Rose
"How could she
not recognize a foot-long deadly weapon?" she asked incredulously, following after him. He was right; if they didn't get a move on soon, they were going to be caught. They'd get caught anyway, but they may as well make the most of it. She couldn't figure out why Dylan was panicking, though. He was pale and had a distant look, as if his thoughts were miles away. Concerned, she reached out and touched his arm reassuringly. "Dylan? What's the matter? You look spooked."

Rose
"For starters," she said, frowning at his faked nonchalance, "you're pale as a sheet." She wondered if she should press on; she was wondering what he meant by things were "freaky weird". Everything seemed normal to her. Except the whole Bio incident, but that was a normal classroom thing that happened. Right? Okay, so pipes didn't usually explode of their own accord, but she was sure it happened occasionally. Deciding it was best to change the subject, she asked, "Where is it we're going, exactly?"

Dylan
Dylan shrugged. "This way, I guess." He moved on, but something kept bugging him. His whole life, he'd adapted. He learned how to hide his feelings from his mother, so she wouldn't be worried. He learned how to forge her signatures so she wouldn't have to see the test he failed, or the pop quiz that he obviously didn't study for. He even learned how to bend a certain way so the wedgies he got from bullies wouldn't hurt as much. But he knew today that
he caused the explosion in science, and he still can't believe what he did. How could it even be possible? He can't explain it; but this tug in his gut, this primitive sensation that rushed through every nerve in his body, tingling his fingertips like bubbly soda, was what caused the ruptured pipeline. He heard the waves in his ears, angry like on a particularly rough ocean tide, the wave that blocked his vision with anger for a split second before it happened.
But Rose would call me crazy if I told her that.

Rose
Rose continued to watch him. He was wearing an odd expression that she couldn't quite place. He almost looked... guilty. But not quite. She trusted him to tell her whatever was bugging him when he was ready; obviously, now wasn't the time. Shrugging mentally, she followed him, lost in her thoughts.

Dylan
Dylan cleared his throat to break the awkward silence. "So, I figured we could travel by day and sleep overnight at some cheap hotel or something. Maybe we could even..." He trailed off suddenly, staring intently on something. He took a step backward. "Did you hear that? A twig snapped." He turned towards Rose, wondering if he was crazy. He sighed, exasperated. "There are no
bears in this forest, are there?" He should've been scared, but really he was just aggervated because
he was always the one getting scared.

((They're in a forest? Huh. Didn't think of that.))
Rose
Rose stopped next to him, scanning the trees. "I don't hear or see anything. Maybe you're just jumpy because there's a good chance we're likely to get caught," she suggested. "Even if there were a bear, you could fend it off with that handy-dandy killer sword of yours." She shook her head. She still had no idea where the thing had come from.

[[Lol yeah. I just had some spontaenous idea to lure them into a deathtrap XD You can choose which deadly greek monster will lunge out at them, if you want ^^;]]
Dylan
Dylan paused. "Yah, you're probably right." He finally exhaled, and rolled his shoulders. "Maybe it's a stray dog, or something." He continued on a couple of meters before spotting a track in the dirt. It was huge, and definitely NOT from around here. "Uhhh, Rose... come look at this..."

Rose
Rose crouched down and blinked several times. What she was looking at couldn't be real; dog paw prints just did
not come in that size. Maybe it
was a bear. But the shape was one hundred percent canine. "I think you were right about the stray dog," she said slowly, still examining the massive paw print in the dirt. The claw impressions were the size of her thumb, and the pad marks themselves were bigger than her whole hand. "Maybe we should--" A low snarl cut her off and she turned abruptly to see the biggest dog she'd ever come across.
The beast made great danes look dwarfed; the jet-black mastiff was the size of a grizzly bear. Its muzzle was pulled back into a terrifying snarl, exposing all its inch-and-a-half-long teeth and the burning orange-yellow eyes seethed with hatred. She'd never been scared of dogs, but for this one? She'd make an acception.
((P.s: if you didn't already guess, it's a Hellhound. x3))
