Callie noticed that Summer spends way too much time out of the birthing den. She just had her puppies and most of the day she is out somewhere else. Callie and other members of the kennel constantly hear the puppies crying for their mother. It's heartbreaking. Callie thought to herself I don't care if Summer yells at me. She needs to be a better mother. Callie stormed up to Summer, who was eating prey from the pile. "Summer, we need to talk."
Uninterested, Summer answers "If you have an issue, you can talk to your leader Blitz. If he thinks it's a real problem he will bring it up to me."
"No. I'm going to talk to you directly. You are being a terrible mother to your pups."
Summer stood up and even though Callie was taller, she assumed a dominating stance. "What do you know about raising pups? You never even had any of your own."
"That is true. And even me, not having any experience with pup-raising, can tell that you are failing at being a mother! What mother leaves her newborn puppies for most of the day? You should know they have to eat every few hours."
"I know. I'm not stupid! I feed my puppies enough. Stay out of my business if you know what's good for you!!"
"I know what's good for me and your pups. You need to spend more time with them. It's early spring and still cold at night. When you are not there, Chester and Meadow are shivering. You call that being a good mother?"
Summer snarled "Don't tell me what to do or how to raise my puppies! I am your alpha and you shouldn't even be talking to me. So leave my presence now or you'll pay for your actions!"
"What will you do if I don't? Fight me? Because I'm ready for it."
"Grr! Is that a challenge?!"
Callie narrowed her eyes. "What if it is?"
Summer growled viciously and turned her back. "I reject your challenge. Come back to me when you are a higher rank."
Callie couldn't believe Summer. Even when she challenged Callie to become alpha, she didn't fight her. A few months ago she was ready to fight Callie. Why did she change her mind? Callie growled before digging her claws into the ground. She was about to jump Summer when Titus and Verona walked up to her.

Summer called Blitz over to her. Blitz trotted up to the alpha. Summer immediately jumped and attacked Blitz. She bit and ripped at his ears and face. Summer snapped her jaws at Blitz's front right leg. It snapped and Blitz howled in pain. He kicked her off and submissively laid down. The crazy border collie bit at Blitz's side before towering over him. "You may be alpha male, but I am the alpha dog. As someone who is so high in rank, you should have control over your guardians. Do you want to know what happened today? Callie challenged me to fight for the alpha position. She should've never had the chance to. You need to keep a better eye on your dogs or you will be in a lot more pain than you are now. Remember this."

Thunder, Rouge, and Shadow all stood around a scared male. He was acting quite weak for a dog of his size. Shadow exchanged glances with Rouge and Thunder before coming closer to the male. "Hello there. My name is Shadow. We aren't going to hurt you."
The male glanced urgently up at Shadow. His muscles relaxed as he realized that these dogs may not be a threat. "I'm Duke. Who are all of you?"
"We're apart of the Blood Moon. I suppose you've heard of it?" Thunder said.
Duke gave them all a confused look. "Are you dumb Thunder! Of course he's never heard of Blood Moon, he's obviously not from our territory." Rouge snapped.
Thunder glared at her but made no attempt to respond to her. Shadow on the other hand made another attempt to coax the male to join them. "We live in a group of other dogs, we all care for each other like one big family."
"Now that I think about it I may have heard of some dogs like that." Duke said his ears perking a little.
Shadow looked up at the sky, then back at Thunder and Rouge. "You guys try to wrap this up and take him back to camp if you can, I need to round up my pups for their Tenderpaw ceremony."
Thunder and Rouge dipped their heads as she bounded away. They looked back at Duke. "So do you want to join us or not?"
"I don't really know..... I just maybe I'll think about it."
Rouge groaned in frustration. "This is a one time offer Duke, you take it or leave it."
Duke's eyes widened. "I guess so. Yeah I'll join."
"Perfect! Let's get going, I want to see the poor soul that gets to mentor Thicket." She whipped around and began marching back in the direction they came.
Thunder gave Duke and apologetic look before motioning for him to follow them.

"Blizzard get back here right now!" Shadow called after the white pup who was bounding away from the nursery. She stopped.
"But mom! My ceremony is gonna start!" Blizzard whined running back to Shadow.
"I don't want you messing up your fur!" Shadow protested.
Blizzard rolled her eyes. "No one cares about my fur! I can't wait to be a Tenderpaw!"
The large figure of Blade came towards the nursery, joy sparking in his eyes as he saw his daughters enthusiasm."You seem very eager to get started on your training."
Blizzard looked up at Blade. "I'm so ready to train! I want to learn how to hunt and fight and swim, did I mention fighting?"
Blade chuckled, then turned his attention to Shadow who was dealing with Thicket. "I don't know hows he's going to be able to train without being able to hear."
Shadow sighed. "He's a tough one, I'm sure he'll manage."
Blade looked away from Thicket, noticing Thunder and Rouge arriving with a new dog. "I'll be right back he huffed." He padded up to them, they told him everything about meeting this new dog, Duke, Blade nodded his head. "Great you're just in time for the ceremony." Blade ran over to the stump and jumped on top of it gathering all the dogs. "Blizzard step forward." The white pup hopped forward her tail wagging in excitement. "Your spirit is strong and your eagerness to learn is outstanding, that is why Levi will be your mentor." Blade watched as Levi came forward and touched her muzzle to Blizzard's head before going back to the crowd Blizzard sitting proudly next to her. "As for Thicket-"
"Wait!" Hunter sprang forward interrupting Blade. "I would like to train Thicket to be a shaman."
Blade glared at Hunter for interrupting him. He shifted his paws and looked at Thicket who seemed to have no clue as to what was happening, Blade knew that even if Thicket had the normal training he would have still made his son an Omega. Maybe being a shaman would suit him better. "Fine. You may train him. Teach him everything he needs so that one day he may be a shaman just like you."
Hunter touched his muzzle to Thickets head and guided the pup to sit with him. "Blood Moon is dismissed!"

last month...
Hakon and his patrol entered camp with the four dogs from Silver Ridge behind him. He looked infuriated, every hair on his short pelt lifted in rage. The brute stopped at the entrance and without looking back barked, "Torstein. Stay behind and watch these fleas." The leonberger did little other then grunt his response, keeping his eyes locked onto the haggard group of runaways. Hakon left them and immediately went to Authun's den, "Kir. Important news." A low growl came as response and after a moments wait Authun walked out with Jokul hopping at his paws, "What's happening, what's happening!?" The little pup yipped but after a stern look from Authun he quickly sealed his lips. "What is it?" Hakon stood with his chest puffed as he reported, "My patrol caught some dogs at the border." Authun's pelt instantly ruffled and his eyes blazed, "Well then hurry up! Take me to them - is that head of yours empty!?"

Holding back a snarl Hakon nodded and led the way. When they reached the scene the lead dog, the dalmatian was causing trouble for Torstein. She stopped and turned her attention to Authun, "Well, who's this?"

Authun snarled and was in her face in a seconds notice, "My name is Authun'Kir, the Kir of this pack and you call me by no other name then my rightful title." The two snarled, nose to nose, "I can call you whatever I want! You aren't my alpha!" Authun snapped toward her ear, missing by a millimeter, "You seek refuge and talk to me like that!?" The dalmatian snorted, "Refuge? I wouldn't seek the prey from your dirty little pack!" Hazel and Ant danced nervously on their paws while the two exchanged words, Hazel trying to shield her little pup from the words with her body.

"What a time to wonder in with strangers." Ulf's voice could be heard from the entrance to camp, "What's going on here?" Behind him followed two dogs - one a massive Great Dane, the other a smaller Eurasier with a swollen belly.

Authun kept his eyes glued to Leslie, "We're taking a trip to the Challenger's Pit. Someone needs to be taught a lesson." Ulf's blind eyes sparked with interest, "Oh, how exciting. I'll prepare the rest of the pack, Kir."

Authun stood in the Challenger's Pit, his whole kennel on the outskirts of the ruins watching intently. His opponent, the spotted cretin, Leslie, stood on the other end. Her merger group of two followers stood, surrounded by his loyal dogs. Ulf sat atop one rocky post, his small body nearly engulfed by the sharp rocks. "This is the Challenger's Pit!" He barked and those surrounding lit up in cheers and elated barks, "We are here today because our Kir is to teach this intruder a lesson on manners!" More cheering from the dogs below, "The fighting here shall only end when a death has occurred! The dead shall receive no burial and shall not be welcomed into the god's mighty pack!" Ulf laughed to himself knowing fully well that if Authun did die, he had Kironir's blessing of eight more lives to follow and thus would always be welcomed by the mighty half-wolf.. this new dog however.. "With Kironir's name on your lips, begin!"

Authun instantly lunged forward, teeth bared. Leslie, not expecting the sudden beginning to such a fight was caught off guard. Luckily, she managed to side-step just in the nick of time and only received a minor scratch along her shoulder. Authun licked his lips with a grin, "Not bad.. But you'll have to do better!" he roared as he tore after the female again.

Nearly an hour passed and the two dogs stood, bloodied, crumpled heaps. Standing heaps that is. Leslie was battered that much was for sure and Authun fared no differently though his thick fur covered most of his wounds. What a feat.. the male's mind echoed. Needless to say Leslie had impressed the Kir. Caught in his own thoughts he saw Leslie at the last second. Her black and white body came at him, faster then he thought capable with those extensive wounds, and latched onto his throat. Authun struggled for a moment but quickly gave in.. a noble way to lose his last life.. a fae so capable.. this was just what he wanted... his life faded from him, leaking down to pool at his paws.

He woke again back in camp, in his own den, with Ulf sitting beside him, "What a fight, Kir."

this month...
Authun, with the help of Ulf, had healed quite spectacularly. Leslie, however, was forbidden the aid of the Kir's Vadikor and was suffering because of it. Her wounds were heavy and they kept tearing open with each minor movement. Authun quite enjoyed watching the site but couldn't help but think of how well she'd fought. The Kir knew she wouldn't die, not on his watch.. he wanted her to be his - serve him and do his will. If they ever fought again she wouldn't win..

Authun had decided to let these new dogs, who he called convicts sleep without a den. In the cold and open where they deserved. It was spring after-all and no one was likely to catch a cold.. not yet.

Things were coming along.. Katla's shriek of labor hit his ears and a grin fell onto his teeth.. Yes, things were coming along very well indeed. This time next month Jokul would have a mentor and he had just the dog in mind. Pups were on their way and his Falvilda was as well...

winter was harsh and unforgiving, claiming the lives of many animals that were too weak to make it through the chilling months. prey had been scarce for so long, yet with gentle rays of warm sunlight beginning to break through the gray clouds, spring had begun. the grass is now growing greener, small flower buds are forming and there are tiny leaves sprouting along branches. prey are crawling out from their dens, making hunting much easier.

rowdy walked through the deadlands, he walked slowly and was thinking about the future for the slaughterhouse. all the sudden changes were strange, unexpected and overwhelming, but he had no doubt the gang was strong enough to deal with whatever was tossed their way. he found looking for herbs lonely, and tedious without lucetta to entertain or keep him company. the young pup had been a breathe of youth, and he had been hoping that she would take the path of shaman, yet he was not so lucky. he walked through the dead trees, trying to find any signs of life in the new breaths of spring. he found catmint first, he knew the herbs, mainly for it's ability to drift felines crazy, and they definitely didn't need a feline problem at the moment. catmint sure did have its benefits though, so he grabbed the two plants and continued. his next find was dandelion, and he found it just before dark luckily. he started making his way back to the den before anything bad could grab him in the dark.

koda had taken lucetta out to train as rain had begun to fall. the experienced wrangler had thought it would be good for her to learn how to track in tough conditions. He had found a pelt of a fox and hid it within the forest, setting out a trail with his scent along with the fox's as he did so. he had given lucetta the task to find it, but so far she wasn't doing as well as he had hoped, or rather she wasn't trying as hard. "this is stupid, and what is the point anyway? i'm not going to find it!" she whined, but koda ignored her before looking around. he looked her in the eye, getting annoyed with her attitude "you will stay out her, and track the damn fox pelt before you will be allowed back to camp." he said sternly. he watched as the saluki growled a little bit before putting her nose to the ground in order to get to work. the rain had started to wash most of the scent away and if she didn't get to work soon she wouldn't be coming back any time soon. she started sprinting and koda smiled, knowing that she would soon come back with a fox pelt. he heard splashing through puddles and surely enough the novice female came back, even more wet than before, with a tattered fox pelt in her jaws.

aster snapped at roscoe as the pitbull tried to comfort the brood in labour. she had produced three puppies so far, but she could feel that there were some more to come. rowdy rushed in, trying to get her to bite down on a stick to direct her attention somewhere else, but so far she had refused anything he had suggested. the bull terrier noticed the fae getting annoyed with the wrangler and thought for a moment, "perhaps it is best that you wait outside, roscoe." deciding to kick the unlucky father out of the brood den for now. rowdy watched over aster to make sure nothing bad happened, and surely enough two more puppies came at dawn. "are you going to name them?" rowdy asked, earning a grumpy look from the female, "they get names if they survive, in a months time. my bets are the runt won't last a week." she snapped. rowdy nodded his head meekly and shrunk off to the cleric den, saying a meek goodnight and telling her to yell for anything if she needed it. little did rowdy know, aster was planning on passing two of the pups off to one of their fathers, chance.

Poppy lay on the sun-warmed stone, surveying the camp. Sighing, she stood up from her lonely seating place and padded out into the meadow. She bounded towards the border, brown tail wagging. She scented the air, catching a few prey scents, so she paused to hunt on the way then continued towards the mountain border.

Small dust clouds formed under her paws as she neared the end of her territory and started to recent the borders.

Weather Report:

Spring is in the air! Herbs and prey are plentiful and skittering around without a care. Not only are prey and herbs easier to find but so are dogs as they wonder the world without a care. Small spring rain clouds are puffing by and the air reeks of rain.. time to watch the clouds get bigger and bigger until they burst.

living among the antarctic, these dogs have made their homes in the bitter cold among mountains where wolves roam, ready to pick off a dog who wanders too far. it is said they're only safe when an eclipse occurs: and they have an accord with the wolves that they will be safe that day.

most, if not all, of my dogs are long-furred and have tough pads for walking along the stony mountains.

Poppy stood up. Her fluffy, curled fur ruffled in the breeze. “Flash?” she called out to her beta. “I’m going to the sacred tree. Hunt and patrol while I’m gone, please.”

Flash nodded, smiling, and when the alpha had left to visit the hollow tree that was the visiting place to the ancestors, he stood up and padded out of camp. He headed to the borders first, determining to hunt on the way back.
