In the Warriors series, clan leaders get 8 extra lives (9 total lives) to lead their clan with. These lives are given to them at their leader ceremony wherever they meet with their ancestors typically by cats who they have shared a special connection with such as friends, mentors, parents, siblings, etc.
These are my founder's nine lives:

Badgerstar's Nine Lives
1. Skystar - The confidence to lead
2. Sunstar - The ability to open your heart and trust other cats
3. Riverstar - To be loyal above all else
4. Fuzzy - The courage to keep going when things get difficult
5. Wooly - The desire to protect his clan like a mother protecting her kits
6. Storm - The capacity for forgiveness
7. Berry - To approach each day with excitement, as if everything was new.
8. Holly - The love of a mother for her kits

"sharing tongues" essentially means "talking to." In the books, they shared tongues with Starclan (their ancestors) by going to something called the Moonstone or the Moonpool. The leader or medicine cat would touch their nose to the surface, and when they went to sleep they would meet with their ancestors who would give prophecies/warnings/advice.
An example of a prophecy is the one used in the first arc of the series, "Fire alone will save the clan." They're like omens. Or poems with meaning lol

Receiving a prophecy would be your leader dreaming of their ancestors and getting a prophecy from them. Giving a prophecy is from the perspective of your founder, after they lost all of their lives, delivering a prophecy.
