@hen, Welcome to CaC! I'm looking forward to the development of Vagaryclan ^^ As far as I know, you're allowed to change rank names with no penalty (there are plenty of clans that have already done so, including my own.) I haven't heard of anyone needing to ask permission either, so you should be fine.
If you meant, like, completely changing ranks or getting rid of some and adding a whole bunch of new ones in, I think you'd need permission since you'll be drastically changing the standard clan ranking system, but you should probably wait for a more definitive answer from Kat or one of the mods. If you want to add "specific" roles for your cats, you could probably just add in sub ranks (something that can be known within the clan, but doesn't have to be outright stated alongside all your other ranks).

I've in the last few weeks been trying to archive all of my stuff on CS properly, including CaC. This means trying to record information significantly better, which also includes all the stuff at the bottom of the coding on the first page.
With a load of stuff now archived, I'm not going to be putting it into my forms every post, but instead updating the archive post and putting a link to the archive posts for each point within the CaC posts. If you want to do a similar system, I am completely fine with people taking the code directly. (Click "Quote" and copy everything other than the {"quote='Chamrosh']" at the start and {"/quote]" at the end, and then fill in with your own details.) There is no obligation to credit or anything, but I'd be interested to know if anyone does choose to use this system as well!
