person had just launched into a desperate plan to protect his pack, without backup.
She looked at the phone in her hand and dialled Aurora’s number.

Jason Loen I Werewolf I Medic I Tags; Emery, Skylar
He looked up as Emery entered, scowling uncharacteristically until the other male’s words spilled out and his comfort complex took over. He returned his gaze to the female he was still working on, but put as much calm into his voice as he could.
“Whoa, Emery, it’s fine. She’s okay. A little sore, but we got the bullet out before it did her any serious damage. Only minor soft tissue damage. I stitched up the worst of it, and the rest… that’ll fix itself by midday, I promise. She’s gone up to the attic to get clean clothes, I think.”
He kicked the bucket of bloodied clothes towards the scout pointedly.
“If you could take those outside and burn them, I’d appreciate it. It’s not hygienic, and Luka and Benji have gone walkabouts, and my hands are tied.”

Emmelene Castellanos I Werewolf I Hunter I Tags; Mark
"Hey, if we don't know what to do with it, we dump it here or in one of the barns. If you didn't take everything with you, there'll be something here."
She couldn't remember whether the former beta had lived at the house or on his own - she'd been fifteen, and more interested in the cute boy in he'd maths class than what was going down in the pack at the time, to her mother's despair - but, if what he said was true, she was fairly confident that there's be something suitable.
She tugged open a cardboard box and began to dig through the stuff, finding an acceptable plaid skirt in one box and a pair of black combats she imagined must have belonged to a nine-year-old Skylar. Still, they looked as if they'd fit. A benefit of being five feet tall. After looking between them for a few seconds and remembering the ugly scratches on her legs from where she'd been dragged to safety, she opted for the pants. Not usually her style, but - scratches aside - more fashionably acceptable that the alternative; the pair of flared jeans she'd found underneath them were awful enough to make her shudder. She found an old hoodie that looked as if it might have been Blair's in an adjacent box and, satisfied, she dropped the selected clothes onto a third box and began to take note of the other stuff up there.
Within five minutes, she'd cried out in delight as she found an old photo album, only to cast it aside and pull out an old statuette of a horse. It looked like bronze and weighed a ton, but she hefted the little model up anyway and blew off the dust, all previous purposes for being up there forgotten until she finally saw a box that was labelled in meticulous handwriting as belonging to Mark Holloway. "To sell," another hand had scrawled underneath his name. Probably Blair. It looked like her handwriting.
But, as far as selling the stuff had gone, clearly, nobody ever had. She pushed aside the curiosity that pushed ag the cormer of her mind and smiled. Lucky for them.

Theodore Ford I Human I Blade Operative I Tags; Kat, D'Arc
To Kat's last comment, he didn't know how to respond. He'd picked out "we". That probably meant her and D'Arc, at least. From the sound of it, they were both okay, even if not even he was optimistic enough to hope for much more.
"... I think I'll stay here, Kat. I'm not going to be taken by surprise again. But thanks for the thought," he replied, not unkindly. "Just an hour, maybe."
He looked at his watch. It was a 5.11 Field Ops Watch, primarily used for hunters but very, very handy for snipers, too. Built in ballistics computer, and a battery life of over a year. In this industry, you travelled light. And having his computer on his wrist was handy as hell.
The time read eight in the morning. He'd been out all night. The thought of going back to the run-down cabin and trying to sleep was painful, for some reason. It was kinda like giving in.
"Until nine," he added. If he'd been face to face with her, he'd have used the puppy eyes. Unfortunately, the slight pleading tone would have to do. "I can multitask if you need me to. Like, what do you need?"

Aspat lifted his head. He semsed someone else. He didnt know how he knew they were there, but he did. He followed the add smell, it lured him closer and his head began to pound. This thing smelt similar to tje wolf he'd just killed. Not the smell of medicine bit the smell of...he didn't know what but it was something and it was strange. Let alone how he was even picking this things up. Maybe his time as a hunter was having it's advantages.

He went to creep forward, He was close to her. It was a her. He didnt know how, bit it was and then he collapsed. His body fell into the dirt, leaves and twigs crunching under his weight. His jead thronged and his heart bashed against his ribs as if it longed to escape.

Emery seemed to calm as Jason spoke to him. He respected Jason and understood his words - he knew his daughter was safe. He took a few shaky breaths before his heart rate returned to normal. He stepped forward and took the clothes plus a lighter from a box nearby. He went outside and lot the bloodied clothes on fire, seeing his daughter's clothes mingled with those of the other packmates.

Emery made his way back inside, letting the fire die out on its own, no reason to kill it before it was done. He looked thankfully at Jason.

Jason Loen I Werewolf I Medic I Tags; Emery
Over an hour after Mark had hauled the beta's butt to safety, Jason stepped back from the female and, wrapping a thick blanket around her, finally allowed himself to collapse onto the bench beside the bed, head in his hands. Exhausted.
The monitor beeped ominously in his ears.
When Emery returned from his errand, Jason jerked his head back up and tried to smile encouragingly. "Thanks, buddy. Say, you didn't see Benji or Luka outside anywhere, did you?"
He shook his head. It was odd for either of his partners to go missing at a time like this; Benji, especially, had to be physically dragged from his patients before he left their side. The paramedic sighed. He guessed fear played with people's heads. Half the pack had been acting weirdly, in one way or another, since things started going downhill.
"Anyway, thanks. Seriously."
He stood, started collecting spent dressings and swabs and syringes and dropped them into another box to burn later, getting Skylar onto a clean bed sp he could remove the bloodied oilcloth from underneath her and wash it. "You wouldn't mind adding this to the pile? And then seeing if you can find one of those guys, could you? I mean, I need to go and change and get more supplies and... Well, I don't want to leave the juggernaut..."
He shook his head again.
"Anyway, you're better at finding things than me, that's for sure."
