Aster had given birth and all pups seemed to be going well. Conner and Aster were over the moon and had been cooing at them ever since they arrived. They gave the three the names of Ilia, Tobi and Lilac. Tobi was a runt but Tulip said he would be fine. Tulip was relived that it was over but the whole kennel was also fawning over the pups.
"They are sooooo cute!" Sandy shouted. "Makes me want to have pups off my own. Almost."
"Haha, there's always enough time for that," Aster said, stopping to lick Lilac's head afterwards.
"They look just like you both," Bella said. The two mates gave her a smile.

A couple of tail-lengths away, were Kierat, Lana, Pippa and Goldie. Lana, a bit of scatterbrained dog, had other things on her mind then puppies.
"We should go looking for elk," she announced.
"Have you told Seria yet?" Kierat asked.
"Of course! Well, only that it's out there. Don't you worry, tiny one!" she barked.
"Tiny one!? What's that meant to mean!?" he replied hotly, jumping to his feet.
"I didn't mean offence! It's just that um... What's your name again?"
"Really, Lana... You've been here for 2 months and you still can't remember everyone's name!?" Goldie spat. "Even Pippa has a better track record than you!"
"It's not that hard..." Pippa said, looking at her feet.
"Sorry, sorry! I'm getting there, um... Goldfish?" she said with uncertainty in her voice.
"Goldie..."
"Anyway, we should wait for Seria to make an announcement before anything..." Kierat barked and thus concluded the conversation.

Seria had decided on the dogs she would take with her to catch the elk and went to speak to Sol. She also had another matter to talk with him. "Hello, Sol," she said in greeting as she approached.
"Ah, hello Seria," he replied, seeming to have just woken up from a nap. "Is everything well?"
"Yep, everything is fine. I'm just letting you know that I'll be leaving to catch the elk soon," she said.
"Good luck with that. It sounds tough," he said with a yawn.
"Mhm," she agreed. "But I think we can do it. Anyway, how's Rusty's training going? Will he be finished soon?"
"Oh, about that... I think he's just about ready but I will just take him out for one last time," Sol chirped.
"Sounds great!" she exclaimed and he gave her a smile. Suddenly, her face felt hot and unsure what to do with this, she looked elsewhere.
"Is that all?" he asked.
"Uh... Y-yeah, that's all. I'll see you later then," she said. He gave her a nod and then she walked away, feeling a little embarrassed for herself. When she was away from him, she shook her head and cleared her thoughts. "Right!" she announced to her kennel. "Let's catch an elk!"

Renegade lowered his head to the ground, sniffing about the city pavement for anything to eat.  The concrete felt prickly beneath his sore paw pads, and the thick city stench burned his nostrils.  The shepherd doubted he'd find anything but alas, it was the life of a stray like himself.   It wasn't always this way, once he was living out his days as a cushy pet.. but it was not his fate to become a pet of human for all his days and he was abandoned by the person he called a friend.

The large shepherd lifted his head quickly as a crowd of humans advanced towards the street he was on, each one of them with twisted expressions on their faces.  He knew he wouldn't be getting any of their food out of them.  "Get out of here you dumb mutt!" One of them yelled.  He raised his hand and looked just about ready to hit Renegade before he darted away with his ears pinned as the toxic smelling air smoothed his coat back with the wind.

Finally Renegade slowed down after running to a short alleyway.  His chest rose and fell in large swings, and his tongue lolled out of his mouth as he tried to catch his breath.

"The city is not for you.."

Renegade let out a dark chuckle.  "Ha-Ha.  You could say that again." He paused, becoming stiff. "Who's there, who is that?" Suddenly from the mist a golden figure emerged, taking the form of a retriever.  "Renegade.  You must leave the city and leave the past behind you." Renegade looked in shock at the infamous god of land and water, Lacke.  He bowed his head with respect.  "Lacke.. What do you mean?" The golden retriever shook his head before padding away.  "Follow the brightest star to the land of the kennels.  There you will find your true calling, Hudson'Lacke.."

Renegade watched as the god disappeared out of view.  Confusion was sprinkling his face and he tried to put the pieces of what Lacke was saying into sense.

In the end Renegade had listened to Lacke.. of course, how could he not?  The retriever was a alpha amongst a kennel of gods and for him to speak directly to him was an honour he would not forget.  As he trudged through the thick marshy swamp though, he began to doubt it.  His paw pads had been aching along with his muscles, the long journey to the lands of the kennels hard.  And for what, a mucky swamp?  No thank you.

His coat was soaked up to his stomach as he trudged through the reeds, the mud beneath him uneven.  It was not great but Renegade supposed he could make do with it if it was what the gods wished for.  But as he moved through a large clump of ferns and bushes he realized where home was.  The ground began to harden and turn into rich soil as he moved forwards, breaking out into a run as he saw the beautiful expanses of forest and river ahead of him.  He could see the silhouette of mountains through the treetops and best of all, a glittering lake.  It was massive, so far that he had to turn his head to look at it all.. It was home.

Weather Report:

Spring is in the air! Herbs and prey are plentiful and skittering around without a care. Not only are prey and herbs easier to find but so are dogs as they wonder the world without a care. Small spring rain clouds are puffing by and the air reeks of rain.. time to watch the clouds get bigger and bigger until they burst.

Sky Kennel dogs are full of laughter and brightness, they forgive easily, and are very kind and loving. W3 have all kinds of dogs here, small and large.

We live in a large meadow area, our camp is a hollow surrounded by trees. The dens are mostly made out of fallen trees, hollow logs, bracken, or stone.

Minnow gazed upon the motionless and stiff body of his brother. "I... I'm sorry." A soft voice murmured. Minnow glanced to his side and saw the curly coated Shaman. He suppressed a bitter growl, and shook his head. He sat silently beside his brother, shaking his head slowly. "There isn't an official ceremony for deaths in Falling Leaves. That needs to change." Minnow snarled, and Lune shifted uncomfortably. "There's isn't, correct. But I suppose that was Bullet's decision, not mine." Lune pointed out before slipping away from Minnow's view. Bullet. That Alpha. Minnow's mind roared. If no one will put an end to this, I guess I will.

"Goodness, hello spring." Cadeyrn mumbled, and he was able to hear Sparrow's struggling wheeze beside him. "Sooner or later most of our sicknesses will be gone. Thank the stars!" Cadeyrn boomed joyously, swiftly followed by a cough. Yet his ears were filled with groans of despair, continuous coughs and long wheezes. Cadeyrn cast a glance over at Sparrow, frowning. "Are you all right?" He asked softly. Sparrow whined, his eyes clouded and his vision blurred. "Soon it will be my time to leave. I'm afraid my sickness has gotten to a point where I can't battle it any longer." Sparrow murmured in a raspy voice. Cadeyrn suddenly went frantic. "It's not even that horrid yet! It's not completely fatal!" Cadeyrn barked desperately, sounding forty months younger than his current age. "Oh, where's Amour and Lune?" Cadeyrn asked in a panicked tone. "Herb collecting." Sparrow grumbled. "Falcon already died, I don't want you to as well, bud." Cadeyrn whimpered quietly. But a reply was never heard.

"You what?" Minnow demanded. "I've assigned you to Sieger to train." Bullet replied simply, keeping his gaze on Minnow. "After losing my brother, you're making me train a lousy pup?" Minnow snarled viciously, yet Bullet stayed calm. "Yes. We thought it would be a good distraction from your loss, actually. Apologizes if this causes an inconvenience for you, but it has already been made official." Bullet answered in a sophisticated voice. "Who says it's 'official'? What kind of Alpha are you? I know so many dogs who would have made much better Alphas than... you." Minnow growled, adjusting himself into an aggressive stance. A flash of what seemed to be sorrow glinted in Bullet's eyes, but he seemed to stay put. "Thank you." Bullet barked. And he was off.

Achilles bit into a squirrel he was sharing with Nettle. "There's barely any small dogs here, not including pups obviously." Nettle commented, glancing around camp. Achilles chewed a small bite of squirrel, nodding. "You're not even that small yourself. It's mainly just me." Achilles pointed out, and going back to eating his squirrel. Nettle pushed the squirrel closer towards Achilles. "You can have the rest of the squirrel. I'm not hungry. And you got a point." Nettle barked in agreement, watching Achilles gulp down the prey. "I heard there once was another dog from our old pack that once lived here." Achilles finally barked after finishing his meal. "It was Caden." Nettle's eyes glinting with surprise. "Who told you that?" The terrier questioned. "I think it was Raj. He told me that Caden had saved his life while they were hunting deer, but Caden ended up dying." He explained, fiddling around with one of the squirrel's thin bones. "Oh." Was all Nettle could say.

"I hope Bullet's all right now. I was talking to Gabriel the other day and she was going on about how in the previous months Bullet was acting pretty doubtful of himself." Amorette commented to Beverly, Calypso, Merolyn, Laurelle and Reena. The six female canines had offered to go on patrol when the current patrol dogs came back, but they had decided to spend their time gossiping. It was first Beverly and Reena, but the other four had joined in. "I was talking to Lily, and Boom had told her that Bullet was wanting someone else to take his Alpha place, or something like that." Calypso offered. The other five stared wide eyed at the young Irontooth. "Impossible." Reena declared. "He's already getting over it now. Once the sickness is gone, his doubts will too." She claimed, and a few nodded in agreement. "Thunder would make a decent Alpha if Bullet were to give up his place." Merolyn mumbled. "You only say that because you like him, don't you?" Beverly teased. Merolyn laughed nervously, suddenly realizing she had barked her thoughts aloud. "Oh look, patrol is back. Our turn now." Merolyn sudden yowled. "You've avoided the question once, but can you avoid it twice?" Beverly asked with a chuckle. Probably not. Merolyn thought.

N I G H T • C A L L E R S

Ancestor visit: five days

Enyo was done being in the nursery. She loved her pups to no end, but she couldn't wait until they became Tenderpaws and someone else could be in charge. It was better though, since the three were old enough to leave the nursery and bother Cronus instead of her. The best days were when Ares would come in a sit with her and fill her in on what had happened. Today was one of those days. She lay on her side in her nest staring up at her mate, who sat near her head. "A deer? That could feed the kennel for moons." She said to him, her eyes wide with interest.

"Can I go, Papa? Please!" Agenta whined as she slumped against Ares, blinking up at him with her big blue eyes. "Yeah, yeah, me too!" Ajax agreed, trotting over with his tail wagging. Basia said nothing, but her eyes wide and pleading.

Ares chuckled and shook his head, giving Agenta's ear a lick. "In time, little ones." He promised before looking back at Enyo. "I know. I plan on taking most of the ironteeth to go and bring it down. Then, my dear Enyo, you will have a feast." He said sweetly.

"Just focus on getting back in one piece, love." Enyo said with a light laugh, her tail wagging. Ares smiled and stood up, making Agenta tip over with a small squeak. He touched his muzzle to his mate's before leaving the nursery, followed closely by a swarm of interested pups. She watched him go with love in her eyes and then laid her head down, imagining the feast that she had been promised.

"Delphi, may I speak to you?" Diana's voice asked calmly, but it still made Delphi uneasy. She didn't like it when her tone was too calm because it usually meant she was in trouble. The small pup turned away from her herbs and looked up at the collie. Diana stood in the mouth of the den with worry evident in her eyes. "Delphi, do you remember the Shaman's Code?"

Delphi cocked her head. "Of course." She said. "It was the first thing you told me when I first became your tenderpaw."

"Then you remember what I told you about taking a mate." Delphi's eyes widened and she nodded, her tail swishing against the ground anxiously. She now knew where this was going-and she hated it. However, she kept her jaws shut. "As a shaman, you surrender your right to have love. You must care for each member of the kennel as though they are your pups, not putting any one dog above the others."

"This is about Jason, isn't it." Delphi muttered and Diana nodded. "Well, don't worry about it. We were just playing." And that was the truth. She couldn't tell her that it was the whole truth, but it was truth.

Diana sighed and sat down. "I know that the burden is heavy, and I trust that you can handle it. But I just needed to make sure."

"I understand." Delphi snapped, more aggressively than she had wanted to. However, she was angry at the burden on her shoulders. She was angry that she had to choose between her best friend and her kennel.

Near the entrance, Athena was anxiously awaiting her Alpha's signal to move out. A deer was the pinochle of her hunting career and a perfect way to show Ares how much he had taught her. The adrenaline pumped in her veins and she shifted from foot to foot.

"Anxious, chica?" Athena groaned as she saw Hades saunter up to her, a smug grin on his face. His black tail wagged slowly behind him, like he was trying to intimidate her. She wouldn't. The Irontooth huffed and looked away. Hades cocked his head and moved so that he was again in her line of sight. "Hey, I'm just trying to be friendly." He said, "I don want you to be upset when I'm the one who takes down the deer."

Athena rolled her eyes and snorted. "In your dreams. I'm the one who's going to take it down."

"Yeah?"
"Yeah."

The argument was broken up as Ares walked by them with his tail held high, the signal to move out. Athena and Hades shared a brief glance before bolting out of camp, both racing for the glory of being the one to take down the deer. Ares watched his tenderpaw in amusement and pride, silently cheering her on.

atlas teased a bit of rubble from between his toe pads with his canine teeth, his rear legs stretched to his side as he reclined on a velvet-covered red seat, light filtering into the underground railway system from a collapsed ceiling from above. pride was soaring in his chest, feeling an awful lot like adrenaline, making his blood pump and pulse race and his paws itchy to do something. the number of canines in his charge had been growing steadily since the last moon cycle; caesar was among the most important dogs in the kennel, having extensive knowledge with herbs. athena, too, was a monumental addition. her swollen belly promised pups soon. she seemed to be opening up to atlas's prying, too - his questions had broken through her stubborn streak.
"do you know where he is?" atlas had asked her, stretched out lengthily over a number of subway seats, his head propped on his paws, blinking at her from her den underneath the chairs on the opposite side of the car. her blue eyes had flashed a steely glint, and she squinted at him with apprehension. "why do you care?" she chuffed at him, rolling onto her side to better allow her stomach to soak up the filtering sun's rays. she had only joined him because he had caesar, a skilled medic, with him at the time, and athena's only hope at this point was for her pups to be delivered safely. "because," atlas had drawled lazily, his tail thumping once against the fabric before settling once more. "you're under my protection now, and if the good-for-nothing father doesn't even care enough about his own mate and pups, then - " atlas was cut off by a flash of metallic blue and a snarl, the mother-to-be on her paws in an instant and her drawn-back lips near his nose. "another bad word about him and you'll lose an eye," athena warned sharply, her pearly white fangs mere centimeters from his muzzle. atlas turned languid eyes to her, his parted mouth splitting into a grin. "so he got lost. i got it now." athena's snarl edged into a scowl. "i didn't say that." her protests fell short, though. "so what was it? he was hunting, i'm sure, and it was after a day or so that you set off on your own. am i right so far?" atlas cocked a haughty eyebrow in her direction. her ears were tilted backwards, and he knew his hunch was spot on. "listen, dear - " athena snapped a sharp "don't call me dear," at him, before he continued. "we'll look for him. next moon. i've already sent the patrols so i've no way of letting them know to look for your mate, but next moon i'll try." athena's gaze had turned skeptical, her untrusting nature shining bring in the wariness of her optics. "oh, come on, don't give me that look. i will." atlas's voice held a maternal exasperation, as he saw all of the canines in his kennel as part of his family. "i promise."
